The best part about this hotel is the customer service, but even then the staff can come off as fake and rude. My rooms window wouldn't close properly and my in room dining was just ok. Be aware of the really high resort fees, they don't just hold an incidental deposit they also

Checking in at a late hour will not be a problem at all. For spending money, I’m assuming that you mean that none of this is needed for the hotel cost. $2500 in spending money for a 4-night stay is plenty. Unless you plan to spend money on expensive clothes or furniture or elaborate theatre productions, i would be surprised if you spent $1,000 in 4-days. There is so much to see for free or little cost, and you will be walking a lot of the time - also free :) The hotel is really close to the subway. Learn the subway and you can see everything. Don’t take the bus ride to the Statue of Liberty. They will drive you to New Jersey for no reason. Go to the docks down the street from the Wagner instead. You will save money and hours of time. If you are into Hamilton, check out the restaurant that served as his hangout with Washington, and where he dined socially for the last time. It is not too far from the Wagner. It is called Frances Tavern and is at 54 Pearl Street. Haven’t been there, but wish I had. If you enjoy theatre, check with the Wagner concierge desk for the shows and locations on your first day/morning. Enjoy your time! You folks will love it!
