Reviews summary
This summary was created by AI, based on recent reviews.
Powered by AI
The Hyatt Regency Buffalo / Hotel and Conference Center presents a blend of old-world charm and modern touches, with guests enjoying the ambiance set by live music despite noting the need for room refurbishments. While some travelers commend the hotel's cleanliness, others suggest a need for more rigorous maintenance. The amenities receive mixed reviews, with the pool and views being appreciated, though some mention the amenities are dated and lack modern conveniences like USB ports.
Its central location is a highlight for guests, making it a convenient choice for exploring downtown attractions. Service is generally seen as amiable and professional, but can be slow and disorganized at times, particularly in the dining area and during busy periods. Travelers often describe the rooms as needing updates and question the value offered by the hotel, citing high costs for parking, meals, and the overall experience that doesn't always align with Hyatt's reputation.

Detailed Reviews
My wife and I stayed here for three nights over Christmas 2019 and we weren't happy with our stay. We had a king room on the ninth floor and it was good, but it really felt dated. The room is cozy and the bed was okay (springs were noticeable on some parts of the mattress) but it was clean and the floor was quiet. The bed itself wasn't very quiet or made for activities other than sleeping. The bathroom had everything that we expected (except shampoo which was rectified later in the stay).
We got here over Christmas and we expected the city itself to be shut down. The main issue was that we didn't expect the hotel itself to not know what was going on inside its own doors. We got different and erroneous times as to when the pool was open, when the breakfast was served, what was open around the hotel, and what was available to us. A very helpful person at the front desk had only moved to Buffalo a few weeks prior, and though she tried to help, was not very knowledgeable about the things going on in the city.
The pool itself is quite small. The area around the pool does not allow for relaxing or lounging; the only seating available are uncomfortable wrought-iron chars around tables, and these are limited. Also, there is no supervision of the pool. An extended family was also using the pool and they let their kids run amok around the pool, create a very noisy and uncomfortable atmosphere, and use the lifesaving equipment as toys.
The breakfast brunch was quite good. The service was great and the selection was good. The fruit and pastries were fresh and the brunch also includes eggs and/or waffles made to order.
The parking situation in the hotel is either valet at $25 a day or a parking structure across the street for less money. The structure is well-lit, has people at the exits and felt safe. The location of the hotel is great.
All in all, there were good things about the stay, however, we will probably look for a different location the next time around.

Thank you for the feedback about your recent stay with us! We are well aware of the outdated aspects of our hotel and are looking forward to a future renovation that will include a complete bed change out and more! We aim to make our hotel feel like your home away from home, including the comfort and tranquility of that of your own home, so for this I do apologize for the missed marks. As far as our front desk staff goes, I am pleased to hear they were doing all in their power to be helpful. However, I do agree that all of our staff needs to be on board with the on-goings of activities both inside and outside of our hotel. I can assure you that this concern has been addressed and I will also be sure to share your kind feedback, as well. We do hope to be given another opportunity to dazzle you and show you the Buffalove we are known for.

The Hyatt was recommended to us by a friend as a great place to stay for New Year's Eve. It is directly across from the ball drop. We looked into it as were pleased with the type of room we could get for the price. We booked a junior suite as we would be going as a family, as well as one of my daughter's friends who would be coming with us. We booked early, in August, knowing it would book fast. We did not get a room that oversees the ball drop as those need to be booked well in advance, but we had planned on going outside for it anyway. The suite was a little smaller than we would have liked, but worked for us. We had requested a roll-away bed and it was not in the room. We called for on and it was not only brought promptly, but he offered to help us set it up. We settled in to watch some TV and eat and noticed that we did not have a floor lamp in the seating area. The only light was a desk lamp and it was not very bright. There was no overhead light. So I'm assuming there was supposed to be a floor lamp and it was never replaced. We had other family visiting and they reserved one of the larger suites that had a living room area and a separate bedroom. We spent a lot of the evening in there with them and thought the room was very nice. The hotel has a pool and our son wanted to swim with our friend's kids so we went to check it out. It's on the 11th floor and is small, but it worked great for the handful of kids that wanted to use it while staying. At around 11:30pm we headed outside for the ball drop and boy was it busy. But luckily we got a good spot and had a great time! Heading back inside was chaotic, but we felt the staff did a nice job of checking people in and trying to move us quickly and efficiently. They lock the doors at 10pm and you need a room key to get in. With so many people coming back in after the drop they had many staff members situated to check room keys upon returning. It made me feel safer to know that. When we finally decided to crash for the night the area of the hotel we were in was quiet (we stayed on the 14th floor). We did not stay for breakfast as we did not want to pay for it there. We did, however, use the valet parking and had a very good experience. They were friendly and quick with returning our car. Considering the cost of parking in the area and having to find a spot on a busy night, it was well worth paying for the hotel valet. Overall we had a good experience and would definitely return to celebrate another NYE!

I don't know what is going on with hotels these days and their unwillingness to provide daily housekeeping services. I find it completely unacceptable to have to chase down fresh towels when I am staying in a hotel, especially at this price point. The rooms were small and dark and if they expect us to reuse our towels, the least they could do is provide more than ONE hook on the back of a door to hang a towel up. We picked this hotel because it was convenient to a concert venue but found the downtown Buffalo area very lacking in stuff to do during the day in walking distance.

This hotel lacks customer service. Hotel needs major updates. Housekeeping doesn’t verify rooms are fully cleaned. found a phone charger and coffee pot was dirty. Elevator button was broken on the 10th floor. Rooms are very dated but large. The food at the hotel is good if you can actually get someone to seat you. You will spend more time waiting to be seated then it takes to eat even when the hotel is empty. Valet was ungrateful, I thanked them for bringing my car around they complain ignored me and walked off. Front desk acted like helping a customer was an annoyance more than their job. I left 3 days in of an 8 day stay. switched to the Rochester Hyatt regency which is way better.

Conference oriented hotels are not generally top of the line in luxury or experiences, but this was definitely below average even by that standard. The rooms and decor were very tired and dated. There is NO sound buffering from the hallway - you hear EVERYTHING happening in the corridors. Many hotels are limited their room cleaning upon request, which I understand. But nothing was communicated at check-in or inside the room on their policy or how to order fresh towels (something desired when staying more than a couple nights). Hotel amenities were mostly shut down as they work to re-open, which made the lobby seem very sad and quiet. And the bar is clearly understaffed and those working are indifferent.

This hotel is using the Covid excuse for not providing housekeeping yet they still want the same rate for reduced services. I called Hyatt Explorist number to complain and the agent stated they would forward my concerns to hotel manager who would reach out to me. Well the manager never called! Enough said!!

We loved the location as we were able to take the trolly round trip to the Key Bank Center for a concert. The bed was uncomfortable and clunky. The HVAC system was very loud. It made a loud thud when it kicked on and that woke us multiple times during the night. The hallway was noisy all night and the walls seemed to be paper thin. I had higher expectations for the price. The bar staff and desk staff were nice. The restaurant was not impressive. It had a limited offering, and the items we ordered for dinner were not available. Also, no cash is accepted in the hotel including the Starbucks in the lobby. Surface lot parking was available across the street for 21.00. I would consider a stay here again only for the location and easy access to the concert stadium.

The check in process was dreadful. I booked a KING room and requested a quiet one, as I am a light sleeper. The front desk attendant, Olivia, ignored my request. At first, she placed me on the same floor as the pool, with kids running down the hallway. When I returned, she placed me in the room next to elevators and right in front of the ice machine, which was super loud. When I expressed my disappointment, I was told that the hotel is out of king rooms and placed in a double room with a connecting floor, even when I paid for a king.
Unlike most Hyatt properties, the staff at this hotel do not appreciate returning customers, and my status with Hyatt loyalty program did not help.

Excellent customer service. Parking can be expensive but you can self park across the street for $23 with in/out privileges. Would not use valet, did see someone having an issue with damage to his car. You can also park in covered garage, we only paid $7 overnight parking. Good location and safe area.

Hotel is in a perfect location in downtown Buffalo. Lots of restaurants and bars to walk to, directly next to the hotel. Hotel is also one block from train station that allows you to ride for free all the way from Fountain Plaza to Key Bank Center. Lobby is large and plenty of seating where people can hang out all night. Only negatives are no breakfast included and dining is pricey at the hotel; and you have to pay for parking (either garage or valet). Rooms are a bit small and beds are only two double beds or one King, so may be problematic for some. Plenty of space for large groups to hang out, and plenty of ballrooms.

I’d suggest you call the hotel directly to ask. With the recent heatwave in the area I’d hope the AC would be on by now.
Yes, we do offer valet parking at $25 a day - this includes in and out privileges! If you do not wish to utilize our valet parking there is the option to self-park in the surrounding lots or ramps. However, keep in mind that these options vary in price and may cause you to incur additional charges should you frequently leave and return with your vehicle.
It's about a $14 Uber ride from the airport. It takes about 15 minutes. It's approximately 10 miles. If you are looking to go to Niagara Falls, It's a 25 minute Uber ride from the Hyatt in Buffalo. There's a closer Hyatt at Niagara Falls. The Hyatt Place is across the street from the falls.
Hello! The Hyatt Regency Buffalo is independently owned by the Snyder family who has owned the Hyatt since it first opened 32 years ago!
Hi!!
The train is very quiet as it is for a local rail and not for normal trains that make lots of noise. It is free and runs up and down Buffalo for guests and locals to easily get around the city.
It does stop running around Midnight so you will be able to peacefully sleep :)
