The cabin we had was really ok. It’s very old and in need of some repairs, but seemed clean. Our room had a heavy bleach smell when we walked in, which was fine with us. Unfortunately, when the bleach odor abated, the urine smell in the bathroom became almost unbearable. The bathroom was clean, but that smell was very apparent. Had to leave the bathroom door shut when not in use. If not for this, the room would have been fine. I don’t think we’d stay here again.

Chalet Motel has fully met my expectations. The location is great for proximity to Mt. Rushmore and Crazy Horse monuments. We had the smallest room with one queen bed. A bit tight but adequate for two. The furniture is older as is the bathroom but the water in the shower is hot with great pressure. The bathroom amenities are great. The towels soft and fluffy. Michelle at the front desk is very helpful and an excellent communicator. My only compliant is the hangers - they are the kind that don't come off the rod!

Loved the cute little cottages. The hotel was very clean and pillows/bed were comfortable. Normally stay at Hiltons when we travel, but this was a fun change of pace. Would definitely do it again. My only complaint has nothing to do with the hotel, but with the location....if you want food passed 8 PM its hard to find in Custer right now.

This is a very homely nice seasonal hotel. I found it through booking.com and I liked what I saw. There are 1 & 2 room options and this place has been around since 1937. It is the last hotel before you head out of town right next to a great little coffee shop and right across from an awesome Little Rock shop.

If you're looking for a traditional hotel experience, this may not be the place for you. What Chalet Motel offers is a reasonably priced, vintage experience perfectly placed to enjoy everything that the Black Hills has to offer. Michelle, the owner, gives everything a personal touch and is a wealth of information about the area. Our room was comfortable, well appointed, and included a cute kitchenette. Would recommend and would stay again!
