#10 of 14 hotels in Astoria
Originally opened as the Red Lion–Thunderbird Motor Inn and later simply as the Red Lion, the Astoria Riverwalk Inn was the town’s first waterfront hotel, established in the late 1960s. The Port of Astoria owns the facility, and contracted with new ownership to assume and improve the Riverwalk Inn operations. Literally everything is new at the Astoria Riverwalk Inn. From the luxurious cotton sheets, redesigned dining area and lobby adorned with local, the addition of a continental breakfast; extensive landscaping and general updates throughout (including lots of fresh paint!), guests will gain a sense of renewed care and attention to detail. Other complimentary amenities include a business center just off the lobby, upgraded high-speed Wi-Fi, a DVD library and “Beach Cruiser” bikes for exploring Astoria’s four-mile long Riverwalk. We think you’ll find changes to the Astoria Riverwalk Inn create an inviting atmosphere for a restful stay on the waterfront. We hope to see you soon!

I’ve been looking at all these cool photos of beautifully decorated rooms. This was not at all our experience! Our room barely had any decor at all. Definitely did not look like one of these cool, remodeled rooms. We got a family room. It had two queens and a bunk bed. Good idea in theory. But the bunk bed was so squeaky that our kids couldn’t sleep on it without waking all of us up. We ended up moving our kids from the bunks to the other queen bed in the middle of the night. That’s not even the worst part! Our room was so filthy. We should’ve walked right out of there, but it was late and we needed a place for our kids to rest. The decor was old and dirty. The carpet was gross. The cleaning staff obviously doesn’t do a very thorough job between customers. There was a dirty diaper in a bag on the balcony. There was an old, rusty razor blade in the bathroom closet. Good thing I found that before my toddler did! There was also a cheese stick (from the continental breakfast) on the floor near our bed. I just was not impressed at all. We definitely don’t usually spend $200+ on a dirty room. Best part of the room was the view of the marina, river, and bridge. We were able to use our balcony for a bit after we removed the poopy diaper. Hotel staff were not the least bit bothered by our concerns about the cleanliness of the room. In summation, don’t go here expecting one of these super cool, clean-looking rooms with new bedding and clean carpets. Maybe just stay somewhere else.

Stayed for one night. Easy check-in and check out. Room was on the second floor with a awesome view of the Astoria bridge. Floor was clean where vacuum could reach (found some old nail clippings between the bed and nightstand) , beds were just right, supplied with 4 pillows, fridge was clean and did not smell. Bathroom was clean and in good condition. Staff was awesome. I had realized I left my necklace on the bathroom counter after I got home. Gave them a call and front desk said they had found it. It took a few days, but I received it via UPS. I would absolutely stay here again next time I am in town. It is nice to know that you can count on the staff to do the right thing if you happen to forget something!

As a TripAdvisor level 40 hotel reviewer I would say that there are few hotels in the USA and Europe that beat this view. You have a balcony with a gorgeous view of the marina, bridge, and river. You are on the riverwalk so a 20 minute walk towards town leads you pass some nice restaurants. The trolley runs by the hotel into town during day hours. Internet is very fast except for peak periods. Bed was comfortable, room was very nice. We plan to come back and stay again. It is easier to stay here and then drive to Canon Beach and other near by beaches. Peak nice (less gray) weather is mid July to the end of August.

This is a great little inn and a wonderful location! We had unexpected car trouble during our trip and they were so wonderful to book us an extra night and store our bags, etc. It's also so great that they have hotel bikes that you can use to get around the city! Great stay!

Generally I save my reviews for positive ones, feeling most properties get enough negative reviews without my help, but in this case, I'll make an exception. The room was okay, typical for an older, coastal town. The door was hanging off its hinges, not repaired even though I told the front desk about it. Perhaps by the time the next person arrived it was, who knows? My main problem was about my request, made more than a month before our arrival. Two friends and I were having a girls' trip and requested at the time of booking that our rooms be near each other. Sure, no problem we were assured. We were SO excited about that. We arrived early and are told that to check in then, our rooms would have to be far apart. Okay, we get that, so leave and come back well after check-in time. Still our rooms are far apart. Apparently, several people asked to stay another night and their request, placed that day, was more important than the one we'd put in more than a month earlier. Oookay again. Next morning, we try again. Nope, even though we were willing to shift rooms, everything's booked and although no one's actually arrived yet, the rooms can't be changed and we're stuck with rooms far apart. So disappointing when combined, we were paying over $700 a night to this hotel. We most definitely won't be going back, hopefully our next trip we'll find a hotel more willing to actually listen to our request and work to fulfill it.
