The hotel itself was good, with competent polite and friendly staff. The rooms were large and had all facilities in general (a water kettle would be good to have). But I had to check out early as the hotel in only slightly away from the Tenderloin area which kind of bleeds over. It felt extremely unsafe around the hotel, so much so that I hardly left the hotel with a taxi. It’s a shame really- the hotel and other businesses in the area would definitely be impacted from the situation visible- lots of drug addicted people loitering about the streets does not make for a pleasant experience

Hotel looks new. Rooms are very clean and the staff is very friendly. Breakfast was very good. You will have to valet park. This is typical of most downtown hotels. You are a short drive from the Golden Gate Bridge and Pier 39. I would definitely stay here again.

This hotel has pluses and minuses but was a good experience overall. It borders a sketchy neighborhood with homeless and drug activity but the hotel itself is very secure, with keyed entry at all doors, keyed elevator access, and security at the main entrance. The rooms are small (at least mine was) and there isn't much furniture as a result. Don't plan on getting any work done because there is no chair or desk to work on. But there is a space in the lobby to work with excellent internet. The rooftop has benches and tables with chairs and has fantastic view of the city and water. The inside is fairly newly renovated, rooms, hallways, and lobby. The free hot breakfast in the basement is terrific. If you need to be in the convention area, it's very convenient 10-minute walk to Moscone. The front desk staff are extremely helpful and nice. Every other day housekeeping service is standard and you can get everyday service if you want it. I booked at the conference rate 5 months in advance and the rate was #359/night, which is too expensive for the room size and location in my opinion. As long as you know what you're getting, you will enjoy your stay.…

I'd have said "Very Good" had it not been for my bad experience post stay. I arrived at this hotel dead tired, having flown international for 24+ hours and had to check-in a bit early. Don't remember the exact details since this was July 2022 but the front desk lady insisted that if I had to do two different transactions, one for the stay and the other, the deposit, I'd have to wait longer so I just used my debit card for the total amount. I wanted to pay cash for the deposit (probably $150) so that I'd be refunded at check-out. They assured me that it'd go into my account but that never happened....

Went to San Francisco to catch a SF Giants baseball game. This hotel is in a rough area of the city. For the rates they charge, you would think around the hotel would be cleaner. Lots of homeless and drug addicts walking around outside the hotel entrance. You definitely need to be aware of your surroundings if staying at this hotel

This hotel could have been fine but the location has a lot of homelessness around it (not the hotel’s fault). The breakfast really wasn’t well stocked beyond the waffles. The gym is good and there’s a rooftop area that’s fine. I wouldn’t stay here again mostly because of the location.

I selected this hotel based on location, and the reviews on booking.com. I checked TripAdvisor reviews shortly before the start of the trip and was a little concerned about the negative reviews the property had recently. I had no problems at the Hampton Inn Downtown SFO (SOMA) during my stay. The staff were available when needed, my room was cleaned daily and their was breakfast. The breakfast isn't gourmet but it does the trick and there is plenty of choices. The building is secure but easy to access with your key card. The neighborhood is a little sketchy but the area around the front and the back of the hotel felt safe and kept clean. There are a number of good restaurants near the Hamption including Mint 54, an Italian place I enjoyed. The view from the 12th floor room was a wonderful city skyline view. The room is a little on the small side, but well laid out and appointed, the king size bed very comfortable. The only issue I had during the stay is the wi-fi wasn't consistently good. I would stay here again.…

This was the last leg of our 2 week vacation on the west coast and we were staying here for a couple of nights to check out a college and catch some SF sites. Pros: valet parking; centrally located but moot if you use the car; basic free breakfast every morning; staff was very friendly and helpful. Cons: Homeless is rampant in the area and very gritty and disturbing; not good for families with younger kids or solo women; room was clean but very tiny. Reminds me of the old NYC tenement apartments but spruced up. This was very adequate for my young adult son who can sleep in a burlap bag but for the rest of us, we needed a bit more comfort.

I arrived outside of the hotel to see two naked and bloody guys being separated by police along with trash everywhere and homeless everywhere. I’m an experienced traveler and I was actually scared to get out of my vehicle. I tried to cancel my reservation and was met with disdain and rebuke. They would not refund me even though I felt unsafe to stay there. Then on top of it they wanted $60 plus tax to park. Please do not put yourself through this and book elsewhere.

Since we arrived at the hotel I asked for room service for every day, and they didn't give it to me. I had to ask for towels because they didn't come to change them. I had to ask for an extra quilt to cover myself from the cold because they don't put it on. Mold can be found in the bathroom. I would not go back there.
