We had a booking for March 2020 with one night prepaid. When the COVID forced us to cancel our trip, the team told us we would be refunded but asked for our support in converting our refund into a voucher, what we kindly accepted. Sadly, the situation regardind the COVID didn't improve during 2020 and it is not possible for us to travel to Bali. I then explained the situation and asked our voucher to be refunded. Since that, I still have no answer to my message. Not even a word to explain it is not possible. Just silence and contempt. This is the spirit at Amertha. Good to be understood before considering any stay in this establishment. We are far from luxury standards they claim.

We had a great stay at this resort,the location is good, surroundings are beautiful, activities currently offered are some water activities and temple tours. Staff was very friendly and attentive. Hand washing stations and sanitizer are available, as well as temperature checks on arrival. It has to be said that the resort is slightly older, the price reflects that and is therefore good value for money.

My family of 4 decided on Amertha even though we had enjoyed our previous stays in another resort further up the road. We wanted to have easier access to the restaurants nearby this time, and for the children, they wanted to visit the turtle sanctuary nearby. The staff replied to my emails before arriving promptly and efficiently, as I had enquirers pertaining to the special needs of my two children with autism. We were looking forward to a good stay and even after arriving, we felt welcomed because the staff we met were all smiles. The villa we were given was well maintained, the grounds and pool as well. Only qualms we had was the kitchenette outside the villa was exposed to the environment, and all food items should be covered up. We could not use the coffee/tea sachets as they were exposed and had lizard faeces on it. The kettle was also too rusty to boil water in. We were not that bothered by it though. However, wifi was really crawling. Most of the time, it was not working inside the villa, so if that matters to you, you have been warned. On the second day, a tour group arrived to much fanfare, loud gongs and instruments playing. Our villa was next to the pathway of the procession and my children started going berserk because of the sudden, really loud music playing. My husband and I took it in our stride and calmed the kids down after the whole thing passed. The reception was informed I had two special needs children who were sensitive to loud sounds, as I had earlier requested for a villa away from loud band music playing on one corner of the property. They did not inform us that this loud band was coming. The next morning, when we went for breakfast, we were told by the staff that we were not allowed to sit at the area, which was literally the whole restaurant. We were asked to occupy another sitting area further away that we did not want to sit at. When we asked why, they said this area was reserved for the tour group. I asked why were we not informed earlier, because there were other house guests too, and a waitress told us because the group paid more money than us, we cannot sit there. That was the rudest and most unacceptable service attitude! What made it worse was that this same group of waitress served us the day before and were courteous and smiling. Right then, they were not smiling and looked very annoyed that we were not complying. Meanwhile, I asked to see the manager. We waited for 15mins and no one appeared. No one asked us to sit and wait, and the whole restaurant was empty! They just stood there glaring at us and talking at us in Indonesian! We decided we were going to the reception to find out what was going on. After repeating our story again, a lady slowly sashayed out of the office and told us the group did not want to mix with other guests because for fear of the virus! How insulting to think that other hotel guests may carry the virus when they might actually be possible carriers themselves! I told the staff that they have handled this horribly. First, what the waitress said was unacceptable because we are all paying guests. If they had wanted the area cordoned, at least have the decency to inform the other hotel guests. Second, they had obviously chose to inconvenience other hotel guests in favour of this tour group, as they could choose to have their breakfasts at their villas if they had wanted social distancing. In fact, why travel at all just to inconvenience everybody else? The staff finally suggested that we be served at our villa and we gave up and complied. After breakfast, we packed up and left, even though we had another night’s stay booked. The reception staff was not concerned why we wanted to leave early, they were more concerned in ensuring that I understood that I would still have to pay for my third night of stay even though I am leaving earlier. We were disgusted enough we just paid and got out of there to return to the city earlier. The horrendous service attitude practised by the hotel staff, be it out of a lack of experience, mismanagement, or just outright discrimination, is totally unacceptable. Even if we were to give them a second chance staying with them again, we would find it hard to believe that their service was genuine as we had seen them do a Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde on us. The next time we go back to Pemuteran, we are never staying with them again.

It was very nice an comfy resort with good atmosphere and pretty & big garden, very nice staff and good area to rest, our villa had got a great swimming pool. It was very awesome and relaxing place and good for family with kids :-)

We stayed in Pemuteran for 5 nights, looking for a quiet seaside retreat to relax at, with some sightseeing. We decided on northern Bali rather than the busier southern locations that we have visited before. Amertha Villas turned out to be the ideal location for us, and we spent far more time just enjoying the facilities than on previous trips. Our villa (no. 10) had two rooms, one upstairs and one at ground level, both containing king-sized 4-post beds, dressing room, bathroom and verandah. The private courtyard has three separate shelters surrounding a lovely pool - one with a large daybed, one with a table and the other housing a kitchenette - and we spent most of our time in that area, in and out of the pool. Each day started with a short walk to at the hotel’s open seaside restaurant, where we invariably enjoyed a delicious Indonesian breakfast. Staff were plentiful and courteous and any requests were promptly addressed. Amongst other amenities, we went on a day snorkelling trip (lovely and had a yoga session. The only significant negative during our stay occurred on our first night, when loud, live music (?) from the property next door made conversation difficult from late afternoon until 10 in the evening. On enquiry we found that this occurs on Sunday evenings, so if you are there on a Sunday night it would be wise to request a room away from the North-western corner of the resort as it was not pleasant in our room. The rest of the week was peaceful, however.
