This was our first time on Big Island, so we didn't know Kona or what the area was like. The picture on the website looked pretty meh, so I kind of had lower expectations. But everything looked like they were recently upgraded. Room was clean and well maintained. The breakfast is standard Holiday Inn stuff and under COVID protocol, you had to line up and ask staff for food. But since everything is expensive on Hawaii, the free breakfast definitely saved some money. The parking is convenient and being located along Ali'i drive is nice to walk around. I'm not sure if we didn't get there during prime hours or what, but a lot of the stores were closed. The area feels like a beach town, and a lot more laid back than Waikiki. Having a car is important, as I think a lot of the nice beaches are driving distance. We drove 2 hours to see the volcanoes and we did the manta ray snorkeling which is nearby. The pool and hot tub looked standard, but we didn't use them.…
Clean rooms. No housekeeping until day 5. Stingy towel rations. Really absurd. Only 2 people allowed in tiny gym at a time, by appointment only. Seriously? Breakfast terrible, powdered scrambled eggs and very limited options. Extra $10/ day to park on top of sky high rates. Pool also tiny. Not a good value.
I picked Holiday Inn because it had all amenities I figured I'd need-microwave, fridge, hair dryer, iron, coffee maker. The clerk was very welcoming and held my bag as I arrived to Big Island before check-in time. The room was clean and comfortable. I asked for first floor room and received one as I have arthritis and do not like elevators. I enjoyed my stay there. It was convenient to the popular Ali'i Drive and also ATM/bank, grocery store and restaurants. My only complaint would be the breakfasts. Not real fresh food, no variety on fruit (apple everyday...I know an apple a day....) packaged muffins. I would like to have seen more local items from Hawaii available. Also, I know the pandemic is changing service, but I really missed having beds made everyday and fresh towels-although they did say you can fill out form on any housekeeping needed.…
People were great. Low on towels and coffee. Service rooms every 5 days. For over 400 a night there are much better deals out there. Not a good stay for me On the good side well maintained ,pool was good ,breakfast was fine. It just seemed to be a place that is not well managed.
The hotel was very clean and well maintained. Our room was very quiet. It included a mini-fridge which was great for our beverages. The complimentary breakfast was average. Hotel and parking could use more visible signage.
