I just returned from a four night stay at this great hotel. Most impressive was the front desk staff, especially Amelia, who went beyond in her assistance to make my stay comfortable. Also Lisa at the front desk was very friendly and welcoming to me. Thank you Amelia and Lisa! The location of the hotel is great within a few blocks of "Little Italy" restaurants - also a short walk down to the harbor area - and close enough for a longer walk to "Lamplight District". Location is about two blocks of the San Diego area trolley which I used twice. I also used the convenient shuttle from (and back to) the airport. My room was great - comfortable bed, very clean, all amenities as needed. And I used the well equipped exercise facility. Price was very fair - with a $15 dollar daily credit in the local restaurant. I will return and use this hotel again!

Hotel's Favourite
Alyssa and her team really went above and beyond to accommodate my friends and I in our trip to San Diego at the Westin and we’d 100% choose this hotel again for any future trips to San Diego. I booked 2 rooms for our group and she was able to honor a suite night request (I have Ambassador status with Marriott) & also ensure our 2nd room connected to the suite!! The suite was huge which was amazing so that we could spread out. She also arranged for a birthday cake to be delivered to the room for my friend’s birthday which was such a fun surprise. The hotel staff was very responsive to our requests for extra toiletries, towels, robes, etc. and took away our trash/dirty towels every evening. They even found an HDMI cord so that we could connect our computer to the tv and watch a movie. We felt it was very clean & everyone wears masks in common spaces. They have a good amount of services even in COVID (e.g., the airport shuttle, breakfast downstairs in the lobby, etc.). The sunsets from the room were beautiful and we even enjoyed the pool! Overall it was a fantastic value and I’m very thankful to Alyssa and her staff for their warm hospitality!!

So, after reading several reviews, we called the hotel .to clarify some of what we read. There IS late check out if you're Platinum and they DO have an early check in charge as well as a $25 resort fee. We thank Alyssa for accomodating our needs and working with us. It helped us to see Covid from the hotel's viewpoint and how it has impacted the services they are able to provide as we recover from this pandemic. We were very happy with our room and WERE upgraded. The location was PERFECT for us as we were able to walk to Seaport Village the first afternoon we got there. We walked to Little Italy for dinner which was vibrant people were excited to be back somewhat "normal" again. We walked to the Midway museum and tour the next morning which was extremely interesting. We have no complaints an while service is still limited, the hotel personnel were friendly and more than helpful. No complaints from us.

We stayed in a very nice room on a high floor. The highlight of the hotel was our outstanding shuttle driver William, who made us feel at home on our arrival and gave us outstanding and useful trip suggestions. The bartender got to know the drinks we liked and was also a pleasant person. Overall the hotel is nice and we would certainly stay here again - it was clean, quiet, and comfortable. Free internet is useful, def a plus. This is a dog friendly hotel. And the rate for the room (~150$/nt) was high value. However, there are some areas for improvement: -rooms could use refresh, such as with hard (not carpet) floors. -no room service? -no in room movies? -sheets that actually cover the duvet in entirety, not just putting the duvet between two sheets. -not having to request room service, or having an opt out instead of an opt in, or more clearly telling customers on check in that room service must be requested a day in advance. -not having a power cable for the hot water kettle! We asked for a hot water heater for the room and we received a hot water kettle with hot water in it but no cable. Apparently the water was heated in the kitchen because no one had the kettle cable. -not clearly explaining parking on arrival (there are two parking lots, one next door with valet and one across the street). -more enforcement of wearing masks indoors in a place like this. especially in elevators.

travelwithmycanon - Thank you for your review and feedback. We value our guests and appreciate you taking the time to provide positive feedback and possible areas of opportunity. Westin is a dog friendly brand and we do welcome our furry friends with Westin Heavenly dog beds and bowls upon request. We continue to work at putting back all the luxuries of a full service hotel as we hire back staff. The hotel does not own a parking garage and therefore all our guests self park in the garage directly across the street. The office portion of our building utilizes the parking garage under the building and they offer their tenants valet parking. We hope to reinstate our valet services in the next couple weeks. The hotel continues to support and follow the CA guidance on mask wearing indoors for all people that are not full vaccinated. In addition to, our team members are still required to wear a mask at all time. We trust our guests to following the rules through an honor system. Thank you again for your feedback and for the personal recognition of William the shuttle driver and the bartender on shift while you were here. Remain Well, Alyssa Turowski, General Manager

My current trip at the Westin Downtown San Diego was NOT a good experience. I usually stay at Hilton properties but recently tried Westin in the Gas Lamp area and was thoroughly satisfied, and tried the Westin again for this current trip. Unfortunately this hotel was not up to my expectations. The front desk service was amazing, I will say that. No issues at all with the staff. My expectations of a room on a high level with a city view were not met at all. My Room- -Upon arrival I though the room looked nice but soon realized there was a stale smell in the room. I thought that maybe after turning on the AC, the smell would dissipate. This did not happen at all. -The bathroom was okay on the first day and then I noticed a dripping noise on the second day. The plumbing under the sink was dripping on the floor. I had to use the towels to ensure the water did not leak over the entire bathroom floor. -Looking at the bathroom ceiling, the vents were extremely dusty. **This may have contributed to the issue below. -After getting out of the shower and opening the bathroom door, this set the fire alarm off on 2 occasions. Never had this happen before. -The hand/magnifying mirror was loose and barely usable since it was not screwed in completely and was barely usable since it would not stay in the same place. -The lights were a dull yellow color which seemed odd. Thought this was only for the standing lamp but it was all of the lights in the room. This was unacceptable, especially to a working professional in need of proper lighting for work. -Parking - Upon check-in, I had to ask about the parking passes. I was issued 3 parking passes that were included with my stay and was told that are no in and out privileges. This was not very convenient or spelled out during the room reservation process. I took the three parking passes and on my second to last day at the hotel, I asked the reception person for another since I would Need to make a trip out of the garage exceeding the one parking pass per day. I was then told that I should have been given two passes/ day. This was nice, but a few days too short. I had used the uber eats and door dash service which ended up costing way more than it would have costed if I had the correct amount of parking passes and could drive myself to get my food. I value your time taking a look at this feedback and hopefully take this into consideration so that I will again feel comfortable with staying at a Westin/Marriott property.

!Esquire1984 - I am very disappointed to learn of your recent experience to the Westin San Diego Downtown. We strive to ensure we meet and exceed our guests expectation before, during and after their stay. I have shared your feedback with our team and will be sure all referenced opportunities are immediately addressed. This is not typical of our rooms and guests overall experience. The parking situation was a misunderstanding and again, I apologize for that. We offer our guests self parking for $35/night with 2 vouchers to come and go. We hope to soon have valet parking reinstated. I do hope you will give Westin San Diego Downtown another try should your travels bring you back to San Diego. We know we are better than what you experienced. Remain Well, Alyssa Turowski, General Manager
