Neighbourhood
Upper East Side
Combining quiet residential neighbourhoods that have easy access to Central Park with world-famous cultural institutions, the Upper East Side is one of the most livable places in the city. Along beautiful Fifth Avenue, you’ll find Museum Mile, which houses many of the nation's most famous attractions in a single stretch, like The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Guggenheim Museum. Walk a few blocks into the neighbourhood, and you’ll come to Park Avenue, the poshest address in the city, lined with grand apartment buildings as far as the eye can see. Even if you can’t afford the luxury goods along Madison Avenue, it’s still a great spot to window shop an afternoon away.

This is in a great location on the UES. Close to museums, shopping, etc. Hotel is old but well kept up. Will need refreshing eventually, but rooms were clean, spacious and affordable. Good place if you are looking for upper east side.

The Hotel Wales is a small property on Madison Ave. It is a property that has been refurbished and could do with further work. All up though it is very pleasant. I certainly got a good deal of walking in as it was about 25 blocks to many parts of NYC although really close to

This is a nice hotel close to the Met. And the park. We found some food nearby. The room was roomy, characterful with views. The only issue was the overpriced breakfasts in the attached restaurant. Much better to shop around for breakfast.

Good Morning Kirkm, Thank you for the great comments and 4 out of 5 Star rating from your recent visit with us. We were so happy to read your feedback and we are glad you are sharing it with our future guests and we are doing the same with our hotel team. We were excited to see you enjoyed your stay with us here at the Hotel Wales and that you had one of our spacious suites with provided you plenty of room and great views of NYC. We were alos happy you loved our Upper East Side neighborhood so close to The Met and Central Park just one block away. I do apologize that you felt that Sarabeth's East was a bit higher priced then you expected and as you said, there are other alternatives in the immediate area with in a few blocks radius. We look forward to seeing you again next time you are in our area so please come back again soon. Thank you and Happy Holidays and have a wonderful 2019. Steven Kipnis General Manager

is there a cancellation fee?
None until one week before arrival and then a gradual increase if I remember. In any case it was a very accommodating arrangement

The room we had did not have a door, just a doorway between the living room and bedroom. They are two distinct and separate rooms, just no door to close. If you have someone sleeping on the sofa bed, there won’t be privacy.

We had a bathroom between our bedroom and living area with a door closing off each room.
