We are family of 3 (two adults and our teenage son) and had just enjoyed 3 night at the Hanging Garden Hotel om Bali. We have been picked up in Denpasar Airport by the hotel driver, received a very warm welcome and then got upgraded to Presidential Suite at the check in in the hotel. (Thank you for this kind gesture) The hotel is situated in the middle of the jungle with all that it means – tranquility, peace, sounds of nature, deep sleep and relaxation. The first thing that happens after you check in is a ride in an old style funicular through the jungle to your private villa.
Our suite was overlooking the Ayung River and was on the opposite site of the ancient Dalem Segara temple. The large pool was hanging over the stunning valley, surrounded by the rain forests. This presidential villa was very specious, had two bathrooms (inside and outside) traditional Alang Alang thatched high roof and the extremely large bed - Kind Size plus plus. It was also equipped with a private bubble pool overlooking the jungle.
In the morning Hotel served us an a la carte breakfast (ours was included) and it was experience on its own. Genuinely friendly and service oriented staff, fresh fruits of all sorts, amazing choices of healthy breakfast options, freshly squeezed juices and Indonesian coffee. While eating you were overlooking the Twin-Tired Cascading Pools surrounded by the jungle. A very special experience. Mindfulness.
Due to the fact that the hotel is located in the center of Ubud we were able to explore the surrounding areas, visit Ubud town, walk through the jungle to the Dalem Segara temple. We used the hotel offer and took a Morning Walk through the local villages, rice fields, river valley and the jungle. The resort guide introduced us to Balinese culture, showed us plants( we have tested fresh cacao and durian fruits directly from the tree) explain about the culture and different aspects of daily life in Ubud area.
Hanging Garden is a very special hotel. Nothing that we have experienced elsewhere. It gives you lots of privacy and the staff spoil you rotten. Their service is discreet, it is invisible, you can stay and enjoy the sounds of jungle and get rejuvenated in the middle of this natural paradise, and replenish your energy. I highly recommended it to all who appreciate beauty, tranquility, high quality, healthy food and meaningful time with yourself or people close to you.
If I could have a wish however, I would like for the shuttle to depart to Ubud town more than once a day. It would be great to be able to take it at 18:00 and come back with it at 21:00 to the hotel after enjoying Ubud town.

Dear mariolak, Thank you for your wonderful review! My heart melts when I read from you and it means the world for us that you chose Hanging Gardens of Bali to share your memorable moments with the family. I am thrilled when I know that you had embraced the jungle and enjoyed the morning walk. The jungle has more to offer, from the cascade of rice terraces, the rivers, local Balinese culture and the nature, especially the nature. Everything is blended in beautiful harmony surrounding our beautiful property. Your note on the shuttle is well taken. We will evaluate and see if we could offer this in the future. Ms. Mariola K, I am very delighted to have you here in the jungle. I look forward to welcome you back in the middle of mystical Ubud jungle! Warmest regards,

A true hidden Gem is right! Set high above and deep within the Jungle of Ubud, The Hanging Gardens of Bali will delight all your senses. We could try and describe the beauty of this amazing Hotel but it will not do it justice. You need to see this with your own eyes to fully appreciate everything the Hanging Gardens of Bali has to offer. We stayed in the Villa Pool suite and were thoroughly impressed with the scenery, amenities in the room and of course our own private Pool. We spent countless hours in the Pool gazing out to the Jungle, listening to all the sounds of the birds and watching the Monkey’s jump from tree to tree. From time to time, they’d come down from the Trees to our Patio to explore. The room was beautiful and comfortable, it made it hard to want to leave and go explore the Hotel. We highly recommend booking the Floating Boat Breakfast, the experience is one of a kind, the food is delicious and we enjoyed waking up to this incredible feast and sipping on our Mimosa’s watching the sunrise. Another highlight would be the Spa treatments we received at the Spa by the River. Set above the Holy River of Ayung, relax and listen to the rush of water and the sounds of the Jungle while enjoying your massage. We’ve had Spa treatments as couples all over the world, but this was by far our favorite experience and we loved every minute of how peaceful and tranquil this experience was. The English High Tea was incredible showcasing so many different delicacies; savor the Tea and Treats, sit back and enjoy the Jungle views. To cap off our Hanging Gardens dining experience with a Spiritual Journey we thoroughly enjoyed the Balinese Blessing Dinner. We were shuttled over to the Padmasana Temple and greeted by the local village Mangku. He performed his prayer ceremony symbolizing a purification of our body and soul. Once the ceremony concluded we were met by the Spa staff, they washed our feet and massaged them before dinner. The Chef prepared a delicious meal with some of our favourite local dishes (Mie Goreng & Nasi Goreng). We dinned under the stars surrounded by 100’s of candles and flowers beautifully arranged for our dining pleasure. The service and staff at the Hanging Gardens was outstanding, everyone we met was gracious and accommodating to our every request. The Hanging Gardens is truly a one of a kind experience, if your travels take you to Ubud, we highly recommend staying at the Hanging Gardens for an incredible Bali experience.

My wife and I stayed 3 nights and days at Hanging Gardens of Bali in the first week of October 2019 for our 30th anniversary. I wanted to write a review right after our stay, but I thought that it is better to do that later as I might be biased if I do that right away because we had awesome time there.

Now it passed almost 3 months and every time that we talked about that or even think about that, we fill with lots of joy and wonderful memories.

Everything about this resort is extraordinary, from the check in experience at reception to the take out breakfast package that we received at check out.

The check in was like being a guest in a friend’s house sitting in the living room and being offered refreshing and beautiful beverages by a nice and kind young lady.
All staff with their traditional dresses can speak English and they start conversation with you to make you feel at home. Give you information about the resort and Bali and try to be close to you by asking appropriate questions. Always want to offer you something to make you feel comfortable.

We got Champagne and chocolate with cookies, wonderful presents and special decoration in our bedroom for our anniversary and they offered a mini photo shoot with a framed photo of us.

The resort is located in the beautiful nature of mountain area with eye caching views from every angle, which makes you feel being in heaven.

You cannot ask for more comfort and better facilities inside the villa. You have everything. The personal infinity pool with absolute privacy is the highlight of the villa. You want to stay in the villa all day long but the attractions outside the villa make you leave and be drawn in the nature and all areas of the resort.

The well-designed infinity pools in the public area in front of restaurant is a gem and perfect for taking memorable photos and having relax time. We got complimentary snack and beverages when we were by the pool.

You can experience different unusual delicious fruits of the island with your awesome breakfast. The complimentary afternoon tea in a calm and quiet lounge close to the river is a bonus to the whole experience.

Yes, it is expensive. However, it worth it especially for celebration of unique occasions.

We were so excited to get to Bali to try out this hotel as it is portrayed one of the best hotels in Bali. Unfortunately we reached there and immediately felt disappointed by the room. We were warmly welcomed by the staff but the room we were given was unclean and full of insect we asked the staff to get us an insect repellent spray which we emptied twice in the room due to the amount of bugs (ants, spiders, lizards, mosquitoes) everywhere.

We reached out to the staff asking to spray our room while we were having dinner (which was a dinner in the dark due to light attracting the bugs). We barely saw what we were eating and it was an unpleasant experience.

We decided to put our fear of insects aside and put down the mosquito net around the bed and try to sleep our first night off (with long sleeved pyjamas). We kept on waking up due to weird feelings in the bed and decided to get out of bed at 4am (very stressful night). We found some ants in the bed, a lizard laying down dead on the wooden floor, mosquitoes on the net, flies in the bathtub, etc. You can imagine the rest.

After a morning trying to understand how all those insects got in, we found out that all windows, doors are not well isolated (small gaps everywhere) allowing every insect smaller that 1-2 cm in height to pass.

We proceeded to breakfast only to find out we were sitting on a table with spider nets that built up apparently over night.

We decided to make time pass and try out the pool which is very nice to be honest with an astonishing view (only positive comment).

Returning to our room we started emptying some of our clothes to find out that insects had infiltrated our open luggages in the rooms and this is when we decided that it was time to leave and no matter the huge amount we paid to get a villa with a private pool was not worth it. We called the reception to check-out and they were surprised and the only explanation given was that it was rainy season. We understand that jungle + rain = rise of insects, but it is not a reason to have a stressful stay. My wife and I barely spoke as we were looking for bugs all the time.

We thought of going to the Spa to have a massage but once we knew it is outdoors and next to the river, the plan completely vanished.

I heard people staying in different hotels during that time of the year in Ubud with very good isolation and no insects in the rooms whatsoever.

Once at checkout the staff apologized and offered us a different villa or to come back in the dry season to continue the rest of our stay 3 nights stay. We politely thank them for their efforts and decided to go back to one of the Bonvoy hotels located at the coast.

I personally do not recommend this hotel to anybody wanting to have a peaceful time with nature and especially not during the rainy season in Bali. I hope that the hotel works on modernizing their rooms and providing better isolation.

Dear Mr. Omar El Ghali, Thank you for taking the time to write your review. Before I go to your substance, kindly allow me to explain our geographical condition here at Hanging Gardens of Bali. Wild life are part of the forest and our wonderful guests often enjoy viewing monkeys and exotic birds around the botanical neutral gardens. Of course, Sometimes few insects are finding a way from the jungle, mostly in the rainy season, the season when you visited. However, our wonderful 24 hours Housekeeping are always ready to clean the villa at your convenience. Mr. El Ghali, Hanging Gardens of Bali is a truly unique resort. We have marvelous award-winning pool, breath-taking villas and heart-warming and wonderful 200 staffs which you had seconded in your review. But I have this feeling that you do not experience Hanging Gardens of Bali to its fullest. Should you have, I believe you would enjoy your visit as our others did. I would personally like to invite you again to stay at Hanging Gardens of Bali to see the wonders of our Hidden Gem and to experience our spa collection and other totally unique experiences you missed on your last stay. Sincerely,

Beautiful hotel, but very pricey for the quality, which will make me reconsider any future stays. Room service was a bit slow, despite hotel capacity at 20% at this time, it took multiple calls and reminders to have our room cleaned and linens changed. We also celebrated our honeymoon and while they provided some complimentary cake/bubbles and a flower bath, this was also somewhat delayed and required reminders (seemed to be some miscommunication among staff). Again, no major issues but given low capacity, we expected the service to be stellar. Everyone was warm and welcoming. Food was very good. Pools and views are stunning.

This was was one of the best venues we have ever had.The staff were amazing. The rooms were very nice with your own private splash pool. Each room was set up in a way where you had complete privacy. There was fresh fruit provided every day. This hotel is in the rainforest above a river valley. The location is quite far from Ubud so the hotel will supply shuttle service to town daily. This is a great wedding, honeymoon or anniversary venue where you can relax and enjoy the solitude or enjoy the amazing pool and be entertained by some visiting monkeys.
We would recommend the cooking class in the adjacent temple which was something that you would not normally have the chance to do.
The only thing that they could have done better would be a later shuttle service return from Ubud.
We will definitely return

TRAVELERS BEWARE- this hotel has been an absolute nightmare. We tried to reschedule our honeymoon to Bali three times due to Covid and ultimately decided to cancel given the global climate. All hotels we had booked, refundable or not on paper, worked with us to give us refunds given the scenario. Americans have not been able to enter Indonesia for months as it's listed as a Level 4: Do Not Travel country.

Hanging Gardens has been absolutely miserable - I’ve been on an email thread for 5+ months where one employee made us get on a Skype to plead our case, said yes, then after multiple email follow ups was responded to be a new individual saying they will not provide a refund.

Given how understanding other hotels and airlines have been to the global Covid scenario, this has been so disappointing. I would NOT support this business nor would I risk booking here, especially if American given current global travel restrictions and unknown climate. You will NOT speak to someone directly if you have any travel issues and they will NOT be accommodating to any financial circumstances as all other hotels in Bali have been to us- stay somewhere else.

This hotel is indeed located in an idyllic location, but we don’t think it’s value for money, our booking included afternoon tea, but when we got there we were offered mocktails between 5pm & 6pm, when we went we were only allowed 1 mocktail each during that timeslot. We questioned what had happened to our afternoon tea & were told we were ‘upgraded’ to mocktails, so we tried afternoon tea on another day, and that was was equally as disappointing, nice teapot, but served with 4 savoury biscuits! Also wine very expensive & on both occasions we had a bottle of white wine we had to inform staff that it was warm, we also got locked out on our terrace, as lock was faulty, after alerting staff we still had to wait around 1/2 an hour for someone to come to help us, by then my husband had managed to get us back in our room!! If u are a light sleeper take earplugs as the frogs come out at night & are very noisy & a couple of them made it into our room, which was a little distressing, we were in Villa 80. I was also surprised that the bag you have for use is for sale, as many other cheaper hotels give u a beach bag as a gift. Also tap’s on sink a bit dodgy as one came off in my hand on the first day, and were a little temperamental in switching on & off! To be honest this was supposed to be the highlight of our trip, but to be honest it was our least favourite.

Dear Wendy, First of all, it was a pleasure to host you in our magical jungle resort. We would like to thank you for your honest feedback and apologize that you didn't get the afternoon tea that you were expecting in the first place, it apparently was a miscommunication amongst our team and we deeply regret it. If you are still in Bali (or for your next visit), please contact me and I will happily make it up and provide you with a truly memorable experience. Regarding the nuisance caused by the frogs, being located in the heart of the Balinese jungle, we continually "chase" these little creatures as during these rainy days they are sometimes present around the villas. Please do contact me on gm@hanginggardensofbali.com to discuss opportunities to turn around your recent experience with us. I am looking forward to hearing from you. I CANNOT fault my stay at Hanging Gardens. From the grounds, to the food, the spa and the wonderful friendly staff. It was absolute perfection. We were treated like VIPs the whole time of our stay which was 6 nights, I think the perfect time to decompress after a stressful few months of work. The hotel offer 3 daily shuttles into Ubud town which is around 30 mins away from the resort, which becomes the perfect sanctuary that you don’t want to leave. The food was far more impressive than we were anticipating from a hotel in such a remote location. The spa is situated above a rushing river which gives the perfect soundtrack to the glorious massage experience. We are already counting down to next year when we plan to return for another stay at Hanging Gardens.

Excellent 4 nights stay at this splendid 5 star hotel that offers a great deal of jungle experience which turned out to be more than we expected. The massive villa has everything you need, especially private infinity swimming pool over and above two other infinity swimming pools. One can easily relax in the privacy of your big outside area by the pool that has sun loungers, a mini fridge, tea and coffee making facility along with a fully furnished pergola. The jungle view from any part of the hotel is stunning. The trees and bushes are regularly trimmed which makes the entire place very clean and appealing.
The continental breakfast has a lot of selection plus local tropical fruits and juices. Lunch and dinner has wide selection of different dishes.
All the staff were very friendly, polite and helpful that goes with the local people as well.
