I think the hotel is really nice, and everyone who works there is friendly. We had an issue with our room and got it changed immediately and that was terrific. But the rooms are lovely and they have a definite aesthetic, but the bathrobe was arained, the curtain, was torn, there was only one garbage can… The bathroom needs more hooks and a place to rest your toiletries. These are small details that added up to a short of shabby genteel feel. Which is very historic and cool but…

Hotel's Favourite
My stay was fabulous. The Ponchartrain is definitely a gem in the Garden District. Upscale and classy in every sense of the word. What makes this hotel shimmer and shine are the employees. Front desk personnel Josh and Jerry always ready with a smile and great advice. Freddie, Mike, and Lindsay always pleasant and I enjoyed my chats with them. They made me feel not only like a welcome guest but a friend. I will never forget this trip and can't wait until I return to the history, beauty and hospitality that is the Ponchartrain Hotel.

The location on the Trolley line and was close enough to the Bourbon Street madness but far enough away that it was quiet in the neighborhood at night. Great proximity to Magazine Street and the Garden District. We spent time at both bars and got drinks at Jack Rose. The Chasing Sunrise was our favorite drink of the weekend. Hot Tin has outstanding views and the Bayou Bar had a great band the night we were there. Really great to end your night there and head up to the room. We loved our room. Comfortable and clean.

I adore this quirky Uptown New Orleans gem! Great restaurants and bars inside, large and comfortable rooms, the interior design that’s part 50’s tiki lounge part maiden aunt’s parlor, and most of all the incredibly friendly, highly competent, and super helpful front desk people. Do yourself a favor and step away from the French Quarter chaos and stay here. There is a streetcar stop across the street that will whisk you from the gardenia scented lobby to the quarter. Without a doubt this is THE BEST place to stay in New Orleans. I stay here whenever I can and it never disappoints.

We stayed at the Pontchartrain Hotel in early May and l-o-v-e-d it. We'd driven from Austin along the Cajun coast so we were already a little primed for the unique Louisiana mindset. I can't speak too highly about Josh and the genuine attention he paid us. He knew who we were on arrival and then ensured our stay was as smooth as possible with taking care of restaurant reservations etc. We loved our room (a suite with truly unique artwork) but we also loved the care and attention showed by the staff, from the dapper Jerry at the front desk to the kindness shown by Josh. Thank you & we hope to return!
