From the moment we arrived at the wooded hilltop retreat at Mikumi Safari Lodge, we were welcomed and treated like family. Daniel, the manager, had already helped me out via WhatsApp with changing our dates and arranging for transport to the lodge, as well as advising on activities and safaris, while Amani and Mgangaa were the most attentive and engaging co-hosts. Mgangaa accompanied us on two hikes, one to his relatives’ Masai village down the hill, and one along the hilltop ridge for the views and animal sightings. And the food at the lodge was delightful and varied, served in the lovely covered terrace where we often hung out learning more about Tanzanian life from our new friends. The cabins are roomy and immaculate, each with an outside deck, and their own bathroom. There is hot water all the time, solar powered electricity (supplemented with a generator) and absolutely everything works and is well maintained. Daniel proceeded to help us out with several transportation issues even after we left. This was a very memorable stay for us and we will be back!…

We spent 2 nights with my husband while we were on a 3 day safari tour. Everybody was extremely kind, the food was so delicious and fresh, the room was authentic and big, evetything was super. The Mikumi Safari Lodge is about 30 minutes from the main road, but it is ansolutely worth it, because you can spend the night in the nature woth peace and far away from the noisy main road. And… we saw many animals on the road too!!! Antilops, baboons, giraffe, warthog family.

Lovely people. Really genuine and they are nice to the local cats as well which is always a good sign. The accommodation was huge and the bed very comfortable. The internet worked as well which was a relief. It is in a remote area which is part of the adventure and why one goes on safari. Considering how remote it is I was very pleased to have good food and all utilities working fine. Spotting the owl at night was a little highlight for me. Couple of days here was perfect and the safari in Mikumi was excellent. Saw so many animals including the leopard and the guide Jonathan was super kind and had great eyes for spotting things

We were wanting to travel from DAR to Ruaha and the package from Ruaha Hilltop Lodge, part of the same family, provided a six day package involving a visit to Mikumi NP and three nights in Mikumi Safari Lodge and two in Ruaha Hilltop Lodge. The road up the hill was a bit rough after rain but it was taken in its stride. A great welcome, after midnight (we had been delayed but not their fault) and to our comfortable Banda. Nicely furnished set in forest but no bugs. Lots of birds. Well finished and comfortable. Everything worked as it should. Power and water. The Bandas were well separated for privacy in the woods with paved paths that were lit at night. Breakfasts and main meals were very well done. Staff went to the limit to be helpful and friendly. Daniel was a star manager. OK so the drive down for excursions took about 30 minutes to the tar but it was part of the fun and there were animals and birds to see. All in all we were quite surprised by this little Gem and hope to return again some time.…

even though the way to the lodge is not very pleasant , very bumpy , the lodge itself was so cute. The rooms were very clean. Obviously being an eco friendly , it made the experience better. The bathroom was made out if wood and the food at the restaurant was nice too

My wife and I had a very pleasant stay at Mikumi Safari Lodge. The huts are big and clean. Even though it's remote, there is hot water, electricity and good wifi connection at the restaurant. The best thing was the hospitality of the staff. They always had a smile for us and helped us with any issue that occurred. As we enjoyed the food at the restaurant a lot, they even sent us the recipe of their delicious Beef Makange. One thing you need to know: The way to the lodge is a very rough gravel road and I would recommend a good 4x4 or a taxi service (which the lodge organizes for you). If you drive on your own, make sure to follow the signs on the road. Following them, we had no problem to find the way.
