Too much of a headache the whole way through. I travel frequently for work and have acquired Hilton Gold status. I was excited to use my perks, including a potential room upgrade and free breakfast, for this vacation. Not only that, I booked a second room for my brother at this property for this family trip. Check-in felt a little awkward - I had to prompt to ask about a potential upgrade, which was granted, and no information whatsoever about the hotel was offered without prompting (breakfast, pool, fitness center, etc.). The real headaches came upon checkout. When my brother checked in (after the 4 Pm check in time), he was told that his room type was not available and that his room would be upgraded. Upon checkout, the cost per night was near double that listed upon booking. Upon verifying with the hotel, the front desk staff confirmed that we were mistakenly charged the upgraded rate. This was quickly amended but frustrating. Upon my own checkout, I also experienced a higher charge than expected. Up to $30 at the Watercolors restaurant is supposed to be the Hilton Honors breakfast perk. I was told this may be charged to the room but to contact the hotel and it will be immediately removed. It was charged to my bill for each day of my stay. When trying to contact the hotel this evening, the phone number does not seem to be working. The only reason I give 2 stars and not 1 is because the property is beautiful and in a fantastic location. The rooms and modern and comfortable and we enjoyed a lovely day at the pool. The restaurants of Little Italy are fantastic and the property is in walking distance of most of downtown San Diego. I want to give this place the benefit of the doubt, but honestly this experience is making me reconsider future Hilton stays.

Hotel's Favourite
This hotel is a gem. The employees are welcoming and helpful, and the property itself is gorgeous. There is a restaurant in the lobby with also some grab and go items. The gym that is connected is a full sized athletic club. There is a small pool on the 4th floor with a hot tub and a lot of outdoor lounge space and seating. On the room there is a great bar where you can normally (non covid times) sit and have drinks and food! The room is BEAUTIFUL and comfortable. The bed was high end and so are all the furnishings. The bathroom is spa quality. My only complaint is soundproofing. I could clearly hear the room next to me and I ended up with just 1.5 hours or so of sleep because of it. I did call twice about it, but it didnt help and they actually moved into the hall and got louder (I think on purpose). I should have requested to move, so its my fault, and I will for sure stay here again because its beautiful. For those who want a great location, you are located just a few blocks from downtown, a 20 minute walk to Hillcrest or Balboa and 5 minute walk to my favorite area, little Italy!

Great hotel. Love the location. Pool delightful. Gym really nice. Food at restaurants mostly really good. Everything really clean and comfortable. No mention of diamond membership or benefits at check in. No offer of room upgrade, no explanation of breakfast/credit. No mention of any hotel amenities - hours for breakfast and other restaurants, hours/location of pool/gym/etc. When I did inquire about breakfast credit I was told instead of complimentary breakfast I would have a $30 credit per night and it could be used anywhere on property. This was apparently incorrect (credit could be used only for breakfast) as it took me 30 minutes at check out to explain that multiple staff memebers (waitress, breakfast restaurant manager, bartender) had all told it could be used anywhere. Finally, when the credit was applied, the front desk wanted to apply it to a $25 charge instead of the $175 charge I had at a restaurant. She said, This way the whole charge will be covered. I explained that would mean I’d be missing out on $5 of the credit. I asked if she could just apply it to the larger charge. She said she could but really would prefer to apply it to the $25 charge so the whole charge would be covered. What?? Pool supposedly had food service starting at noon. Friday, this worked seamlessly - friendly prompt service. At 11:45 on Saturday, I went to the pool. At 12:15 I called down to the front desk: “I’m at the pool and there is no waitress... will you be staffing the pool today or do I need to go get takeaway from the restaurant?” Response: You can order take away from the restaurant. Me: “So no pool staff today?” Response: Oh, it’s staffed. Me: “Uh... no, it’s not.” Response: “You’re at the pool now?” Me: “Never mind” Check in wasn’t great but 9 out of the 10 or so staff I encountered were super nice and friendly. But even those seemed to be overwhelmed with their responsibilities and without all the information necessary to do their jobs well. I’ll blame some of this on the pandemic, but some of the interactions were pretty ridiculous.

This hotel is the worst! Hilton honors members beware you will get charged for the “complimentary” breakfast. The policy changed in the middle of my stay where the restaurant no longer gave the credit on the spot and said ‘don’t worry the front desk will credit at the end of the stay’. Guess what? They didn’t. Now I’m dealing with billing after checkout. Don’t expect any housekeeping because current policy dictates that they will not enter you room once you check in. I hated the entire stay, never will I stay here again
