Detailed Reviews
We were visiting friends at their country house on a Sunday afternoon and we decided to stay overnight at a B&B and make it a mini-vacation. We chose Journey Inn, which is located right across from the Vanderbilt mansion and grounds, because it was closest to attractions that are open during Covid, and we could not have made a better selection. We stayed in the Tuscany Room, which in addition to posters and photographs of Tuscan towns, also had a couple of lovely books on the subject on night tables. The walk-in shower had a strong, hot spray, and the sample bottles of L’Occitane shampoo, conditioner, hand soap, and body lotion were very welcome. Plenty of light allowed us to see that everything was spotlessly clean. There were plenty of tissues and towels. Breakfast was served in a light-filled room that also boasts shelves of books and comfortable chairs for sitting. Valerie, the innkeeper, served fresh fruit with yogurt, as well as a breakfast quiche and a delicious muffin. I can’t recommend this place highly enough.

The delight was all ours! Thank you so much for taking the time to let us and others know how much you enjoyed your stay. Sorry you were not able to stay longer, but we are so pleased you found our Inn a delight. We are lucky to have such a great location for visiting the entire Hudson Valley. And so many things to see and do within 10 minutes of the Inn. We are so glad we can be a respite during COVID. We work very hard on our cleaning protocol and maintaining a socially distanced breakfast. We do look forward to your return when more places will be open! Thank you.

My wife & I have traveled extensively and have stayed at great hotels and B&B's. Our recent stay at Journey Inn Bed & Breakfast was outstanding in every way. The grounds are lovely, our room was spacious and extremely comfortable and the breakfasts were superb, Also, the location could not be better for anyone interested in seeing the best sights in or near Hyde Park, or for eating at the best restaurants in the area, What put Journey Inn over the top as the best B&B at which we have ever stayed however, was the warmth, hospitality & helpfulness of the owners/innkeepers. Speaking with them every morning was definitely part of the fantastic vacation we had in the Hudson Valley.

+1
Valerie and Eric, the owners of Journey Inn, and our wonderful hosts could not have been more gracious and welcoming. They are natural hosts, with a gift for putting strangers at ease. My fiancé had never stayed at a bed and breakfast before staying at the Journey Inn, and he absolutely loved every minute of it. We already have booked our room for this coming October. They do fill up fast for the fall leaf peeping months, so if you are thinking of going, I would recommend booking well in advance. We are already looking forward to Valerie’s scrumptious breakfasts. Thank you again, Valerie and Eric for having us, and we can’t wait for our return visit.

We really look forward to seeing you and Michael and do hope I can remember what you had for breakfast, so that I can do something different and memorable. See you soon!!

Part of our extensive driving tour of southern New York state included the Hyde Park area north of Poughkeepsie. Ann and I figured that we needed three nights there to do justice to all of the Roosevelt and Vanderbilt memorials while also enjoying the Culinary Institute of America. Journey Inn Bed & Breakfast at One Sherwood Place in Hyde Park was perfectly located, allowing us to do most of our exploration with minimal driving. It is also a very comfortable and enjoyable place. Innkeepers Valerie and Eric with the help of Kim provided superb, tasty breakfasts and enjoyable conversation. While Ann had made our CIA reservation before we started our trip, Valerie strongly recommended two restaurants in Rhinebeck and we would happily return to both. She and Eric have extensive knowledge, both historical and current, of the area and very helpfully shared it with us.

Thank you Eric and Ann. We did enjoy having you at the Inn. Your enthusiasm was infectious. It is fun for us to experience the wonderful Hudson Valley through your eyes. Glad we were able to help you find restaurants and see as much as you could see in 3 days. Our location makes it easy - but also you gave yourself the time to do the area justice. We would love to have you back so you can see the rest of the area!!

A short trip upstate was made so enjoyable by Valerie and Eric, the Owners of the Journey Inn. Their home is so cozy and they made you feel so at home. They were both so helpful on things to do in the area and the Breakfasts were wonderful each morning. I would highly recommend staying here. The location is near many historic places on the East side of the Hudson but also a short trip to the Western side of the Hudson and the Moutains.

Thank you so much! We are so happy that we can remain open during COVID and give our guests the escape they need during this time. There is still so much to do up here in the Hudson Valley and all so close to the Inn. Amazing estates and their grounds, views, trails! Plus so many wonderful restaurants to dine outside or inside. We hope you can return and we were so pleased to serve you!

Our next trip to Hyde Park will include staying at Journey Inn. The hosts Valerie and Eric have created a welcoming place. The hot breakfasts were individually prepared to our preferences. The house has a large dining room, two large rooms to sit and relax and well appointed bedrooms. We stayed in the Kyoto room which had a private bathroom across the hall which opened with a key. At firstI was concerned about the private bathroom. My concern was not necessary. It was a large full bathroom with a lot of counter space for our toiletries.
We had an unexpected heavy snow which canceled our plans. Instead we took advantage of a restful day in the house. We enjoyed the opportunity of meeting the other guests.
There is a small dog . He was playful but he did not disturb us.
Go and enjoy your stay at Journey Inn.

So glad that despite the snow, and all the closures, we were able to make your stay restful and happy. We are pleased that we were able to accommodate your dietary restrictions at breakfast, and that you enjoyed our Kyoto room. There are some concerns from guests that the PRIVATE bath is across the hall, but I tell everyone that it is the best deal at the Inn - the bath is large and very private. Our dog Buddy is a small bundle of love - and he likes to say hi to the guests, but is a lovely non-shedding sweetheart. So glad he was not a disturbance. We look forward to your next trip!! Thank you.

The Journey Inn is a great B&B in Hyde Park. The Innkeepers do a fantastic job of making you feel at home. The location is fantastic; only a short drive (5-10 min) to the historical and cultural venues (Vanderbilt Estate, FDR, CIA). The rooms are clean, cozy and the breakfasts are a real treat. The Inn is a great place to meet and talk with fellow guests at breakfast and after touring and nightly dining. This was our first time visiting Hyde Park and we look forward to staying at the Inn for our next visit.

Our location is perfect for seeing the area and we were so glad you got to enjoy it all before we entered the COVID-lockdown! When all of this is over, we very much look forward to seeing you again - and sharing our stories. You were the last guests before the lockdown - and we so appreciate your stay with us! Stay safe. The Journey Inn is located right on route 9, directly across the street from the Vanderbilt Mansion and convenient to many other sites in the Mid-Hudson River Valley.
We spent one night in the Kyoto room. The room was comfortable and cozy. The bathroom for this particular room is just across the hall. It’s only a minor inconvenience and it’s totally exclusive for the Kyoto room occupants, complete with your own key. Bathrobes are provided for the few seconds you’re in the hall. The upside is that it’s probably a more spacious bathroom than the ones that are en suite—it’s quite lovely.
The innkeepers are very friendly and helpful. We expressed a preference for a plant-based breakfast and they accommodated us with oatmeal, coconut milk yogurt and delicious vegan banana bread.
We thought the rate for the room quite reasonable and overall an excellent value. If you’re interested in a warm and friendly setting where it’s easy to relax, this is it.

Thank you so much. We are so happy you enjoyed your stay. We think that the Kyoto room is the best deal at the Inn - yes, the private bath is across the hall, but it is large and right across the hall. We enjoy making vegan breakfasts. It is fun for us to be creative with special request breakfasts. We make a mean tofu scramble too! We do hope to offer warmth and relaxation. So glad we met that goal. Thank you.

We recently stayed at the Journey Inn Bed & Breakfast.
After a seven month delayed trip from March 2020.
The hosts could not have been more accommodating and helpful during our stay.
The room was comfortable, well appointed and as nice as advertised.
The Inn is close to the Vanderbilt estate and the Franklin Roosevelt estate parks.
The Inn was very quiet in the evening and the property is very nice and well taken care of.
The breakfasts were perfect for the day.
Understanding he difficulties with keeping the guests so erased and the increased attention to cleaning.
The owners and staff could not have been better hosts.
We would recommend as a great great away for couples.

So glad you where finally able to get here. COVID put so many plans on hold, but not on cancel. Thank you! We do work hard to make the Inn COVID-friendly. Our social distance breakfasts and our high quality cleaning protocols are designed to make our guests very comfortable during this time. There is still plenty to do here in the Hudson Valley during COVID and so much great dining. Thank you for your review and recommendation to others thinking about coming to the area.

Hosts were nice, hospitable and friendly, and the breakfasts were good. But the room we stayed in was in desperate need of updating, especially the bathroom, which was tiny and had an exceedingly low toilet. Also, all of the linens and the mattress need to be replaced.

Something breaks in us when we see this kind of feedback. We are in a constant state of replace, renew, repair as needed. We rotate and replace bedding, furniture, linens all the time. We do not try to be "current" in our style and painstakingly maintain our vintage mid-century design with an eclectic mix of styles and themed rooms. Not sure what you mean by "exceedingly low toilets", which we do not have. We are truly heartbroken that you did not enjoy your stay.
