The location is perfect for seeing a Padres game or hanging out in the Gaslamp District. The rooms are a nice size. My only knock would be that the bathrooms are small. The pool area has a fun party vibe. There is music and cornhole and lots of room to hang out. The staff were friendly and very accommodating.
It was perfect for us! Room is very spacious and clean, the location is gold!!!walking distance to the stadium, gaslamp, restaurants and bars. Staff is very friendly and helpful, highly recommend this hotel for San Diego.
We enjoyed Upper East very much! We had an awesome few of the stadium as well from our window. Cornhole was probably our favorite thing to do on the rooftop bar. Staff was extremely friendly. Regards, Donnie Roland
My only concern is that there was lack of dairy free desserts and no room service. I loved the coffee bar and amazing customer service. If we could get maybe basic pastries when the restaurant isn't open instead of candy, that would be awesome.
We stayed here for possibly the busiest week of SD, Comic-Con week. Service was fantastic throughout - valet, bell hops, front desk, and cleaning staff were all so nice and helpful. Rooms are a pretty normal size, nice bathroom. Parking was $35 for electric vehicles, really nice that they incentivize EV cars. Unfortunately no complimentary breakfast but plenty of food options within walking distance. Hotel was easy walking distance to the convention center and felt safe.
Pool bar was awesome as a warm up. Then out to a few bars, hotel provided excellent location for food, drink, and dining. Not to mention how close it is to Petco Park. The staff was friendly and responsive to all of our needs. Great job!
This hotel was perfect for us during San Diego Comic Con. Everyone working there was so nice, good housekeeping, AC kept the room nice and cool, and the beds were so comfortable. Nice size room too. I'd recommend if staying in San Diego and want to be where the action is.
Solamar had a room for me in an emergency. The rate was reasonable. They have quiet hours after 10pm, which was much appreciated. Nice pool, nice lobby. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The location of the hotel was convenient to dining, transportation, and the convention center. The room was well appointed and equipped. Cleanliness was ok.
We had a great stay....staff was insanely nice and helped me out when an online reservation company made a mistake and didn't actually book my reservation. I was a bit upset that I ended up paying more out the door ($400 more) when having to book through the hotel versus what I had booked through the online hotel website. I was also not happy that they closed the pool down to guests with families (yet still charged us for this ammenity) because they scheduled a 21 and over pride pool party for the whole weekend. Imagine only being allowed somewhere based strictly on your sexual orientation. My son was upset he didn't get to take advantage of the pool due to this. We should of gotten a discount on our stay knowing the amenities we pay for we weren't allowed to use. Beyond that the hotel is nice...I've stayed there twice now and like I said the staff was so nice. We had an excellent view of petco park so we got to see the fireworks after the game. There was a rock concert another night and the city was doing road construction on the road below us sooo keep in mind if this isn't the quietest location.…
Our room was fantastic. Loved the decor, very spacious and trendily decorated. We had a deluxe corner room which was super spacious. The free water bottles in the room was a nice touch. Great location right in the middle of the gaslamp quarter with all of the bars and restaurants near by. The restaurant was only open for breakfast a few days a week, none of which were while we were there, which was a bit of a disappointment but there are plenty of options nearby. The pool was loveky, although we struggled to get a chair or bed on a couple of occassions. Cabanas are available to rent but we considered them over-priced. The only bar was by the pool which closed quite early. You're allowed to sit by the pool after the bar has closed, which is nice on a summer's evening but you're not allowed to take your own alcohol even after the bar has closed. We hadn't seen the sign stating this and we got shouted at when we went to open a bottle of wine. That was the only major disappointment of our stay …
