I had such an easy and creative experience with Hotel Peter and Paul. I am a commercial photographer and I felt that various scenes (there are SO MANY) would work to help tell the story of my client. My client was NOT disappointed and marveled at the spots we DIDNT go too! So much to choose from and the staff was so accomodating.
The hotel is beautiful taking on the convent-school history of the building while still being quite modern and comfortable. The staff were amazing - finding me a kitchen still open when my plane arrived late and being incredibly accommodating. Easy walk to the French Quarter and close to some great Bywater restaurants - this is a great place to stay.
Charming and spotless room, helpful staff (thank you for the umbrella loan), gorgeous garden bar, hand crafted drinks and amazing coffee the next morning in the cafe… if there weren’t so much to do in the city, we would have been perfectly happy spending our entire trip here.
I stayed in the School House Petite for 4 days and 3 nights. Check-in and out was easy. I liked the idea of texting the front desk if I needed anything. The hotel is beautiful and the neighborhood is awesome. It's about a 20-minute walk from the French Quarter. I would definitely stay in the neighborhood again. However, I would NOT stay in the hotel again nor would I suggest it to a friend or family member. The room I stayed in was small which is fine, again I stayed in the School House Petite and it was just me. However, I was surprised there wasn't a fridge or a safe. In addition, I think there was something wrong with my AC. It took a while for the room to cool each day and night. I don't think the number on the thermostat matched the actual temperature in the room. It was also quite loud. I did not try the cafe but I did dine at the restaurant for one night. I had the chicken dish. It was not good. It was not very well seasoned, it was a bit rubbery, but at the same time not cooked all the way and overpriced. Some of this was not surprising because the dish came out very quickly after placing my order. The cocktail drinks were good. Later when reading the reviews about the restaurant I realized they are mostly about the drinks rather than the food so this makes sense. My biggest issue is that the hotel staff confused me for a member of their staff twice. Besides the fact we are both Black with braids, we look nothing alike.…
I once stayed in a hotel where previous guests included Bob Dylan and the Emperor of Japan. It was very nice, but this was nicer. Peter and Paul stands alone in the unique setting, the beauty of its furnishings, the chef, the warmth of the employees and, well, everything! We had an ice cream parlor on the same floor! A wonderful little coffee shop and the exquisite bar, which was just named one of the top 27 in America. Dining in the old church with the stained glass windows while a piano provided background music, combined with the excellence of the menu (grilled beef shoulder and blackened redfish that was better than lobster) made for an unforgettable evening. Our room had 12-foot ceilings, gorgeous furniture and a clawfoot bathtub. Can't wait to return.
