It’s a beautiful hotel but if you get a marina view, try to call ahead and make sure your view won’t be blocked by the back wall of the gym. Restaurant has great breakfast options, they also proclaimed coupons for kayak or paddle boarding.
Spacious, clean, comfortable room with views of the bay. We sooo needed this quick little getaway. Everything exceeded our expectations…from staff to room to amenities..kids loved pool, water slides and having food delivered poolside was so convenient. Lots of activities to do-we even got the 1free hour of kayaking in. What a great place to stay…would come back in a heartbeat!
This hotel is an excellent venue for a small conference. Many of the events can be held outside, which is great even if one isn’t in the middle of, well, a global pandemic. There's a good-sized pool. There's the ocean. These benefits outweigh the fact that the property is a bit dated. A drawback is that nothing is really within walking distance. Service was good. Rooms reasonably up to date and in good condition. No complaints!
We must say that the staff was terrific. From greeting by the valet, check in desk and staff all around the property...fantastic! Nice, helpful and friendly. The property is a dump! And SO overpriced! For nearly $900 a nite we had a lovely suite with a great view but so poorly designed and shabby and they said they were "recently renovated"!! The bed was so uncomfortable and designed with about 8" on one side so you had to get into bed sideways! Whoever designed these rooms should be forced to stay a night in them! No desk or workspace, a "hightop" table with no easy outlets, chipped furniture and dirty sofa. It was truly horrible with no regard to price! A terrible value (or shall I say no value at all). I just don't get it, who designs these rooms?? They should be forced to stay in one for a night! The worst! Hyatt Regency should be ashamed. The onsite restaurant was lovely with again, excellent service and staff! And good food. But the worst hotel value we have experienced in a long time. Get with the times, Hyatt!…
We chose the Hyatt due to location. We were attending a wedding at a resort just a couple of miles away and the Hyatt was the closest. Beautiful resort. Front desk service was exceptional. We got the early check-in we requested at exactly the time we requested (2:30 PM). Had to settle for an ADA room with two beds near the elevator, but for one night - no big deal. Just wish we had been told about the room ‘change’ at the time. Lovely balcony with a bay view above the pool. Noisy during the day but that’s to be expected. A bit expensive for a one night stay since we used none of the resort amenities. But overall no complaints.
The hotel is located in a very centralized area and provides ease of getting around. The kids had a blast on the slides and really enjoyed the heated pools. However, the price for parking is higher than other hotels in the area, at $45 a night. The staff at check in was not very welcoming and the check in process was very cold and transactional. The valet attends were great and quick! The food options were limited and the hotel does not provide breakfast like most Hyatts do. There is the Marlin restaurant which offers breakfast, but only limited options. The pool side restaurant Pelican, offered a small menu and overpriced drinks and food. The prices were comparable to prices of Vegas hotels without the poolside service. It was convenient for a quick bite during pool days, but nothing special . The nightly price is a little high for what it is. The lobby is very underwhelming and not impressive, as it almost looks as it was a remodeled motel. The property offers a tower building and then 3 smaller suites buildings that are more motel style. The room we were in was in the Tower building and provided a nice view of the marina. We also were woken every morning with the sound of a drill and were told it was maintenance and nothing that could have been done. Would not stay here again. …
The overall experience at the Hyatt at Mission Bay was average. The check in process was really painless. If you have the Hyatt app, you could get a digital key, but it didn’t work for us. The hotel rooms on the lower floors weren’t too bad. The rooms weren’t newly renovated, but they weren’t too dated. If you are on the lower floors and are facing the pool, you will hear the people at the pool. The pool closes at 9 pm so the noise will be gone by then. The water slides closed at 5 pm so if you have kids that want to use them, keep that in mind. The pool area was okay. They were understaffed so don’t expect any servers to ask you if you want to order anything. You were better off just going to the bar to get your order in. There are three pools. Two of the pools have the slides - two normal ones and a smaller kiddie slide. For the normal slide, the height requirement was 42 inches in height. However, it seemed like if your child wasn’t tall enough, but had a flotation device (not the ones just for the arms), then it seemed like your child would still be able to go on the slide. The water temperature of the pool was okay. If it was windy and cloudy, the water was bearable, but getting out would be cold. There is a towel dispenser that requires you to swipe your hotel key card. You need to return your towels to the dispenser- I had read on a previous review that if you don’t return the towels, you will be charged a fee. We took the towels to the hotel room, but before the pool closed, we would always return the towels ourselves. In the rooms, there were a Keurig type coffee maker, a mini fridge and 2 bottles of water. The toiletries were in small bottles so if you need more of those bath products, it may be easier to bring your own. The temperature of one of the mini fridges was not adjustable, but in the second room, it was. If you have drinks, the fridge will keep them cool. If you have dairy products, don’t put your products all the way in the back . Otherwise, you will have frozen milk! When we had problems with our room, the hotel didn’t go above and beyond, which was disappointing. If you have a family and have to move two rooms, it is a huge inconvenience. So it was disappointing that they didn’t really do anything to assist with that. One team member, Chau Dang, was very friendly. She made you feel appreciated and valued. So many kiddos to her.…
While staff was polite and pleasant, the follow through was no rather than yes. It took many calls and three hours to get our luggage. Many items in my room were broken and or in disrepair including thermostat air conditioning phone safe tv remote. Yes they fixed the broken items but when I check into a resort hotel for the weekend I should not have to deal with repairs or the walking to the front desk. Someone should have inspected the room.
great place to stay centrally located, rooms where well maintained STAFF was courtesy and helpful at all times I would stay her again. Close by restaurant the RED MARLIN great place to eat breakfast and dinner, Pool area great for the kids This place is close to Sea World and Belmont Park.. As small drive away from old town
Our suite faced the marina. An ideallic setting for relaxation and awesome views. The staff was very attentive and room service great. The hotel was lovely and our suite more than satisfactory. We have been privileged to stay in some very fancy hotels. This one was quite nice but more than that the accommodations were so perfect for our family.
