I don't understand the good reviews about this hotel. It's a resounding NO. Let's see, I'll make it easy for you: If you are looking for a hotel where you can let your children go and have them taken care of, okay, it will be good for you; But if like me you are looking for a hotel that is supposed to have 4 stars superior to give you the quality it has to give....don't even come close. The quality of the buffet is simply mediocre to the point of poor (in fact, I have had quality (not quantity, mind you) of much better buffets in hotels with less category). It's a bit like the entire hotel: A lot of façade but nothing of quality. Cardboard stone, so that we understand each other. The rooms, super sparse. You have to beg (literally) for a complimentary toothbrush, and if they give it to you, it's like everything the front desk has done: Like doing you a favor. Everything you ask for... it's like they're sparing your life.
To the spa.... don't go near it. Spa? I'll summarize it for you: A Jacuzzi, a sauna, a Turkish bath and a couple of seats. Spa? Spa....run away.
To get something positive out of all the negative: As I assume that all Servigroups will be more or less cut by the same tailor, it is worth our experience to not go back to another. There are waaaay better options. However, I repeat: If you have children and you want them (them, not you), to have entertainment, this is your hotel.
I was there on the long weekend from May 1 to 5, 2024, in case it helps.

Have stayed in 3 other Servigroup Hotels, all with good service but it has to be said the reception staff at this Servigroup hotel were brilliant. Special mention to Lys, ‘Jesus & Sara. Friendly, knowledgeable, extremely helpful with
all their duties carried out in a professional manner.
Stayed in the Superior room 5506 with a beautiful view of the sea and the famous castle. Bed very comfortable, walk in shower, hairdryer & toiletries supplied. No kettle in the room. WIFI strong. Cleaning of room done very well.
Huge selection at breakfast & dinner. If you don’t want to eat dinner you can swap to lunch instead. Staff all round from
dining hall, cleaners and especially reception all friendly and courteous.
Walk to Castle around 20 mins. Plenty of restaurants, cafes around the whole area.
If flying from Gatwick, fly to Valencia. Out of the airport follow signs to subway Metro trains. Take train to Xativa,
€1.75 per person. From Xativa get off train and head for the mainline station Estacio del Nord. From here take train to Benicarlo-Peniscola. Tickets cast €9.85 per person on the Renfe website or through Trainline where there is a small charge as well. Journey takes about 1 hr 55min. No refreshments on the train, make sure to buy water or snacks before boarding. Come out of the station, take taxi to hotel, journey about 15/20 minutes, cost €15.
If flying from London Stanstead, you would need to take flight to Castillon then take the train to Peniscarlo.
Lovely place to visit and highly recommend this hotel. We had a good holiday. Many thanks.

We were in a group with an English company in Spain where we live. The hotel although big was beautiful, well maintained to a high standard with friendly staff. The food was amazing for such a large hotel! I would highly recommend this hotel. The only down side was that you need to bring your own pool towels or pay €18 to buy one! I have never been yo a Hotel where you do not have a complementary towels with a deposit!

A little disappointed, on the outside I saw it in a different category, due to the history that preceded it and the price you pay.
The room is very fair in size, the elevators are very responsive, the bar closes around midnight (seriously, including Thursday and Good Friday), the entertainment for the kids is the best, and the staff's attention is also very good. Oh, and whoever uses the gym, congratulations because I imagine that when you charge for the use of the gym (they don't tell you that when you look for a hotel) the equipment will be almost new, I didn't see anyone enter the gym in the 5 days.
The quality of the food is very good, according to its category, but the fact that they picked up half of it when there are 3/4 hours left before closing and that feeling of being overwhelmed to get the food, does not correspond to the category, I did not eat very taste, really.
Summary, a hotel that disappointed me a little and that has prices disproportionate to the services.
The best is the animation, the staff and the situation

The service was good, the food would be very convenient if they used less frozen food (quite improvable, less quantity and more quality).
The attention of the employees is very good.
Parking is practically mandatory, because parking in the area is with a time zone.

+1
The friendly staff make this hotel the FAB experience that it is. From the gardeners, waiters, cleaners, chefs up to the ladies and gents behind reception, they are all FAB and are a credit to the hotel and the company ‘Service Group’. The hotel in general is clean, the rooms are large and have fridges and AC which is a bonus in this hot July weather. The breakfast, lunch and dinner is all buffet style and is tasty with lots of regional dishes very Spanish. The swimming pool is great, again clean and sun-bed hogging is NOT allowed. The hotel has its on private sun loungers and sun canopies on a fabulous sandy beach with the warm waters of the Mediterranean lapping at your feet. The sea is fabulous for little ones as it gently slopes and there’s not any strong undercurrents. The old town on Peniscola with its rich architecture, small cobble streets and superb restaurants, is only a ten minute walk. I believe we are currently the only Brits staying in the hotel, and to be honest this suits us. The likes of TUI JET2 etc haven’t yet accosted this hotel for the ‘fly n flop’ all inclusive Brits abroad, this is great news and personally my better half and I aren’t fans of full English breakfast everyday with pints of lager at 10am and a roast and two veg for lunch. If this is what you want, then Benidorm is an hour and a half’s drive down the road. Peniscola is very Spanish with lots of local eateries serving authentic Spanish food. If you want to visit this area and enjoy the superb Spanish hospitality and are not interested in eating McDonalds or Greggs, then Peniscola and Hotel Papa Luna will certainly fit the bill

Stayed in the superior seaview room, overlooking the beach, pool and castle. Amazing views from the wrap around terrace, worth the extra cost. The room had everything we needed. The communal areas were immaculately clean, brightly decorated and a pleasure to use. The staff, especially in the restaurant worked tirelessly to bring you a wonderful mealtime experience. The food was varied and very plentiful. Something for everyone in the buffetstyle dining area. The bar prices were very reasonable, especially for a beach front 4* hotel. 7€ for a cocktail, with live music every night. I would definitely like to visit again, as there was more of the area I would like to have seen. 4 days was not long enough.

In general, the staff was very good, they were always attentive if you needed anything, the rooms on the 7th floor had stunning views.
The food was good but I would invite the chef to take a look around
know the national gastronomy, the Madrid stew has nothing to do with the original, the beans are delicious but please don't call that Asturian fabada, the Biscayan-style cod the same and so on in various dishes that they want to imitate. I don't want to do this with this say they are wrong but call a spade a spade
Yes it is true that if I return to that area I would return to that hotel but if I put those suggestions

For several years now we have chosen Papa Luna to spend a few days in July and every year they surprise us with an offer. This year for a six-night stay they gave us a free visit to the spa.
What does not surprise us is the added value of the hotel, which is its staff who seem to compete to see who is friendlier. This year on the terrace of the cafeteria Ainhoa served us several times and we can only say thank you for her friendliness, her good work, a 15 rating.
Of the rest, little to add to what was said in other years, good buffet well attended by everyone, absolute cleanliness, it is rare not to find even a gram of sand in a hotel on the beach, reception, swimming pool, nightly performances, entertainment guys, etc everything in general very good, as always.
The only negative was that this year due to family circumstances we were only able to spend six nights.
Next year, God willing, we will make up for it and we will be there for more days.
Thank you all.

We stayed a week, and the hotel is amazing in terms of services and location.
The first night we could not sleep because our room overlooked the night show. We went down to reception and were offered another room a little further away. The rooms had opaque motorized curtains, with which no light entered (as with the typical blinds).
The amazing restaurant... very varied, homemade and quality food. They even prepare baby crushes (an area for improvement would be to offer more than just taxed, for example steamed vegetables, as many families no longer give babies crushes). They were continually replenishing what was spent, and show-cooking also amazing.
The unbeatable location, on the beachfront and "next door" to the Castle.
We will definitely REPEAT!!
