I cannot recommend booking with Ho'olei enough. We had four adults (two married couples) and one infant and the experience was fantastic. First off, the Ho'olei team was extremely communicative weeks before our trip even started. We had texts and emails with the concierge regularly As a parent of an infant, the included high chair, crib, and baby proofing of the unit was extremely helpful. It was all set up when we arrived. Additionally, as we had a full kitchen and grill, they have a grocery service that will pick up groceries before you get there. We arrived at 2AM our time (8PM Hawaii time) and all of our groceries were put away in the fridge and on the counter ready for us to use. It was a very nice thing after 14+ hours of travel. Check in was very smooth with clear instructions of how to use the property. We had a Deluxe Ocean View which meant we were in the last row. The views of the ocean were incredible with multiple whale sightings per day. The only downfall of this is that the walk down to the pool or the hotel was a little longer. However, if you do want to go to the hotel, free valet was included in our stay which was a huge bonus. Additionally, when you don't want to drive, there is a daily shuttle service you just text to get picked up that runs until 8PM (however the valets take over after 8PM) Our concierge helped us book 99% of our activities. We also had a reservation as Mama's fish house, which you have to book months in advance. At the last minute we had another guest wanting to join us for dinner and the concierge was able to contact the restaurant and add the additional guest. This was a fantastic trip and if you have any questions I am more than happy to answer it!!…
Top Notch Service. Did everything in their power to ensure everyone had a wonderful time! We stayed in the Ho’olei Villas and they had everything we needed! They made sure everything was set-up for us in advance and we wanted for nothing! Highly recommend the villas for a large family! We will definitely plan another trip here in the future.
Grand Wailea is truly a Grand experience. For a Hotel that was built in 1991 it still has the unique Island charm and luxury you’d come to expect from a Waldorf Astoria chain Hotel. Pull up through the expansive grounds past the amazing water fall feature to the lobby where you’re surrounded by the beautiful landscaping, flowers and plants. Upon first steps into the lobby, you’re introduced to the Island Breeze, warmth of the Sun and beautiful scents of Maui. We stayed in two separate Room categories, the 1-bedroom NAPUA Club Suite and the 3-bedroom HO’OLEI Villa. The NAPUA Club Suite was centrally located within the Hotel and offered guests private dining, bar service and appetizers served daily for Guests in that room category. The selections were modest, the service excellent and it provided a convenience if you chose not to get dressed up to go out for dinner. The Rooms were well appointed, comfortable and outfitted with local artistry and decor to give it that Maui charm. Our HO’OLEI Villa was outstanding, it was located across the street from the Grand Wailea property, however the Shuttle service was surprisingly fast and made it effortless to move back and forth between the properties. Send a text to the concierge and within a few minutes the shuttle is at your doorstep or at one of the Hotel’s lobby’s for pick-up. The HO’OLEI Villa’s offer an ensemble of amenities. Large Bedrooms, Kitchens, Dining areas, multiple Bathrooms, Garage and 2 levels, 3200 sq.ft. of living space. For families or large groups looking for space and want to leave the Hotel rooms behind, the HO’OLEI Villas offer that luxurious experience. In addition to your own private Villa, enjoy the area’s Pool, Gym, and amenities that are exclusive to the HO’OLEI Villa guests. For families with younger kids, you’ll be delighted by the largest water park on the Island. Enjoy the Lava Tube Waterpark & Waterslides, Pools, plunge Pools, grotto Bar, lazy River and the very unique water Elevator to move you from the bottom of the waterslides back to the top within a minute. For Adults looking to escape the kids & family areas, the Hibiscus Pool is up another level on the property, offers breathtaking views of the Wailea Beach and Ocean Bay. The Grande Spa is one of the best Spa’s we’ve encountered. The Spa offers a variety of ancient Hawaii and World culture treatments for guests looking for that extra pampering. The Hydrotherapy Pools are a great way to spend an afternoon relaxing and rejuvenating your body. The resort offers a variety of Restaurants but our favorite was Humuhumunukunukuapua’a, the catch of the day or local fresh and interesting dishes will delight your senses and tastebuds. The Beach is expansive and your toes sink into the beautiful soft sand. We enjoyed our daily swim in the warm Ocean Water and relaxing on this beautiful Beach. Enjoy the walk or run down the beach with a paved trail that runs along the Wailea area connecting many of the Hotels along that stretch of the Island. The Hotel can arrange a variety of adventures, but we chose to rent a Jeep and embark on the journey to Hana which provides a unique Maui experience in itself. We highly recommend doing so, stopping at the local cafés, waterfalls, banana bread canteens and the sought-after Red Beach. If you enjoy Golf there are several beautiful courses nearby and the Wailea Golf Club has 3 championship golf courses to choose from, the Gold, Blue and Emerald offer world class Golf with views that make it hard to keep your eye on the Ball. It’s just a short 10min drive from the Hotel. The Grand Wailea is a luxurious family destination offering something for everyone. The Hotel is on the pricey side, however sometimes you get what you pay for, the Grand Wailea delivers on that promise. We were delighted with the service, staff, Villa, amenities, Pools, Spa and how well the property was upkept. Our family is already planning our next visit and we cannot wait to return to the Grand Wailea.…
The Villas at Ho'Olei are adjacent to Grand Wailea and a fantastic option for travelers looking for multiple hotel rooms / bedrooms during a Maui vacation. We booked a 3 bdr / 4 bath unit with an ocean view and have nothing but positive things to say about the staff and experience. The facilities are well-cleaned daily (!) and staff take Covid-19 precautions seriously. We loved our unit and would come back for a future stay. Due to the affiliation with Grand Wailea, we enjoyed access to the entire resort, including pools and beachfront, and loved walking around the entire Wailea area for shopping and dining. As of January 2021, a number of restaurants have opened for outdoor dining and restrictions are in place for socially-distant access to shops.
If I could give this resort a "10" I would. Large, roomy, comfortable, full-sized kitchen with every imaginable piece of cookware and utensils. There was an upstairs patio complete with a gas grill. Two downstairs bedrooms had sliding glass doors with walk-outs. Our unit had three bedrooms each with its own bathroom, plus another half bath. The unit had a washer and dryer and plenty of towels for the condo, pool and the beach. There were also lawn chairs and sand toys for the beach, which was about a quarter of a mile away. We opted mostly for the resort's pool. It had everything from chairs, umbrellas, a wading area, a waterfall to stand under. Our unit was only about 75 yards from the pool
We stayed at the Villas at Grand Wailea (otherwise known as Ho'olei at Grand Wailea). We stayed for a week and the accommodations are incredible. We stayed in unit 63-1 which was decorated in a very non-Hawaiian manner. The really ornate and dark decor was not at all comfortable or inviting. It was polar opposite of what you would expect in a luxury Hawaiian home, especially given the price. The view was incredible from the lanais and we were able to spot whales in the morning and evening. The WiFi also didn't consistently work in all the rooms. Other than that, the resort was incredible. If you care about what the inside looks like, I would recommend asking for pictures. The staff are amazingly attentive and helpful. They go the extra mile and then some. We loved having the option of a smaller, less crowded pool that was exclusive to the Villas community + workout space. And we had easy access to the Grand Wailea as it's right across the street. For the Grand Wailea, it's huge...and gorgeous! We learned that beach chairs + umbrellas are first come, first serve but if you put your name on the list at the Activity Center it's not a problem. My kids loved the various water slides, water elevator and all the activities. The drinks are crazy overpriced (cocktails are legit $17). So, make a trip to the grocery store on your way in. The Villas shuttle service will take you anywhere within the Wailea community which is great if you don't have a car. We were there for mid-winter break so it was relatively crowded. Making reservations in advance for activities such as whale watching, snorkel tours is highly recommended. Don't bother with the hotel restaurant above the pool - over priced and quality of food wasn't good. Definitely recommend Grand Wailea. It's the best!…
We just returned from a week in a 3 bedroom deluxe 2 story ocean view villa. The unit had been remodeled and was gorgeous. Two of the three bedrooms had ample closet and drawer space, but the third room did not. Had trouble with the televisions working, and could not get the bbq grill on the patio to work. Positives are great patios upstairs and downstairs, beautiful finish out, large modern kitchen, garage for rental car, shuttle on call for rides to and from the Grand Wailea and anywhere in Wailea. Hoolei also has a good workout facility, nice pool, and great concierge staff. Cons are not on the beach, not all rooms have ample space, technical trouble with tv's and appliances, and not many activities are in Wailea. Most if not all snorkel trips leave from ports at least 30 minutes away, and ziplining was almost an hour away, so we were driving to and from Lahaina and Kaanapali most days for activity. If you want to stay in Wailea primarily, this resort is for you!…
We enjoyed our family stay at Ho’olei over Christmas with Exclusive Resorts. The condo units were somewhat tired / not as luxurious as we might have hoped, but it was great to have the extra space, full kitchen, and patio with ocean views. The fitness facility was nice, and we really appreciated the complimentary shuttle service within Wailea (you do not need a car unless you plan on being very adventurous). The Grand Wailea pools were super crowded and not necessarily relaxing for adults, but our kids (5 and 8) loved the water slides and lazy river. The walking trail was also beautiful at sunset. Our other favorites in Wailea: Monkeypod Happy Hour, Luau at Marriott, and sunrise snorkel.
By "group", I mean another couple or two or a family reunion gathering. In our case, we were extremely fortunate to be invited by a couple we've known on Oahu for many years. It was going to be the four of us spending three days. Since this was part of their "time share" program, for us, there was no charge other than our desire to thank our friends in other ways while there. Sadly, an unexpected family situation popped up at the last minute with them. So, we ended up spending three days all by ourselves in this HUGE accommodation. When we say "huge", we mean it. Like others who have described their accommodations, our unit was very similar. In particular, both the master living room and kitchen areas were expansive. The TVs were great! The outside balcony lanai was also plenty large with even a barbeque setup that we never used. However, you can really get great sunset/sunrise views from outside on balcony or just inside. The owners must have included every conceivable gadget and supply for the kitchen. There were so many gadgets, that we had to spend some time just to find those items we typically use. Also, we had to learn how to operate some of the items (ie. coffee maker w/o carafe; dishwasher). The garage was just the right size for our rental vehicle. Again, it was supplied with items we never used. We even had a "local host" provided. This person (Serkan) was very good at initially contacting us and orienting us to the unit. He even said to contact him during our entire stay if we needed anything else. So, we took him up on that when we had issues with some of the appliances. He wasn't quite as responsive during those events, but we figured it out on our own eventually. We also made contact with him upon departure.…
We stayed here for 5 days last week and have very mixed feelings. The property is huge with 9 pools, oceanfront access, restaurants, and other amenities and at first glance beautiful. As you begin to look around you can see that the property is in need of some simple but essential maintenance, and is clearly becoming well worn. The rooms are nice and bedding excellent providing a good night's sleep. Spacious bathrooms with separate toilet and shower were very nice. That's about it. The balcony was filthy and was never even swept during our stay and had some very well worn and soiled furniture which we removed. Passageways and entrances to rooms were also dirty and in need of general cleaning and paint. There are adult pools available, but finding chairs at any pool or at the beach was a daily challenge. The pools staff appeared put out at any request for beverages and they were not very available. Getting their attention was similar to hailing a cab in NYC. The beach is packed in with chairs side by side 4-5 rows up from the water and at least 100 across maybe 200. Umbrellas were provided by the very hard working pool staff. Only valet parking is available at $40 per day and guests are also assessed a $40 per day resort fee which in my mind is an act of larceny. Just these two items add $87.44 to your daily tab as they are subject to tax. The $46 per person breakfast buffet line is long and time-consuming and nothing special. We weren't crazy about this place and at $900-$1400 per night, there are better places in the area.…
