It is definitely a place you want to get a car rental for. There is a free shuttle that you can take to the town centre from Longs Drugstore but you do have to do a 15 min walk up hill to catch it. You can’t go very far with it.
Most of the resort staff including maintenance were very friendly and nice. The front desk staff were helpful and kind. The reason for the 3 star rating was the activities rep. She was very rude and not helpful in any manner. She first refused to help us saying my moms name was not on the account. We then contacted our timeshare company and they ensured us it was. She is the only activities rep and is off on weekends. So we had to wait two days to inquire again. We went back on Monday and she refused to help us again or even allow us to go to a timeshare presentation as my dad (mom’s husband) was not present. She said my mom needed my dads permission to book anything including activities. She refused to book anything or give any information as my dad physically wasn’t here. This is the first time we have ever experienced this at any resort. She also denied me the opportunity to go to the timeshare presentation on my own being a single woman saying I didn’t qualify but couldn’t tell me why. It was a very sexist experience and really spoiled some of our trip.
The staff is great in trying to help with any issues that arose.
Checking In/Out was quick and easy.
Beautiful, well kept grounds.
Large, bright living room space
Walking distance to a beach.
CONS:
**We were in building 2 and the underground parking is very far away. The only close available parking lot was for Check In/Out Only and is posted as such.
**A/C broke down
**Refrigerator broke down
**Furniture and appliances are outdated, interior walls/floors need repairs
**This is a townhouse style unit. Bedrooms downstairs, living upstairs. About 10-12 stairs between levels. I do not recommend this place if you have trouble with walking/stairs.
This resort is south of Kona which is an easy drive. There is a mall nearby for restaurants and groceries. Most of the beaches on the Big Island are rocky and not sandy. To the north of Kona is some sandy beaches.
We really like that we could park a rental car in an underground garage so it did not get hot.
If you love Pickleball, this is the place for you. They have converted most of their Tennis courts to Pickleball.
It is a drive to the Kailua-Kona area which where most restaurants and shops are located. Nearby is a KTA grocery store, pizza restaurant, and Tavern. Being a drive away from those areas means this area is pretty quite. You'll sleep well!
Also, having a kitchen and the ability to wash your clothes in Hawaii is nice. We looked at booking hotel rooms, but are glad we went the Condo route.
