Our stay here was wonderful. It was close to things we wanted to do, but yet out of town. Perfect location! Lots of things to do on site, if you just want a day to relax. The condo we rented was wonderful. Highly recommend!!

My wife and I, along with two other couples, spent a relaxing seven-night stay here last week. The weather was perfect! The name of the property is a little bit misleading. To me it connotes a beachfront hotel with lots of activities and excitement. Well, it's not on the

I wouldn't know. I normally visit the big island in August/September time frame. There have bee some ongoing updates of different buildings, so the best bet would be to contact the resort directly. I'm sure if there are still updates going on, they would be happy to let you know.

Do you need to rent a car if staying here?
Yes, It is nowhere close to anything, and you can't even get to water. There is very little to do at the "resort" except stay inside, golf, or go in the tiny pool. If you want to go the the stores close by, it's a pretty steep hike.

I would say yes, there isn't much you can do around the resort and it is a good 10min drive to downtown where the bars and restaurants are. There is one restaurant on site and a grocery store up the hill (10min walk), but not much else. We had a car for the entire time and did a couple of tours around the island, totally worth it. Some of the best beaches are up north (Koahala Coast) which is 30min away by car and I don't think there are buses to get you up there. The Kona Coast doesn't have beach access, so having a car is really a good idea.

They used to have 24/7 desk service but in August they started closing earlier (11PM I think.) Best to call and ask! (808.322.8220 maybe? Or check website)
