We had a wonderful 2 days stay at Vuma Hills. The staff was so nice and the food delicious! The location of the tents/site is great and it is such an experience sleeping in the nice tents while hearing the wildlife outside.
This camp is tucked away in Mikumi Natl Park in a great location. My tent was high on a platform with a thatched roof overlooking the forest. Inside was an artistic living space with a comfortable bed and a lovely ensuite bathroom. I had heard bush babies before but never seen one till this camp where they come out after dark. Elephants are also known to wander through camp. The food and staff were excellent. They did a fun celebration for a guest's birthday. I was injured the night of my arrival. They took very very good care of me.
I spent two nights at the camp during my recent trip to Mikumi and Ruaha National Parks, and enjoyed ever minute. Excellent location inside the park on top of the hill gives you magnificent views both from the main deck, and from your own balcony. The tents are well designed using natural materials only, comfortable and fit well with the location and the vibe of the place. I really enjoyed being out there in nature, being removed from all the worries of the world and just savouring every moment. It is very convenient for daily game drives in the park, as you do not need to lose the time on the road each day to reach the gate. Best of all is the warm hospitality and friendly and professional service - it really makes this place special. And a couple of quite curios bushbabies which come out at dinner time too ( never seen a bushbaby before, by the way). Thank you everyone at Vuma Hills Camp, I wish I could stay longer. I stayed at Vuma Hills during my recent weekend trip to Mikumi National Park. Vuma Hills has a magnificent view, overlooking the national park. We were received warmly by a team of delightful and accommodating staff who made sure we were comfortable during our stay there. Meals were fresh and flavorful, including the home-baked bread! The tent is very clean and comfortable, and the view from the balcony was exquisite! Our guide (Edward) and the driver (Andrew) ensured that we saw everything we possibly could see during our short stay at the park: colors of the sky at sunset and sunrise, and diversity of landscape, animals and birds. I hope to revisit the park and will definitely stay at Vuma Hills again.
Because of an auto accident on our way to Mikumi National Park, we arrived about four hours later than expected. But the staff had saved us a delicious and abundant lunch and served it graciously. They also packed us a huge breakfast to take on our morning game drive and served us another lovely lunch before our second game drive. The guide for the game drives was very knowledgeable and accomodating as well, adjusting the timing of our outings due to our late arrival. There is an excellent view from the restaurant as well as from the tent balcony. The tents are spacious and well appointed.with appropriate furnishings. Note that the generator doesn't run after 10:30 PM so plan accordingly! All in all, the excellent service, the unique accomodations and above all, the wildlife viewing made for a totally unforgettable experience at Vuma Hills.…
My wife & I stayed here in 12/18, what an amazing experience! We were the only guests. You might think that is a bad thing, but we were treated like a king and queen. Got the tent where at night elephants come right up to the tented cabin (on a hill), so they are on the first floor. They woke us up in the middle of the night with their sheer sound, it was amazing to experience. Excellent food. Ate dinner one night as a rainstorm overtook (part) Mikumi Nat. Forest, watched from high in the hills. Highly recommend this place for this park.
Mikumi National Park and Vuma Hills was our first safari experience after living in Dar es Salaam for nearly a year. After spending the last few months in self-isolation, we really needed the break but also didn't want to take any unnecessary risk, so we chose locations that we thought would allow us to follow protocols as much as possible, even if no one else was! Vuma Hills was beautiful. The safari tent was comfortable for our family of 4 travelers and beautifully, tastefully appointed. The tents are a little bit close together, so although we were only one of 2 families for one of the nights that we stayed, we could hear the family in the neighboring tent quite clearly, so probably something to consider if it was completely full! That said, you are surrounded by nature and have a beautiful balcony that overlooks the forest canopy. It was peaceful and restful. The restaurant staff took some precautions with masks and distancing, but it was not as regimented as some of the other places that we stayed. Staff were friendly and accommodating and food was delicious. While we had a guide for one day, we did a bit of self-driving as well and it was really extraordinary. We saw so many animals. Because a main thoroughfare cuts through the park (for better or worse) we even saw elephants, giraffes, zebras and lions (among other things) just there on the main road! It was truly spectacular. It was a special first experience. …
Lovely tented camp with big tents. Every tent has it own bathroom. Very good food, handled those of us with foodallergy in an excelent way👍 Nice, good food. Love to go back. They also have a small swimmingpool as well.
We spent one night at Vuma Hills with a short Safari in Mikumi Park as we traveled from Ruaha to Selous. We drove from the northern parks to the southern parks (switching guides,) so I can not comment on the camp’s guides or vehicles since we had our own. Having had a wonderful experience at Ruaha River Lodge, we were looking forward to visiting Vuma Hills. We were not disappointed! The camp is in a wooded area, on a slope looking toward the park. Once again, large well appointed tents with great en-suite bathrooms, writing desk and three beds in our tent. The queen bed was very comfortable, but the singles were a bit too firm for me. Lots of storage and hanging areas for your clothes, and probably the most lights of any camp we visited. However, electricity is limited to certain times. No WiFi, but we knew that before we booked. The shower here was probably the best of the three Fox camps during our visit. The tent has a nice porch- too bad we didn’t have more time to enjoy it. There was a pool area below the restaurant. The lounge/ restaurant area has seating at the bar around a fire pit and on the deck looking out toward the park. We had one dinner and breakfast at the camp, both excellent. And once again, friendly helpful staff. We were hoping to see genets and Bush babies at the camp, having read previous reviews, but unfortunately we did not see either. However, the bush babies were around. We heard them frequently during the night. (I probably could have seen them had I gotten out of bed.) A short visit, but a great experience. Next stop, Rufiji River Camp at Selous Game Reserve.…
My wife, daughter and I stayed at Vuma for a three night safari experience. We were treated like royalty. The service, from management, restaurant staff and safari guides, was stellar-very accommodating, warm, friendly and knowledgeable; food was absolutely wonderful, rooms very clean, well appointed and comfortable. Our time there was the highlight of a lifetime.
