This was the worst experience ever!!! I never been to a resort where the food was so bad that we had to go else where or order in… staff not the friendliest and rooms not the best!!! I will never recommend anyone to this property.

Hotel's Favourite
We live in Dana Point and love to drive an hour south to enjoy this property. If you have young kids this is the easiest getaway! The pool with plenty of waterside seating, the cozy cabanas, Splash area, and fun poolside activities make this a relaxing and fun getaway where Mom and Dad don’t have to entertain all day. The property also has easy access to a beach on the bay where you can rent paddle boards, pontoon boats, wave runners, etc. we ate numerous meals at the restaurant and pool and were pleasantly surprised at how delicious everything was. If you want a bayside getaway with family... look no further.

From making a splash at our fun-filled resort pool to indulging in some of our culinary delicacies at Covewood, it sounds like you made the most of your stay. Whenever you are seeking another relaxing, family getaway, we would be more than happy to welcome you back, and we look forward to seeing you again soon. Overall my stay was pretty good. I think for the price of the hotel offers a variety of nice amenities. This resort is definitely geared towards families and this was a bday couples trip but they do a really good job of balancing kid fun and adult fun so you won’t feel out of place even if it’s a couples and friends type of trip. The housekeeping needs work. Our bed sheets were old and the overall room had an “old hotel smell” to it. I had to request fresh towels a few times bc they forgot but no biggie. The poolside food wasn’t that great but the food at Covewood was very good, we enjoyed breakfast there overlooking the water. The pool area and beach access is also nice. You have access to bike wand water sport rentals. I think the location is awesome as well, we were 15 mins of everything we wanted to do.

Everyone on the property was friendly but our travel was really first class with the assistance of Mike C. whose knowledge while maintaining a professsional friendly deameanor who met and exceeded our expectations. In the hotel business I like to recognize the above and beyone work. Beautiul views and solid restaurant as well.

This is a nice hotel, has a nice restaurant/bar and pool onsite. Staff were friendly. Rooms were ok, not as clean as we expected. Not well kept as the carpet was badly stained and drapes were dirty. The only issue we had was the first night! We heard a lady screaming/crying just after 3:30 am. She continued to yell/cry for what seemed like an hour! I could hear other voices talking to her as well, trying to calm her down. But the sound of her cries was like nothing I would ever forget. So much pain and distress in her voice. Of course I had no idea what was going on... Later that day, I found out that someone was shot and had died in the room which was the floor right beneath us! When I found out (later that evening) I immediately contacted the front desk and asked to be moved. The hotel did not inform us what happened instead we had to find out later in the day ourselves. Ugh. I get that they do not want to cause panic but I did not like that they didn't inform their guests who stayed in that same building and had to witness such a traumatizing event. I will never forget the mother's cry that night of losing her son. It's been a month, I thought the trauma would go away by now... but no. I still have flashbacks. Not a single staff member checked to make sure things were ok with us. Even though we reported the traumatic event we had to experience the first night. So it made the rest of the couple days during our stay hard to swallow. We couldn't help but think about what had occured in the same building we stayed at and walking the same hallways, etc.
