I liked the retro quirkiness of this hotel, but there were some issues. We stayed in the small rooms, not suites and the bathrooms were TINY. There was hair in our shower and our friend's coffee maker had leftover coffee in it. The a/c barely cooled the room. The beds were not very comfortable. We did enjoy sitting outside and the location was great for walking the trails and downtown. I would stay here again, but I don't think my husband or our friends would agree.
We absolutely loved this motel. We have never stayed in Hot Springs so I read all the reviews and decided on the Happy Hollow. My husband likes to sit outside so the patio made the final decision and he loved it. We were on the patio most of the time. We were surprised at the deer standing across the road and watching us. The rooms were very clean and the innkeeper was excellent. He made sure we had everything we needed. Bed was very comfortable. Loved the older style of the rooms. The bathroom needs to be a little larger in the room we stayed in but otherwise it was perfect for us. The motel is in a great location and within walking distant of the downtown area. We will definitely stay at the Happy Hollow again.
I've stayed at The Happy Hollow a few times and love this location. A great price, walking distance to everything you'll want to do downtown, private parking, KITCHENS (so less eating out), literally across the street from a hiking trail... This is a wonderful spot. This is an old hotel which has been renovated a few times, so it has all the little quirks one could expect. I'm a little sad that it has lost some of the "60s/ 70s" vibe, but the new look is clean and sleek, and brighter. Note: bring utensils for cooking as well as pots and pans, bring dish soap and a towel for use in the kitchen. (And, if you forget anything, there are shops less than 10 min. away by car.)
$85 night, Immaculately clean, comfy beds, courteous staff. We parked car and walked everywhere all weekend. LOVED it! Highly recommend. National Park is across the road. Restaurants, shops walking distance.
Stayed a few nights and really enjoyed the art deco vibe of our room and even the closet! Great location and the place was clean and tidy with nice linens and decent towels. Fountain Avenue can get loud with bikers visiting the spring up the street so be prepared. Will come back for sure.
