While the Millennium Downtown New York is lauded for its prime location, convenient for sightseeing and transportation, guests have called out several areas for improvement. The noise level can be problematic, with reports of elevator sounds and city clamor. Although some visitors enjoy the views and acknowledge renovated spaces, many feel the rooms and amenities are outdated and the hotel atmosphere could benefit from a refresh. Mixed opinions surface regarding cleanliness and service quality, with particular criticism aimed at unexpected fees that affect the perceived value of the stay.

I have been staying at the Millenium Downtown for the past 5 business trips and it's now my go to home-from-home. The location is perfect for subway access, proximity to WTC buildings, shops and places to eat and drink at all price points. Nearly all the floors have now been refurbished and have amazing views. Rooms are all a good size and well appointed. Bathrooms are spacious and brand new. The lobby bar is a comfortable, warmly lit spot to lounge at, and the simple room service breakfast is reasonably priced and has always been on time. Two of the front desk staff deserve a special mention - Mike and Petra have been exceptional. I had a tiny challenge during my last stay and they went over and above to help me resolve the issue. Service such as this is why you pay a little extra.

Forget the negative reviews, this hotel is fantastic! From the staff to the location, from the rooms to the grab and go breakfast. Oh, and the views are incredible! We had a view of the 9/11 memorial and the One World Trade, we actually slept with the curtains open because falling asleep looking at the views and waking up to them is just breathtaking.

I came with my 16 year old son and he was so sad to leave!
The lobby is beautiful and we had a warm welcome from the reception staff as we arrived. The beds are so comfy after a long day exploring and are cleaned and replenished each day. I have to mention the domestic staff are really lovely and friendly too.

The location is brilliant as you can access many parts of the city from the subway just outside and around the corner at the Fulton Street Subway Centre.
We had a grab and go breakfast, there's plenty to choose from and a great way to start your busy day. The guys behind the bar were really helpful.

The hotel do ask for a deposit when you arrive, I forgot about this so remember your credit card!

The concierge staff when leaving the hotel couldn't do enough for you, offering taxi's and there to give advice if you needed help planning your day.
We asked one guy in particular about the flag on the wall in the hotel, he went on to tell us the story behind it and his story was very personal. What a lovely guy and God Bless You.

If we were to ever visit New York again, I would 100% be booking this hotel! Thank you so much!

I was trying to be very optimistic about this hotel after reading the reviews, but unfortunately I was disappointed. Upon getting off the elevator I noticed the rug was very worn. Upon entering the room the rug was dirty and the lamp shade had stains all over it. The wall above the sofa had dust all over it. The hallway to the room had a rug that was stained and lose. The bathroom door had what looked like blood, as well as on the wall in the bathroom and on the shower curtain. The bathroom was somewhat clean but the corners had not been cleaned in a while. The towels were a bit on the thin side.

The bedroom had corner windows and the view was really beautiful, we had one very windy day and the noise from the window creaking was a little scary. There was only one lamp on the bedside and there was a small clock that was not plugged in. The bed had fresh linens but you could actually feel the springs and the pillows were on the thin side and flattened quickly.

The pullout bed in the living room was smaller than a twin bed - not sure who actually thought two people could fit on that bed. The mattress was so thin that we took the comforter off the bed and put it on top of the bed. There were no pillows or blankets for the pullout so I picked up the phone to call housekeeping, but there was no dial tone. My husband picked up the phone as there were no numbers to call for any service and there was no phone cord connecting it to the wall! The phone was literally a prop! There was a QR code to reach housekeeping so I was able to text our request for more towels (heatwave meant multiple showers) pillows and comforter to add to the pullout. They said they had no extra comforters so they gave us some blankets to use but that did little to improve the comfort on the pullout bed.

Front desk staff were pleasant as were the bellhop but that just doesn’t make up for the room.

There’s plenty to eat and do around the hotel, with multiple train stations extremely close by.

I stayed here for the convenience of having the Path train across the street, I think for future NYC trips we will stay up in midtown.

mrsr1n1, The feedback is appreciated, and it’s unfortunate that your stay did not meet expectations. It’s good to know you found the team members pleasant and enjoyed the convenient location. The specific issues mentioned, from room maintenance to bedding comfort, will be reviewed to see how improvements can be made. The beautiful view from the bedroom window seems like it was a highlight of your stay, which is nice to hear. Hopefully, you will consider giving the hotel another chance during a future visit to New York. Best regards.

The hotel itself was in an amazing location, and the room we stayed in had an excellent view.
The reception staff were very helpful and in fairness, we had an excellent stay.
The luggage man at reception was very helpful and always had a smile on his face.

However we have had several issues with this hotel.

We arrived at 1pm and was asked to come back at 4pm to check in.
After a walk, we returned at 4pm and checked in, however was told our room was not ready and to wait at the bar.
The bar was full of customers waiting to get there room and at around 5pm we eventually got a room number.
The receptionist had told me "I hate having to rush our cleaning team".
I totally understand that with such a vast hotel, there maybe times in which delays may occur and it didn't really matter too much to us at the time.
However, on returning and contacting the hotel to ask for our deposit back we were told we had damaged a chair in our room with a stain.

We never used the chair and had nothing in the room which could cause such a stain.
I am concerned that this was missed before we arrived due to the cleaners "rushing".
On arrival we were told that a 600 dollar hold would be put on my bank account to cover any bar or room charges that may occur during our stay. Reluctantly we agreed to this and was told on departure that the money would be back to us within 4 days. After 15 days and an email and several calls we were told that we wouldn't be getting our money back and the chair needed replacing and the cost was 401 dollars.
I have asked for a photo of the chair before we arrived with the date and time included and also a photo with date and time of the apparently damaged chair.

We feel so let down by such a trusted brand and the stress of this ordeal, just before Xmas, extremely traumatic.
Please take photos of everything in the room upon arrival so you dong have to go through what we have.

We had no shower gel throughout our stay as it was never replenished.
Luckily I had taken my own.
The coffee was only replaced once and I had to go to reception each evening to request this.
The safety box, which had our momey in, would not accept our pin number one morning and we had to wait an hour for someone to come and look at this for us. It then took a further 25 minutes to get into it.

We are not fussy and have never complained about anything before, but I feel we have been robbed and this experience
would put me off from recommending this brand to freinds or family.

This is at best a 2 star hotel, and a bad one at that. Room was filthy and not what I had booked, staff was clueless, demotivated, and just plain incompetent. Among other issues they took 50 minutes to send soap and shampoo to my room in the morning (when it should have been there already as I had checked in the night before), causing me to miss a critical business meeting at 8am in the office building nearby. I literally had to ask them 3 times to get it in the morning and they wouldn't take care of it themselves but rather said they would "send someone". "someone" never showed up. Until 8am.

The experience you described does not meet the expectations of excellence. Room conditions and service speed are key priorities, and your situation will be looked into earnestly to understand what occurred. The feedback concerning team members will be addressed to ensure they are properly equipped to provide outstanding service. Your comments are valued and help guide improvements.

Of the three elevators, only one works and it doesn't work continuously. The rooms are worn out, the furniture is absolutely worn out and everything is very dusty. People often forget to refill the drinks, towels, soap and toilet paper. The windows are covered in dirt and haven't been cleaned (outside) for ages. The view was wonderful but it doesn't make up for the lack of quality of the hotel, which charges a very high amount for this poor service.

Fantastic location in the Financial District, views overlooking the World Trade Centre. Rooms were spacious, with a large working TV, large bed with comfy pillows. The room and bathroom were spotless, supplied with hair dryer, bottles of water, ice bucket, the only thing missing was a safe. Very easy and quick check in/check out process with helpful friendly staff. Never queued for an elevator, so happy with our stay and would recommend to others!
Also for breakfasts, across the block is a place called “Stage Door Diner” which is perfect to grab a bagel etc on your day out. Thankyou Millenium Downtown!

I would rate my experience below average. The hotel location was perfect directly across street from world trade center and great view of Hudson river. The hotel was under renovation so the bar and restaurant was closed, the bar and restaurant was my deciding factor on choosing this hotel and when I booked their website didn’t disclose that important information. Their rooms should be cheaper during renovations to compensate for the inconvenience. Lastly room service was horrible had the toughest time just to get a menu had to contact a manager .

The absolute worst hotel that I have ever been to! Firstly, I stayed for 10 days and specifically requested a quiet room. When I checked in, they gave me a room next to the elevator, and an ac unit that didn’t work. I then requested a room change after day 1. The 2nd room they sent me to, the ac unit was so loud that you couldn’t even hear the tv and was dirty. Then I requested another room change. Mind you this is the 3rd room which was also old and dated and smelt putrid. I realised the poor standard of the hotel was the normal standard. As I was working as well from the hotel, I needed a proper internet. There was no option to pay for a fast internet so I had no choice but to use their internet which kept dropping every 15-20mins while I was in meetings. Needless to say, I was not able to conduct my meetings resulting in a loss of revenue. I complained several times to the manager and spoke to IT, but IT never called my back when they promised someone would attend to me in person. In addition to this, I would request room service for breakfast. However, these in room dining requests were never sent to the kitchen, so I was left with no breakfast coming to the room. I complained to the manager about this. The cleaners were absolutely rude and demanded that I leave the room so she could clean, even though I said that I was working. I complained about this yet again to the manager. Then it got worse. The cleaner wouldn’t pick up the dirty towels, then I complained to management. It continued to get worse. The cleaner wouldn’t replace any towels, any toiletries nor vacuum. I complained yet again to the manager. Then the concierge staff was most rude to me when I asked to collect a package which was delivered to me. Not only that, but the concierge would be chatting away loudly in the lobby talking about ‘a b**ch’!
I’m utterly disgusted by the lack of concern by management. Seems it falls on deaf ears. But when I have to stay in a dirty hotel and basic things like cleanliness, manners and respect are not shown, it is a grave mistake my management and will be detrimental to the hotel.

We regret to read about your stay with us. Your experiences certainly don't reflect the hotel standards we strive for. The shortage of comfort due to the room placements, noise level, air conditioning, and cleanliness concerns are deeply regrettable, and we assure you our team is driven by providing a comfortable, pleasant environment that caters to the guest's individual needs. Your feedback on timely responses, especially regarding the internet issues, is taken into account; we acknowledge the vital role of reliable connectivity, especially when it affects your professional commitments. Your in-room dining experiences are disappointing too and we understand the compounded frustration as a result of these issues. Kindly note that our colleagues' demeanor and communication are an important part of our service delivery and any inadequacy shown would certainly be addressed constructively. Towels and toiletries replenishment, along with general room upkeep, should be in-line with guests' schedules and other obligations. We regret hearing that this wasn't your experience. Lastly, we recognize your remarks about the management team and understand that you felt unheard. It's our commitment to addressing issues raised by our guests promptly and effectively. While it seems we fell short during your stay, we value your feedback and appreciate you bringing these matters to our attention. We hope you'll give us another opportunity to rectify these shortcomings and deliver an experience more indicative of our usual high-regarded service standards.

Never a good experience here
Room booked wasn’t ready at 7:30 pm so didn’t get the room I paid for ( second time this has happened)
They charge you extra fees promising credits to be able to use and then don’t apply the credit to your folio ( third time this has happened)
The loyalty program is a joke
Have had had numerous visits and provided the loyalty number at reservation, at check in and at check out and nothing EVER gets posted to the account.
What’s the point in the loyalty program?

Outlets in room don’t all work.

Gave them chances over and over again but no improvement
Will stick to Marriott where atleast the rooms are consistent, your loyalty counts and you don’t get charged for things they should be crediting
