(Please call for further description.) All accommodations include Wi-Fi, a continental breakfast in our coffee shop breakfast area with complimentary tea, coffee, hot chocolate and popcorn available 24 hours a day. Hotel's Favourite
Quiet, quaint, and comfortable.
The Roosevelt Inn, Hyde Park, NY, is a classic Ma and Pa motel: Well kept, well maintained, clean, comfortable, and relaxing.
I have three criteria for any lodging I stay at, be it an international resort or a quaint Ma and Pa property:
1. Was I physically safe on the property?
2. Was I physically comfortable on the property, and
3. Would a reasonable person conclude I got what I paid for (value). The Roosevelt Inn handsomely meets my three criteria. Motel staff welcomed me and were helpful. The motel dog wagged its tail too.
For safety, the Roosevelt Inn is nestled in the quiet and peaceful village of Hyde Park. I felt safe walking the sidewalks up and down the street in front of the Inn. The rooms at the Inn have external entrances with key locks and dead bolts. All in good condition. The spacious rooms are well maintained, including the bathrooms, which have well-fastened grab bars for the bath / shower combination. All appliances and fixtures were in excellent working condition. I stayed on the ground floor of the main two-story building. A smaller attached one-story annex has zero clearance entrances with no stairs.
I slept well. No road or client noise. Beds were not firm, but not mushy: somewhere in the middle. Fine comfortable pillows. Air conditioning / heater worked fine. Motel WiFi also worked. Bathroom was exceptionally clean with abundant hot water. Bathroom had tub and shower combination. My room had a Keurig coffee maker with supplied coffee containers.
Roosevelt serves continental breakfast in a delightful café setting attached to the motel. Loved that café setting.
For value, I concluded the price was reasonable given off season rates.
I highly recommend the Roosevelt Inn in Hyde Park. I will stay there again,

This motel is a family run gem of a motel. I have stayed here many times with my wife and we have never had a negative comment to make about our stay. All are stays were pre Covid but this resent stay shows the efforts the management has made to provide a safe experience. I have given a rating of excellent for our stay and anyone visiting the Hudson Valley should definitely consider staying here since it is a reasonably priced, very clean, comfortable, spacious, and charming place to stay. We have also stayed in the past in one of their Rustic rooms which are located in the one floor section of the motel. They are smaller rooms with natural woodwork but are also very well maintained and lower priced for someone looking for a cheaper night's stay.

I have stayed here twice thus far and have been very impressed. The website is easy to maneuver for reservations, guest service is friendly and attentive and the updated rooms are spotless, with both necessary and extra amenities. The property includes majestic trees and shrubbery and lots of flowers throughout. Almost like staying in a botanical garden. And, finally, the owners and staff are very serious about virus precautions. I expect to get to Hyde Park several times a year and this will be my residence each time.

Response from Manager Operations, General Manager at Roosevelt Inn

Thank you for your review; you should be a travel writer! You must have visited while our perennials were in full bloom. While we appreciate the accolades, we wish we were able to concentrate on our plantings and flowers this year. Due to the pandemic, we have prioritized all the COVID cleaning supplies over the plantings and grounds maintenance. However, in mid-September, we plan to spruce up a little with colorful mums here and there. Autumn is always so beautiful in the Hudson Valley and it wouldn't be Fall at the Roosevelt Inn without some mums. Thank you!

I can’t say enough good things about this place. Their covid protocols are impressive . Everything is immaculate. When you walk in your room it smells fresh and there is not a speck of dust anywhere. The prices are a fabulous value and the location is good. I would definitely stay here again and I recommend it to anyone who is concerned about effective covid protocols and cleanliness.

+1
This review was written during CV-19, in the summer of 2021: The Roosevelt Inn is easy to find (on the main route through town) and handily located for things. The room I had was clean and everything you would expect, including coffee facilities and a fridge. The shower head was a little odd, in that it gave off a powerful mist rather than a traditional spray, but the water was hot and controllable. They had ample information about CV-19 protocols, and took cleanliness and safety two notches above what I have seen other “bigger brand” hotels do recently. Breakfast was a simple affair, with bagels, a toaster, donuts, fruit, and coffee & tea. Very handy location for all kinds of things, including restaurants like the Italian place or the Brewery, as well as the drive-in movie theater.

On a return visit to the Hudson River Valley (having been in the area for 10 days in the Spring), we spent four days here during the Labor Day weekend.
The motel is a well-maintained, local facility; with a pleasant old-school ambiance. We chose a first floor unit (#4, since 2nd floor rooms require climbing stairs); which allowed us to park right outside our door, for convenient loading/unloading. Our room was very clean, comfortable and spacious. Though the whole complex has a retro feel; one still receives all the in-room amenities, one expects in today's travels.
The complimentary breakfast is provided in a charming little Cafe themed room, with indoor/outdoor seating. The offerings are basic, but fresh and continually replenished.
Ice and microwave access are available throughout the day.
The staff were all friendly, accommodating and responsive.
The location is ideal for easy driving to many of the Hudson River Valley's most iconic features/landmarks/structures.
If one is seeking clean, comfortable, and affordable accommodations while visiting the area; this establishment is a top contender.

We were passing through upstate New York for one night and decided to check out Hyde Park. I called the Roosevelt Inn fearing that they’d be closed because of COVID. To my delight they were open. I was told of all the precautions they had taken to insure guest safety and was extremely impressed. I knew that we would have a nice stay hearing everything they had thought of.
This is such a tough time for those who make the bulk of their revenue during the summer tourist season. With so much uncertainty the expected influx of tourists is hard to gauge. We so enjoyed our brief stay in this area. The room at The Roosevelt Inn was surprisingly modern and updated and the bed was very comfortable. Not what you might expect from your typical motel. The location is equally valuable since it puts you right in the middle of everything you want to do in the area.
I highly recommend.

Thank you for your review and comments; we always strive for safety and comfort but it is particularly important in these times. Also, it is kind of you to express your support of our inn and the tourism industry in general. It is a difficult time for everyone in our country and we (individuals and industry) are not alone in the struggle. Stay healthy and we hope to see you again soon!

This motel is like our second home since it is our go to place to stay when visiting our son in Staatsburg. The second floor king room is always very clean and very large with an extra sink in front of the bathroom. There are chairs on the balcony overlooking the property that are a nice resting spot after a long day in the Hudson Valley. The coffee shop is open all day and a recent addition is a patio area that was added through the back door of the coffee shop. It might seem like a small thing but it is nice to see this family run business still making upgrades to make a stay there more pleasant. A good idea would be to get take out from one of the many restaurants in the area and enjoy it on the patio. We will continue to stay here since it never disappoints.

NOT the typical roadside motel!! Stayed 3 nights at this delightful & convenient location....quiet, upgraded, friendly/helpful staff, spotlessly clean, comfortable, fridge & K-cup coffeemaker, extra sink, roomy. Bed was comfortable, bathroom spotless, no musty room smell/odor, free continental breakfast offering plenty of serve yourself options, great value. Be sure to enjoy at least 1 meal at the nearby diner for a retro experience.

I stayed here several times during my two years in Hyde Park. As a student, I had to vacate campus during breaks. Roosevelt Inn was always my first choice.
The Inn was always spotless, and the bed linens always pressed and the beds made perfectly.
The breakfast room takes one back in time. Breakfast offerings are thoughtful and displayed with care. The breakfast room itself was tidy and welcoming. Reminded me of a B&B in Europe.

No, it is not actually a restaurant, so there is no menu. It’s just a room that is designed like a diner. It’s all self-serve for breakfast items.
No, the Roosevelt Inn does not offer monthly nor weekly rates.
The Poughkeepsie Train Station serves both the commuter trains from NYC's Grand Central (MetroNorth, Hudson Line) and the Amtrak trains. The station is 6 miles south of the motel. Uber, Lift, or livery cabs will work.
Please note that although Hyde Park is a great midway point to many sights in the valley, the village of Hyde Park itself is spread apart with sights and services a mile or more apart from each other.
No. we do not accept pets.
5 minute ride. I am not sure about any type of public transportation. We drove our own car. Eleanor's Val-Kill is a little further maybe 10 minutes. We spent all day at the FDR estate/library, so make sure you give yourself enough time there. and... Don't forget to check out the walk over the Hudson.
