Unknown to me when I booked, shortly before my stay the T started service directly behind the hotel. As soon as I opened the door to my room, a train rattled by. I was tired from a cross-country flight and it was close to 11pm in the evening, but I knew I would be awoken each time a train passed. Back down to the registration deck, I asked for a different room. Unfortunately, no rooms not facing the tracks were available. Not a surprise since I checked in so late. I asked to change hotels but was informed by the Assistant Manager, Michelle, who was rude and not interested in my concerns. Undoubtedly, she was dealing with this on a regular basis. I then spoke with an agent at Marriott reservations, but was informed that they needed the hotel to release the reservation since I had already checked in. I felt suckered. As a Titanium Elite at Marriott, I have hundreds of room night stays over the last decade. This experience goes down as the worst. While the train is not the fault of the hotel, rude and unhelpful staff is and only makes matters worse. First and last time I will stay at this hotel. If you do need to stay here, confirm in advance that you will have a room facing the Main Street (still no picnic but cars are better than trains) and avoid Assistant Manager Michelle like the plague.…
The hotel is very clean and comfortable. The staff are friendly and very professional. Breakfast was nicer than most- premade soufflés and breakfast sandwiches plus the usual fruit, yogurt, etc. This is one of the nicest Fairfield Inns that I have stayed at.
Very clean hotel, nice room, close to many attractions. Staff also very nice. Breakfast was ok, it seems most hotels are doing packaged food. That is too processed for us, so just had a yogurt. The Women at breakfast had very good customer service. Parking cost was reasonable!. I would recommend this hotel.
Very comfortable room with excellent service by all of the hotel staff. Everything was clean and it was very quiet at night. Modern styled hotel that is a great value for the price range. Early check-in and baggage storage were available. The breakfast was a "Grab and Go" style with pre-packaged food; at a previous stay here, there had a been a buffet which was much better than the pre-packaged breakfast, but it is still nice to have breakfast included! This is my go-to hotel for the Cambridge/Boston area and I would highly recommend it to all. The Green Line Lechmere subway/bus station is just steps away which is also very convenient.
This hotel is my "go to" for business travel when I frequent East Cambridge. The rooms are a great value and now that Lechmere Station is up and running it is even more convenient if you plan on taking the train. There are numerous places to grab meals within walking distance and Galleria Mall is a couple of blocks away as well. The staff are great and I have relied on Tommy at the front desk to help with any issues as he is very responsive and flexible to work with when you need something. They also offer a free and convenient breakfast if you need to eat before you start your day.
