#170 of 295 hotels in San Diego
The Pacific Shores Inn is a quaint inn located at the north end of Pacific Beach. Many of the rooms offer some views of the ocean while restaurants and shops are just a couple of blocks away. The boardwalk is a 2.5 mile stretch that will take you from the north end of Pacific Beach all the way to the south end of Mission Beach. As you stroll down the boardwalk, you will find oceanfront shops and restaurants as well as the famous Belmont Park in Mission Beach. Bike, and surfboard rentals are located within two blocks so there is no reason to pack those items when visiting us. And, every room has a microwave oven, refrigerator, and a coffee maker for your convenience. Some rooms also have full kitchens for those who require that. Complimentary parking available for guests.

The only redeeming quality about this hotel is its location - steps from the beach and also an easy walk to the heart of pacific beach. However, the room was not renovated as advertised. Beds were lumpy with flat pillows and starchy sheets. Room was fairly clean but upon further inspection, attention to detail is lacking as the edges of the room (baseboards, even just the floor) were filthy. Air conditioning was not central, but instead a wall unit that made weird noises all night. Walls are paper thin. Luckily, our neighbors weren’t particularly loud, but we could hear every noise they made and I would imagine this is a big nuisance for guests with louder neighbors. I’m not even sure the building is structurally sound, as the concrete walkways and steps had big cracks in them. Additionally, during our stay, there was a room directly across from ours that was condemned by the San Diego police - based on other reviews, this was because a fentanyl lab was busted in that room! The room was being renovated during our visit, but it was room 10 so watch out! Management is not even on site - we had to walk down the street to their sister property for check-in and check-out. I would not recommend the Pacific Shores Inn.

Our stay for part of Memorial Day Weekend was great. Karla, Elsa and staff were amazing. They checked us in early, got our two rooms right by each other, they were awesome! The rooms were great, clean, nice sized rooms, nice sized patio, partially private with table and chairs, bathroom was small but shower was huge! The beds and linens could use an upgrade but overall this was great for our family staycation. On the quieter side of Pacific Beach, one block away from the beach, within walking distance to PB’s fun spots, shopping, CVS, grocery store and lots of eateries to choose from.

Thank you very much for your nice comments, and for mentioning Karla and Alpha. I will be sure to mention your review to them, and it really makes our day when we receive reviews like yours. The towels were the only ones I could get that wasn't back-ordered for two months. I do apologize, but are back to our normal linen orders again. We hope to see you again very soon!

In less than 24 hours I had to get 7 room keys. Then I got to wait half an hour each time to get more. I will not stay here anymore and I recommend you do the same. Don’t be fooled by there price. NOT WORTH IT.

We do understand the frustration you experienced, and did do what we could to resolve the key issue. Having this issue is extremely rare, and having the lobby located at our sister property certainly did not help. We do hope to be back at our normal operating procedures with our reception reopening within the next few weeks. We also hope you will try us again the next time you are in San Diego. Please just give me a call for a special rate!

We have been coming here for almost 20 years. I am assuming that there was a change in ownership/management. We came for 2 nights in early October 2020 and paid less than we have ever paid. That should have been my first warning. We had a horrendous time finding parking which has never been an issue. Then we went to check in but now check in was down the block at another hotel?? Ok. Weird. So then got our room and although we booked a room for four, had ONE (1) ONE... ONE? YUP, ONE towel. When we went to the front desk to ask for more they said they didn't have any. ??? We waited a while and tried calling but the line was busy. I went the next day for more towels and was given 2...for FOUR of us. Very very frustrating. So 3 towels for FOUR people for a 3 day stay!?? We also had NO TV and NO WIFI our entire stay. Every time we called the office the line was busy and when we went to the actual office down the block, the man working said they didn't know what was wrong but we could relocate us to another one of their hotels in Point Loma...??? I am literally at a loss. I am not sure what happened to this cute little jewel. If you just need a bed to sleep in, super close to the beach this is for you. BUT bring your own towels!! It is so disappointing that this great place has changed so much. I can't get over the lack of towels and parking for paying guests. Time to find somewhere new I guess!

We are very sorry for the while COVID-19 precautions we have been taking that have really inconvenienced some of our guests. But, at this time, we will only be operating one lobby for safety reasons, and have rectified the linen situation. We hope you will come back again the next time.

We like to stay here when we simply want to hang out at the beach. The reviews are accurate in describing the location: the hotel is a quick minute walk to the beach. We like to grab our gear and go. Some of our favorite places to eat in Pacific Beach are just a couple/few blocks away. There’s no breakfast or coffee at the hotel lobby right now because of Covid (9/2020). There is a small coffee maker in the room but it uses those little custom trays you have to get from housekeeping. The room was nice & comfortable. Yes, there were some minor housekeeping or handyman-type issues, but nothing that negatively impacted our stay. Perhaps we were lucky, but I will say our stay was quiet and we didn’t feel unsafe. Thank you ... we’ve been coming the past 10 years .... and we look forward to more trips in the future
