This is more like a 3.7 but to be nice we just we’ll say 4. The rooms was quaint and clean. Needs some paint retouches but nothing too horrible. Definitely works for a short stay. We were on the 7th floor and the part that was a little downer was that the hallways had the trash out. We checked in around 4 and there were trash bags outside most of the rooms, left for dinner came back around 6:30pm trash still there. Left again came back around 11:00 and yep.. the trash was there. There were a few noisy people and the hotel doesn’t have that many amenities which helps avoid the resort fee.

Nicole was great. Good customer service. The room was nice but there were two issues. The adapter box where you connect usb cords for music was nasty and sticky like someone poured honey. The maintenance immediately corrected that and replaced the cables that didn’t work. My daughter got in the shower and the metal handle fell off in her foot!

We arrived by car on a Friday night for a three-night stay. Nobody greeted us for several minutes as there was no one at the bell stand or behind the front desk. We began pulling our luggage out of the car, and finally someone arrived at the front desk to call for a bell staff member to receive our car into valet. At check-in, we were instructed that, though the housekeeping staff do not enter rooms due to current protocols, towels and linens would be brought to our room upon request. This is fine, covid protocols make sense. That expectation of service as needed was not met. Since the room is supplied with only enough towels for the first night, we requested a fresh set the 2nd day. This took 4 hours to fulfill, but a staff member did bring them up. The request for the final day was never fulfilled after we called. Following several unanswered calls were attempted, someone finally did pick up and advised me to come downstairs to collect towels as he indicated there was no one around to deliver them. When I arrived at the front desk a few minutes later, the desk was vacant, and nobody responded to my calling out for assistance. After several minutes of searching the lower floor, a staff member showed up, asked my name and room number, and provided the towels. Aside from the TV being disconnected from the media hub, our room itself was fine. With location being so convenient we still have a great weekend. The poor service was the problem as we did not feel welcomed or appreciated the entirety of the stay. Whoever in management came up with the idea for the cheap rates to pack the place with a skeleton staff should consider a new career.

Normally if I’m not satisfied I don’t do a review... but I felt this needed to be noted. PROs: great location. Walking distance to waterfront, Gaslamp, Little Italy. Clean but older building... (I didn’t have an issue with that) CONs: I’ll preface by saying COVID protocols played a role in some of this... no maid service, no problem. We’ve been traveling all year so we get that. But their staffing was so low, that when we asked for more towels, it took two calls down... 45 minute wait. Called again, they sent up the valet car guy with two bath mats and two hand towels. Asked again... got two more hand towels. Asked again... 1 hour later, finally got two bath towels. AND THE FRONT DESK CLERK... PLEASE STOP CALLING ME “HUN...” I am a paying guest, not your friend. When we checked out... line up of people... nobody at front desk. Note that said they were helping a client. NOISE: on the 8th floor...road noise should be minimal. But with single pane glass (older building)....every door slam, ever honk, every revving of motors. Hearing your next door neighbor... thin walls. 👀 DANGER: windows open ...downward, large enough for a toddler to fall out of... again, older windows, right next to chairs and table...accident waiting to happen. If you’re just needing a place to stay, no frills, close to Gaslamp... then yes, it’s fine. Any expectation beyond that is (at this time) beyond their scope.
