Detailed Reviews
Don't even hesitate to book this property. If you have never been to Kona, this is the perfect place. Definitely get an ocean front building it is absolutely worth it. The facilities are beautiful with landscaping to rival a botanical garden, a private small black sand beach, immaculate tennis courts and a nearby surf and boogie board beach. We stayed here as we are surfers and divers and the location was perfect. We also used the pool a bit and it was perfectly nice but nothing to keep us occupied all day. The condos all seem to have the same floor plan - plenty of room for up to 6 people. The sun sets directly over the ocean front view - we ate on the lanai for all meals as we could not find a restaurant with a better view.

This out of the busy but close to food location was great with amazing views. The grounds are beautifully manicured and quiet. Nice pool, grills, outdoor shower, beach is close, and great spot on the rocks. The condo was clean and well stocked. I wish they gave shampoo and conditioner but the store was up the road for shopping and cooking. Nice to sit on the quiet patio and sip some local coffee. This is a great little spot to visit with a central location to a major road for travel/ exploration.

This is my second time to the Surf & Racquet. We stayed in Condo 3-201 . We had a perfect view of the water and could hear the waves rolling all night and beautiful birds in the morning. The condo is perfectly clean and had all the conveniences (laundry, etc.) plus tennis racquets, boogie boards, snorkeling equipment, etc. Our three children were with us and we all enjoyed the pool and the beautiful grounds. Walking to the supermarket and to get crepes in the morning was a treat. I think a lot of people retire here and I can see why. Totally relaxing place!

Raid, ants, roaches, and mildew - not cool!
The photos of this area are amazing. We walked into the condo #187, which was rented to us my aloha condos, the first thing we experienced were ants all over the lockbox and front door, my husband used a water bottle to clean them off so we can access the box. The strong odor of raid greeted us as we walked into the unit. Not a great impression, we figured, okay we’ll just open it up and air it out. The view was just breathtaking! I wish the owners kept the unit up, so it could be as amazing as the view. This unit is two story as with the other “townhomes” on site, the a/c was only downstairs, thus the staircase and rooms felt like walking into a sauna or a laundromat. Upstairs reeked of raid and mildew combined, we all took a shower and wanted to go to bed, the towels smelled of urine and mildew. The downstairs bathroom had no hot water, YES, we contacted the owner immediately, they didn’t reply at all, however the booking agent did, she said “Rita will be there first thing in the morning” we waited till 11:00 local time for her and she was a no call no show. Therefore we went to the Hilton and stayed there. As I said, the views were amazing, no where to relax downstairs in the living room, as the couch was made for two people not 4 adults. This was a disappointment x a million. PS. The owner still has not responded to any of my 16 requests (phone and email) .

Been coming to KSR for years. Our preference is a first floor unit. Very nice set up in the units, well appointed and maintained. Each is different, so go through the offerings to see the view and such. There are Veronica gas grills set up to grill on. Withe the Farmer's Market close, you can get really fresh fish for the grill. Great snorkeling is closeby. A slow drive to town for shopping or heading north but going south for South Point or the Volcano is easy.

Stayed here for a month in Sept 2021. Beautiful grounds, many tropical plants and trees meticulously maintained, and a lovely pool. Just sitting on the lanai and watching the ocean was all that I wanted. A few minutes away is the Keauhou shopping center with th very excellent KTA grocery store, a Longs Drugs, and a Saturday farmer's market for local organic produce. Plus several decent restaurants. As a solo traveler I felt very safe here. And very happy!

I think it was unit 301 ( bottom floor corner building 3). They supplied everything you need for great Hawaii vacation. Towels, umbrella, coolers, snorkel gear etc
We had gorgeous sunset views and all amenities. Walls/doors are not sound proof. Could hear upstairs neighbors and son snoring in other room.
It is 1/3 the price of Waikaloa area, because beach is not as close or as nice. We got a bit banged up at local snorkeling beach due to lava rocks. But we really enjoyed ourselves!!
Mahalo.

It is a really nice hotel/apartment! They have a ton of amenities including a pool, tennis/racquet/pickle ball, courts, and a big “backyard.” The hotel is really close to the water, and has a great view of the shoreline! There is a lot of space, and great places to run for those morning runners! You can get your steps in at a lot of different places, like the beach, the road, etc. The hotel has a entrance to the shoreline. Also, there is a lot of beaches nearby, like Magic Sands Beach, which we really enjoyed. There is a lot of good snorkeling beaches nearby, too. I really recommend this hotel!!!

Lovely ground floor unit #301, good breezes, well furnished, great views. Can hear folks upstairs some. Complex large. Nice location away from the busyness of Kona with a shopping center and one beach park for snorkelling within walking distance. Lots of space to recreate by pool, pickleball courts and volleyball area but some families use grassy strip in front of patios as a play area. Gets noisy and disturbs enjoying time outside if you prefer less activity, especially at sunset. Wish we had known this in advance. Contacted management, they suggested we book another unit in the future to avoid this. ☹️

We stayed in a lovely, recently updated townhouse. The manager was friendly and willing and made herself available to help if required. Proximity to the ocean was excellent and I loved walking over to have a coffee and watch the surf, and if lucky a whale.

Hi, The pool key should’ve been provided by the manager of the complex when you rented your place
It's really how you deal with heat. The units we have been in stayed reasonably cool with the fans on and windows open. I grew up in Sacramento; Kona's more comfortable in summer.
There is a list of rules as you enter the pool...most of them are common sense things as I recall like "no radios" or such things. The other that I specifically remember being broken by everyone was "shower before entering". (There is an outdoor shower post beside the pool). While I can't recall most of the rules, I do recall thinking that it's a shame that common courtesy has to be legislated.
No, covered parking was not available. I did see several cars that had car-covers on them.
