We visited with a group of friends who were all staying here. I was very hesitant after reading the reviews. We found most of what was in the reviews to be true but it wasn’t as bad as I expected.

Our room was very dated with popcorn ceiling, fading wallpaper, stains on the chair and curtains. Otherwise the bedding and room seemed reasonable clean and was probably nice many years ago. After Lysoling everything I felt ok about it.

On the positive side the location is great. You can easily walk everyone you want to go downtown. The hotel bar area was nice. The service was slow but there was a lot of space and it had a nice laid back vibe.

Overall, this place has great potential and will probably be nice when fully renovated. If you stay know what to expect and decide if you can live with that. The rates were very reasonable for a Saturday night while the surrounding hotels were outrageous due to a Bills game. Also, they are slowly renovating so if you stay request a renovated room.

Would I stay again now, no. Would I try it again when fully renovated, yes.

The Good: Customer service and what a room is expected to deliver (bring own soap or ask for it at front desk).

The bad: Lack of transparency. Expect $10/night for parking and a $50/night deposit for room. Luckily could afford since I didn't know at time of booking one month before visit. Also, "COVID" took away all amenities (pool/bar/room service). Havt to take service elevator instead of normal.

Place needs work, but a comfortable room. Didn't appreciate extra cost surprises

This hotel had good food, drinks, and lobby. The floor that we stayed on had tired rooms but were tidy and had everything that we needed. Location is really good. Parking was on site. There was a pool and gym but I didn't get a chance to use either.

I'm not one to give bad reviews, and I pride myself on giving the most honest and fair reviews. That being said...
This is absolutely one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed in. The only thing going for this hotel is the location. Do Not be fooled by the lobby, or bar in this hotel. It will make you believe you are in for a fantastic stay, but the minute you walk to the guest room elevators you will quickly realize this hotel is not only dirty, falling apart, but being greatly mismanaged and neglected by the staff.

Rooms:
The 1st room, 345 was handicap accessible, view of the parking lot. We were shocked by the condition of the room, from the smell, to only 2 small pillows on a king size bed. The thing that made us have to switch rooms the first 10 minutes of being there, was after we flushed the toilet, the tub started filling with water and would not go down.

The 2nd room, 820, had a better view, but the bed look like they just threw the sheets on it. The drain in the bathroom sink was clogged, the tub had a ring around it, and there was used soap from the previous guest in the tub. Clearly, the tub/shower was never cleaned by the staff which the huge stain in the middle of the tub proved. Both the microwave and refrigerator were missing, the carpet and sitting chair had noticeable stains, and broken tv remote, alarm clock, and furniture.

At this point, we decided that we were only in Buffalo 2 nights, we would clean the room ourselves, since it was the holiday weekend and hotels were limited. Thankfully, the mattress in the room was at least comfortable.

Other Issues:
None of the ice machines were working on ANY of the guest room floors. You could only obtain ice from a staff member at the front desk who had to go behind the bar to retrieve it.
The staff was unorganized, not helpful on occasions, and truly did not seem to care about the upkeep of the hotel. There was never a real presence of staff working other than at the front desk.

Overall:
This place claims to be under new management. Well if that is the case, they need to renovate, revamp, and restructure this entire hotel. I would not recommend this hotel to ANYONE. The location of this hotel although great, is not worth the price. Take your business elsewhere.

This was the worst experience my wife and I have ever had. The service was horrible. We were told that the lounge was open with food available until 1am. That there was a breakfast buffet starting at 830am and a bistro for coffee opened at 6am. Well after returning from a local concert (11pm) the bartender said he already called last call for food and that he was going to call last call for the bar soon. I told him what we were told and he agreed to take a food order. We ordered food and drinks. After 15-20 minutes I asked if he forgot our drinks he said oh yeah what did you want again. Food came out and it was literally room temperature. I ordered another drink and after another 15 minutes I asked if he forgot again. He became very rude and unprofessional I showed him the sheet we received at check in stating the loung was opened till 1am. He insisted that he was doing us a favor by staying open and if we didn’t like it we could go back to our room. Enough on that you get the picture
At 830am I went to the lobby to get coffee and discovered there wasn’t anything open to get a cup of coffee and was told the buffet wasn’t going to open at all and the bistro might be open by 9
Needless to say we packed up and got out of there with absolutely no plans to go back oh yeah it was the first time staying at a hotel that I had to pay $10 to park on their property. Go figure

So if you are ever in the area I suggest you go somewhere where they will leave the light on then staying ate this horrible hotel.

Never been so
disappointed

I have been in multiple hotels and hostels and this “hotel” was the most poor and filthy hotel I had ever experience, by far.

It’s not a matter of how old the building is but about the very basic concept of hygiene specially right now during a global pandemic.

I don’t want to spend a lot of time describing what other customers have already reported, but instead I would like to share that I found a death rat in the middle of the corridor but this is not the scariest part of the story, when I saw what I was charged for the room I fainted!!

The Buffalo Grand is perfectly located in Downtown Buffalo to attend events at the Keybank Center and the Canalside Waterfront. It is within 15 min walking distance. Also if you want to go to the Entertainment District of West Chippewa that is a short 10 minute walk as well. The price is perfect too. Unlike the properties nearby that will charge you about $200 a night, you can get the Buffalo Hrand for around $100 Canadian a night. Two of us were with a group of friends that were attending the Buffalo Sabres vs Toronto Maple Leafs game, practically the entire hotel were Leafs fans which was wild to see. The hotel is big and laid out pretty large as well. The lobby spacious so when checking in you are not crammed in. The hallways are long as this hotel has alot of rooms, close to 500. The rooms are big with a lot of room to move around, comes with a fridge and microwave which is great. The hotel is under renovation still. My friends and I stayed here back in November for WWE Smackdown and will be back again in March for the same event. You must check out the bar-restaurant on the main floor just off front the lobby. It's big and the staff are terrific. Prices and food are great as well. Twice at this property and I have not experienced anything negative. This will be my go to hotel to stay at whenever I'm going to attend events in Buffalo.

After a 3 1/2 hour drive I was glad to lay down and relax. The room was clean the bed comfortable and there where no unexpected problems . The bathroom was large and had no problems . The temperature in the room was easy to control and fast to respond to any adjustments made to the thermostat. There was no annoying noise from adjacent rooms or hallway. I wasn’t very hungry but the restaurant on the first floor offered just about anything wanted. I stopped in the gift shop game room area and picked up a soda and a couple slices of pizza..It was pretty good.. I almost forgot about the parking . The parking is free . I had a great safe quiet night sleep. Check in and check out was handled by two very pleasant people. No unpleasant surprises just a comfortable safe nights sleep. Just what I was looking for. Thank you.

This was, by far, the filthiest hotel we have ever stayed in. We would have left, but they had our money. Our hallway was full of dirty bedding, garbage, and pillows thrown all over. No elevators, broken tv, broken closet door, a loud, rusty and leaky air conditioner, no phone to contact the front desk, and no smoke detector. When we got there, they told us they would charge our card $150 as a security deposit. REALLY?? They should have paid US to stay there. This used to be a lovely hotel. Not even close anymore. RUN!!!!

Maybe 10-12 minutes by drive. I would not recommend walking, the bus station as with most cities is not located in a real good area.

Hello, it's a very short walk or taxi ride to both of those. It is 5 minutes or .8 mile to KeyBank Center and 3 minutes or .5 mile to Amtrak Station. I hope this helps!
