My vehicle was broken into and burglarized. There are no cameras inside the parking garage and they charge you $23 per night for no security. My car was parked in the lighted section next to elevator and it was still broken into. When talking to security people and management, they confirmed that there was nothing they could do since they have no cameras inside the parking structure. Park at your own risk. Several people had break-in's during the same night I stayed. Would not recommend staying anywhere downtown.

Sometime last night the power went out at the hotel...only the hotel, streetlights and every business around the hotel had power. We needed to be at the hospital at 5AM, so had to leave early. The only person at the desk was night security. Fortunately he had raised the parking garage gate so we could get our vehicle out, that was the only good thing about this experience. Being an electrical engineer who has worked for a municipal public works for many years, I recognize this was a facility issue. In other words the outage was in the hotel mechanical room and clearly no one called an electrician to restore power. Either no one was there to make the call or the owner did not want to pay off hour rates. Regardless the folks staying at the hotel paid the price. As a result of the power outage, there was no hot water. When we left the room, we found only a few of the emergency exit lights were lit and there were battery powered puck lights on the floor in a very few places. I just happened to find a door to the stairs to get down from the 3rd floor. Had there been a fire, there would have been a severe loss of life as there would have been no lights, few signs and in the confusion and panic, people would have perished. I am a long time Holiday Inn Express customer, a gold member and this is the worst IHG property I have ever stayed at. AVOID THIS HOTEL AT ALL COST.

WARNING - if you drive and want to park - it’s a VERY tight garage. We had a Malibu and it is still challenging on a good day!! It’s also $23/day. So just a heads up. We like this hotel because it is very close to Midway, GasLamp, Little Italy... you could walk - but can be a tad sketchy at night. The rooms are clean and fairly updated. It’s great for a few nights - small keruig and mini fridge. Bathroom is tiny - but shower pressure is great. We like the balcony. There aren’t many hotels with a balcony so this is one of our reasons for staying. The comp breakfast will get better once “per-Covid life” returns...but it’s still some light food in the morn to get you going. Overall - we have stayed here a few times and will most likely return. Pics are a king room with balcony.

The hotel is located within a mile of the San Diego wharf, Little Italy, and Balboa Park. The employees were all very friendly and offered great customer service. The coffee at breakfast was always hot and we enjoyed the breakfast options. The hotel does need some remodeling but our room was very clean and comfortable. If we had a concern or needed something extra, the employee staff were very helpful. Thanks for making our visit a great experience.
