Very dingy. Small blob of toothpaste in sink. Toilet paper stashed on top of toilet instead of in fixture, which was missing the roller bar. Bathmat looked like an old rag. Towels were few and damp. No cups nor amenities except soap. No coffeemaker. Sheets seemed clean but no blanket

For $72 all included (taxes & Breakfeast) for a clean room in peak period, that's a great deal...

Ok the room looks old (60s furnitures) but this a great alternatives to all the nearby lodgings at $100+ for summer...

Breakfast: coffee, donuts, tropicana, muffins, ...

Other +: pool, cable, and location: just a few yards from FDR Library and a few minutes from the Culinary Institute...

When first looking up hotels in the area, I thought I had found a nice, quaint hotel. Upon calling the hotel for pricing, I was met with a rude woman on the phone who was very impatient. After telling me the price, she told me to call when I was ready and promptly hung up the phone. I had to call back to reserve the room and she failed to give me a confirmation number of any kind. She said to simply ask for her name, "Trudy." When my girlfriend and I arrived at the hotel and asked for our reservation, she was clearly taken aback at having two women sharing a room. She proceeded to ask whether I reserved two rooms. When I told her no, she said "2 women, 1 room?" I had reserved a queen but she said she would give us two doubles after asking if we were "just friends." I said a queen was desired. Upon entering the room, we discovered that she had in fact given us the room with two double beds. Furthermore, the room was not particularly clean. Random hairs were on the towels and bed sheets. The towels also had stains on them. Although I went here for a good deal, I did not expect the ignorant and bigoted remarks made by the owner. I will not be making a return visit.

I stayed at the Golden Manor 3 weeks ago when I came to Poughkeepsie to be with my mom for her last days alive. On the morning of her death my sister and I had to leave the hotel very early to go to the nursing home where she had passed in the night. Upon our return to the hotel to take showers we found we had been LOCKED OUT of our room because we did not pay IN CASH AHEAD OF TIME FOR THE 6 DAYS we planned to be there!!!!!!! I have NEVER had to pay in advance for a hotel stay!!! Needless to say my sister and I checked out immediately after we were told that they didn't care if our mother died or not that morning but that they just wanted their cash up front. In addition, the rooms are very musty smelling and the microwave we were told our room had did not even exist! "Breakfast included" meant a box of doughnuts from the local supermarket opened up in the front lobby. Please do not patronize this place --the Quality Inn up the street is far superior.

After being stereotyped as a party hard college kid who would only trash the room I was able to negotiate a single room with two beds for 75 bucks before taxes during the off peak season. While enjoying a cigarette in my new costly -- hole I witnessed a roach walking on the bar of soap in the bathroom . I grabbed a piece of garbage and scooped the demon insect towards the toilet. I grabbed my belongings and walked out. I told the lady that I would not pay 80 plus dollars to sleep with roaches and demanded a refund. She refused. I told her I was unhappy with her service and business practices but she still declined. I'm 80 bucks in the hole but roach free tonight where I lay my head. This is my honest review, no haste, resentment, anger or spite. Just an honest man looking out for others. Good luck.

We stayed here to be close to some of the National Park sites. It's very conveniently located, across the street from the FDR home. On July 4th weekend, we paid $75 for our room, and it was the best deal of the trip. The motel is a big 'C' facing away from the road, with little side wings pointing toward it. Parking was pretty tight since they were so full. Sadly, the excellent neon sign has been recently replaced by a cheap and tacky plastic sign, which did sort of hurt the retro vibe.

I originally thought the owners were a bit crusty, but when I came back to fill the ice bucket, they were very friendly and had good tips on food in the area. Our room was next to the office, and was pretty large. It was worn, but clean. The furnishings were dated, but that was just part of the fun, as was our beautiful pink tile bathroom. We really enjoyed the pool, which was pretty large for this sort of place. Despite the brutal heat, we were almost alone using it. The bed was comfortable, and although it was not the quietest night we've ever spent (motel full, road traffic), we slept well. I might try one of the other old motels next time to satisfy my curiosity, but I would be very happy to end up here again.

This is a nice, clean, basic motel. There is plenty of hot water for showers. If you appreciate basic travel comfort, at a reasonable prince, stay here. It isn't fancy by today's standards, but the coffee, juice and muffins where enough to start our day. We have stayed here 3 times on our travels to the Hyde Park area. There is a great brewery within walking distance ( 200 feet) and walking trails on national park land just out the door. The owners are very interesting people, if you take a moment to get to know them.

My wife and I spent the weeked with our 4 children (12 year old boy, 5 year old twin boys & 3 year old daughter) at the Golden Manor in Hyde Park, even though we live relatively nearby as a sort of mini-vacation, while visiting local sites. The motel location is good right on Route 9 (Main St Hyde Park and Rhinebeck) and our room was just "ok" it had plenty of room with 3 double beds, but they were all rock hard, the ceiling tiles were droopy and stained, the carpet was stained, the airconditioning was a through the wall unit poorly fit and the bathroom was really small and dated with peeling paint, some mold, stained tub, etc. One of the main reasons we booked the motel was to be able to use the pool, but after check-in I was advised "it closed a few days ago" ? ! The owners were very nice to me and my family but I did see first hand one of them being rude to another guest who requested and offered to pay for an extra hour (12 vs 11am checkout). Breakfast is included and consisted of coffee, juice, rolls, store bought donuts & danish (Entemanns). For perspective we paid $95 fof the 3 double bed room with breakfast, so in the end, it was a good value. Just have realistic expectations. If you want a really nice modern room with indoor pool and other hotel amenities including a killer breakfast for about $110-130/night, stay a few miles south at the Hampton Inn on Route 9 in Poughkeepsie, this is by far the nicest hotel in the area.

We spent two nights at the Golden Manor Hotel in Hyde Park, NY. We had an efficient check in and were given a room at the very back of the place. The walls are paneled and the window treatments do not match either the carpet or the bedspreads.
However, the place was really clean. The sheets were pressed and looked crisp. Actually they were the best sheets we had on our trip through New York State. The mattress was not up to date, but it was OK. The carpet had a few stains but it was not old. The lighting was florescent bulbs over the beds and the various stands and tables. The room was a pretty good size.
Soap and shampoo in a packet were in the bathroom. The towels were thin.
The breakfast was donuts, coffee and orange juice. Half and half cream was there for the coffee.
There are six hotels in Hyde Park. It's a mystery to me why there aren't more chain hotels there. It's a place where you can easily stay for three or four days and still not see all the things in the area. There are a lot of great restaurants near this area.
We paid $55.00 a night with a Seniors Rate.

well, I never got to stay at this hotel because I was told that 'my kind of people' were not welcome. 'My kind of people' being somebody who asked to see a room before actually renting it. The lobby was so disgustingly dirty that we wanted to make sure the rooms were nothing like it.
I have never in my life been treated so rudely by anybody.
The experience made for a very funny story; however it really was not all that funny! It was an unbelievable experience in the service industry - don't ruin your vacation by encountering the rudest people I have ever met.
Hyde Park is beautiful! There is a Holiday Exress a few miles up the road and the service staff could not be any friendlier!

"Advise the owners as for the reason of your stay......we let them know that we were there to visit The CIA prior to my son's admission, so they placed us in a quiet room. There had been several folks there for The Dutchess County Fair that they knew would be coming in late. They placed us away from these folks so that we could get some rest."
