If you're passing through Gunnison and looking for a place to stay, Wanderlust hostel is a must. I was greeted by the manager who was super friendly and gave me a tour of the place along with some local recommendations. The hostel was exceptionally clean and comfortable. Felt at home as soon as I walked in the door. The hostel has all the necessities and was full of friendly and considerate people. Oh and the colors and decor were great! I will definitely stay here again if I ever find myself passing through the area.

I can’t say enough nice things about Wanderlust Hostel! After camping for 2 weeks, I needed to do laundry. No problem! For a modest $6 charge the person on duty washed and dried the clothes for me! There’s lots of space in the kitchen to stash your food if you want to cook, and the kitchen is stocked well with everything you need. Coffee is complimentary in the morning. Bathrooms are clean and well maintained. Outside there are comfy chairs and a hammock. They have bikes (with locks) to lend you for exploring the town. The first night I stayed in the large private room which is very nice and away from the other bedrooms and kitchen. I decided to stay another night and slept in the bunk bed room (the large private was booked) and it was just fine. Highly recommend this place. If you want the private room be sure to reserve it in advance.

This one of those places that is such a little gem that you want to keep it all to yourself. But, hey, sharing is caring. It is everything all the other reviewers say it is. But maybe it's not for everyone so I'll say a word about that. I was there during a heat wave and the room got really hot and stuffy. So much so that it was really hard for me to sleep comfortably (and I'm a slender dude). The window in the room is really small and we slept with the door closed so we would not get bothered by the lights from the common room or anyone else getting up in the middle of the night. I was tossing and turning so I ended up just sleeping on the couch in the common room with the window wide open above me head (in which case it got quite chilly. Also, the showed knob is a bit jacked up. To get the water in the shower to come out, you basically need Herculean strength to pull on the knob. They really should get that fixed. Lastly, on my last day there, there was no hot water. I don't imagine this is a regular occurrence, but I thought I should mention it. So maybe it's not everyone's cup of tea. But for me all these things only knock it down from an A++ to just an A+. That's just how special this place was. Enjoy :-)
