Detailed Reviews
We stayed here 2 nights before starting our bike ride on the Erie Canal to Albany Due to pandemic, only one person assigned per room so that was a luxury and of course made for a very quiet sleep and room to spread out Large and well-stocked kitchen/cooking area and common room, lots of books, lots of plants and natural light. Very friendly desk staff. Located right on Main Street in Theatre District, easy walk to Allentown and Downtown and lots of good attractions and eateries

With a friend, I stayed two nights, before launching on a bike trip from Buffalo to Albany. The hostel is a great location for starting a bike ride, close to the start of the Erie Canal trail. Also very convenient to the Amtrak station. Friendly people clean rooms great location. Can’t ask for anything more! Highly recommend it.

+1
Our family of 4 stayed here for a weekend. Wish we books more nights! It absolutely exceeded our expectations. The hostel has som much artsy character and it’s spotless! Beds are comfy, linens and towels clean and fresh. Communal kitchen with free food and delicious morning coffee/ tea. Ping pong table, foosball table, laundry room, tv room with comfy couches, free bikes to use while you stay there. The coolest are people who stay there and the conversation you will have! JP at the front desk is knowledgeable, and kind and funny. He gave us some tips where to go and what to do to have the best Buffalo experience. Location is a gem! Walking distance to bars, restaurants and impressive City Hall. Hostel has every single thing you would need for your stay. We will be booking beds here every single time we are in the area.

Overall was very disappointed in my stay. I’m a frequent hostel traveler and have never seen a more hands-off staff. The “contactless check-in “ meant no tour, details, or point of contact if things went wrong. As a female solo traveler the fact that there was never any visible staff present made me feel extremely uncomfortable. Then on my second night, I went into my room late to find that my assigned bed from the night before had been reassigned and there was someone already asleep. After much shuffling I was given another bed, but only a hurried apology, no explanation of how this happened. Great location but no common spaces or atmosphere that leant itself to hanging out. I took all my belongings with me and was out the door first thing in the morning not returning until bedtime.

Cute little hostel in downtown Buffalo, located next to the free downtown streetcar stop. Easy to get to the various attractions and tours located down by the river front. I reserved a private room with bathroom down the hall. Clean sheets, towels, blankets with lots of ongoing cleaning of the various areas and bathrooms. Secure locked door with manned front desk. I would recommend it for the well-kept facility, location, and price.

This place is so cool!!! There is gorgeous, whimsical art seriously everywhere. The space is beautiful and feels like home. Fellow guests were friendly yet respectful of each other's space and boundaries. My son commented that he wished we could live here.

A lovely arty hostel with a very comfortable shared living/ dining area which was a great place to chill out on the sofas, read and drink coffee while meeting other residents.
Unobtrusive but available staff are on hand with local recommendations.
We had a twin room with shared bathroom. The beds were comfortable, and the room and bathroom was clean.
This is probably my favourite hostel from the past few years.

I checked in to this Hostel in order to stow my things and attend a last night's bit of festivities at the yearly gothic convention, Convergence, before catching a 4am train to NYC.
It's a three-story building with a basement with elevators. The front desk keeps specific hours, but check-in was easy, quick and courteous. The kitchen was large, clean and well equipped, and the quiet adjacent lounge was nicely furnished. The basement 'entertainment lounge' featured a TV with VHS-tapes and a tape player (which probably eliminates any theft issues with movies), a pool-table and a sort of bizzarre laundry room, apparently available to both patrons and staff for personal and linen/towel laundering. Not a bad thing, just oddly haphazard-looking.
I was assigned to an 8-person dorm-style room allotted to women with four reasonably clean bunk-beds, most of which were empty with new, clean sheets. Each dorm-room had a key-card lock, and all dorm-rooms had a shared restroom with showers on each of the floors. Getting around the room was interesting because patrons' luggage and personal items were scattered around their beds due to the smallness of the in-room lockers. There's no way to fit even a modestly sized suitcase into a locker at this hostel, but it seemed pretty safe. I put my small suitcase under a bed. It was fine.
The neighborhood Hostel Buffalo-Niagara is in is a business district, and even the local CVS and Rite-Aid close early on Sat/Sun. It's located on Main Street, which is not an automotive thoroughfare at all. It's used for the local trolley. I never heard the trolley. It's whishper-quiet, but there are a large number of downtrodden/homeless people who tend to populate Main Street, many of whom tend to panhandle near the trolley's many stations, but overall, it was a nice experience to be there.

Me and my fiancé stayed here while she was taking the BAR, it's an extremely friendly Hostel, very good price and right in the heart of Buffalo.
The only drawbacks are that you share the restrooms and the rooms also (unless you book a full room which we did).
The staff is extremely friendly and will help with directions and tips about the city.
Quick tip: from the airport there is a bus you can take for $2 and it leaves you right at the corner of the hotel, we took a taxi and paid about $35.

I stayed at Hostel Buffalo the night of the 'superstorm' on October 29, 2012 after a four hour bus ride from Toronto. The staff was great and I was thrilled to be inside and to get a private room. This place is so solid (I have no idea what it used to be) I slept great and didn't hear anything or anyone. Staff was great with directions to airport, places to eat nearby, etc.

I don't know how late my response is but...you can get a bus going to Niagara falls by walking to the greyhound bus stop. Just in-front of the entrance, you'll see the bus-stop. I can't remember the number but it will stop you along the road by the entrance to the falls. It's up to one hour or less. So just let the driver know where you are stopping, seat back, relax and don't get carried away in order not to miss your stop...lol!
Also, If you are lodging at the hostel, you can ask the front desk rep. ask them any question, they will be willing to answer them. I hope this helps...Enjoy! :)
