Hotel's Favourite
First time staying here on a layover. The staff was very friendly & the rooms were excellent. Large room with separate bedroom from the living room. I liked having a microwave & refrigerator in the room. The free breakfast was great. I would recommend this hotel to others. It’s in a great location downtown. I look forward to my next layover here.

Thank you to Mario for a quick and efficient check in. We had a suite (living room and bedroom with a tv in each room). The bedroom had a king size bed, which was really comfortable There was a bar fridge, a microwave, and a Keurig machine, and there was an in-room safe available. The parking at the hotel is off site and there is a charge, which is paid directly to the garage. We were parked from about 1:30 p.m. one day until about 10 a.m. the next morning, and the cost was $17. We were able to park in front of the hotel while we checked in and while we brought our bags to our room. A shuttle is available, but we opted to walk to and from the garage, which is about a block and a half away. Breakfast is provided (both hot and cold items) and the breakfast room is a nice open space. There is a TGIFridays located off the main lobby, and you get 20% off if you show your room key.
I did a review of this hotel quite a few years back; not many changes in what I have to say about it! They still get a thumbs up.

I was very concerned staying in a hotel through the pandemic. But I did’t have any other option due to remodelation in my apartment. Well let me tell you the experience was great from the beggining to the end. The bedroom was super clean and sterilized, the staff was very concern in every following the rules of using the mask. At the there’re many hand sanitizer and wipes to clean any area or the carts to bring up your luggages to the room. Also there is a bunch of close restaurants where you can walk to pick up your food. Overall ill like to recomend the Holiday Inn Express in Downtown if you come to Buffalo NY. Thanks to all the staff for the good service!!

We stayed here September 28 as part of our Niagara bus tour. I wish we knew that the hotel was next to a TGIF. IWe could have had a late dinner here instead of the overpriced food court where our tour bus took us.
The room was fairly comfortable although we had to ask for additional towels as they only supplied us with two when we are a party of four. It is supposed to be a non-smoking hotel but our room reeked of cigarette smoke.
As with most hotels during this pandemic, they have done away with items that could be a potential health hazard like drinking glasses and tiny soap bars. They instead have those bottled soap, shampoo and conditioner dispensers. Unfortunately our conditioner dispenser did not work. I was excited to find a Kcup single brewer in the room but alas that too did not work.
The HIE offered a warm breakfast of freshly prepared mini pancakes, egg and cheese omelet, sausage. One can opt for a healthy fare of yogurt and fruit. Understandably they only had bananas and apples as an option.
I am writing this to keep the management aware and accountable for the safety issue I reported to the front desk. The door of room 303 requires brute force to open. One has to literally kick the door in to open from outside. My brother and nephew had to pull the door open to let us out. Obviously this is a quick fix but certainly one that should not be delayed or ignored.
I hope management will take note of this report.

Hi 701arnels, Thank you for choosing to stay with us and for posting a candid review. I was very concerned to read your comments regarding housekeeping service, breakfast selection, the door, and comfort. I understand your dismay and I am sorry. This is not the frictionless experience that we wanted for all our guests. I will make sure to share your comments with our team for the necessary improvements needed on our end. I appreciate you as our guest and I still hope you would give us another chance in the future. Orlando A. Case Manager IHGService

It looked like they did some type of half-assed renovation and are trying to sell this place as high quality executive suites. The rooms look pretty good in the pictures, but in person is where they fail. I checked in and was given a room on the 2nd floor, which me and my cousin who was traveling with me (and couldn't check into her room due to a cluster at the front desk) opened up to go in and were greeted with the smell of cigarette smoke. We were given another room on the 4th floor and that one smelled like reefer. It wasn't terrible and I didn't want to be a pain in the ass so I stayed with it. Sitting on the toilet (the seat which was clearly not the proper size for this bowl and moved around as if not bolted in properly) I noticed that the towel bar above the shower was drooping because it was broken and that there was a 3-4 inch ring of dirt around the bottom of my tub. Also after I took off my shoes and walked on the bathroom floor I also noticed a sticky substance in the floor. You could also see that the grout in the tile of the bathroom floor was black, but mostly white around the edges. Pretty disgusting so I put towels down so my feet didn't come in contact with the floors. So speaking of sticky substances, they were every where in the room. The wall by the light switch, the night stand and the dresser and drawers. Was this room even cleaned? I lost an item I had and thought maybe it fell behind the bed, so I moved the mattress away from the wall and just couldn't believe all the garbge back there on the floor. Went to use my fridge and it was iced over all on the back wall and I mean one section was a few inches thick. There were these copper colored dime sized shiny confetti looking things all behind my bed and randomly on the edge of the floor in my room and also all over the hallway the whole 4 nights that I stayed there. Was vacuuming not a thing there?? I could go on about other little details of my room but I think you get the point. The only positive thing I have to say about it is that the bed was pretty supreme! I mean the mattress was very comfortable! And the fact that they had Dr Bronner's soap, shampoo and conditioner was nice as well. I did encounter a manager right off the bat (Cassandra) who did help out a bit and was very nice. And when I asked the front desk to send house keeping to clean the ring of my tub, they sent someone right away and he did a great job. All in all I wouldn't recommend and I wouldn't stay here again. The location is a little sketchy and service was hit and miss.

Thank you for the very detailed review. I have read all your comments to my housekeeping team. This is very disappointing and unacceptable. We should not have rented this room and I apologize. High standards of cleanliness are expected and we fell short.

The bed, pillows, and sheets were wonderful. Unfortunately my key card didn’t work the second day and I had to go to the front desk to fix it. This was unsafe due to not being able to get in the hotel at night from TGIs so I had to walk around to the front of the hotel in the rain and wind. The shuttle service is nonexistent to pick you up from the parking garage. Scary at night. Homeless people sleeping in the vestibule right outside of TGI. The bathrooms need remodeling. Dirty ceiling above the bed. Door to the room felt unsafe as it didn’t close all of the way although it still locked. The general manager was friendly and went out of his way to call up the shuttle service to take me to the parking garage which costs $10 every time you leave. I appreciated the hotel manager. I don’t think they should advertise the parking garage and shuttle service. When asking at check in where the parking garage was, front desk provided me with a copy of a map showing where it was located. It had been copied so often that it was ineligible, so why bother. I wouldn’t stay there again due to parking problem. The bed was wonderful though.

The staff was amazing, attended to every call, offered to call a taxi when needed. Helped connect the wifi to my phone! The room was clean, smelt clean, spacious. The soap was higher end as well! There was a continental breakfast buffet. Very tasty! I wish there was orange juice though. I would recommend staying here! One of the least expensive hotels in the Downtown buffalo area and the price does not indicate a lack of service.

What an absolute disaster. Holiday Inn called us the day before arrival to confirm that we would be checking in the following day I confirmed.
We made our trip to Buffalo with two rooms booked a family of 5 excited to attend a concert after driving three hours.
4.05pm on the arrival day we received a call to say our rooms were canceled because we hadnt arrived yet. …. It was 4.05pm. We booked through booking.com and they said it was because we booked through a third party that we were first to get cancelled. Because there was a few rooms out of order. There was absolutely no apologie / no consideration for what we had to go through. They pretty much said there was nothing they could do and see you later. The manager was extremely unprofessional and honestly just couldnt be bothered. We are really disappointed and angry at the situation as it wasn’t handled with care. We would absolutely not recommend this hotel or be prepared to have have back up accommodation. Iv worked in many hotel reception before so I understand that things happen but there needs to be a solution but turned away.

One of the worst hotels we ever stayed. We came to Buffalo for a hockey tournament and this hotel was one of the choices given to us. So, the toilet in the bathroom was leaking, and the tank was never full to flush, so, you had to improvise, and then, and this was ever worse, the thermostat wasn't working, so, if you turned the heat on (which was needed, since the temperatures outside were in the 30s and snow flurries), it was going up to 85, so, you had to turn it off overnight. Just a disaster hotel. The staff was not helpful, every day they said they will send someone to fix the issues, well, nobody fixed anything, they didn't send anyone, rude, and unprofessional. As a hockey team manager, I will send my comments to the association to make sure sure this hotel will never be on the list of properties for any sports team.
