We stayed here for one night on a trip to San Francisco because our usual hotel wasn’t available. The price was amazingly cheap, (under $180) so I was worried about what we would get but it turned out to be just fine. The neighborhood is not spectacular if you’re not used to San Francisco. Our son lived in this area for many years and so we were fine with the occupants and activities of the area. Super convenient to everything.
The beds were super comfortable in a decent size room. No closet but adorable mid century decor. The room was very clean and the air conditioner worked well even if it was a bit noisy at night. A few things (non working wall clock and hallway carpets with a few stains) showed a bit of wear.
We were there on a Thursday night and the hotel and the area were quite quiet. Front desk staff were friendly and courteous. Housekeeping started a bit earlier and were louder than expected. Quessing the walls are pretty thin.
And unexpected add-on was that they offered a small breakfast with cereals, yogurt, coffee and tea, and toast in the lobby each morning from six till 10.
Some thing that might be relevant for people is the fact that they have a secured parking lot and it’s only $30 a night. We rarely bring a car to the city but have paid up to $75 a night at other hotels.
This is a Red Lion property that was remodeled shortly before Covid and definitely the best of the neighborhood!

I stayed at the Signature San Francisco for a conference and it was exactly what I was hoping for - the room was clean and trendy, the location was only a few blocks away from the Moscone Center, and the service was wonderful! The only downside was that there was not an elevator....and I am not a light packer. Otherwise, I would highly recommend a stay at the Signature San Francisco if looking for a comfortable stay on a budget in a highly sought after location.

Our family of 5 had a fine stay at the Signature. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The rooms were clean and serviced daily. If you’re looking for a clean bed to sleep in and a place to shower this fits the bill. It’s not a room where you’ll spend a lot of time. The set up was a bit awkward (see photos). The room was a basically a small hallway with three doors (2 bedrooms and a bathroom). We propped the bedroom doors open so we weren’t so isolated from our younger kids. Each bedroom had a TV, mini fridge, and safe. The beds were comfortable and the shades blacked out most of the light. There was no space to really hang out aside from watching tv together on the bed. No table and the tv stand had open shelves but no drawers for clothes or other items. The area of SF that the hotel is in leaves much to be desired. There’s nothing much of interest around (besides a wonderful coffee cafe across the street). There is a significant amount of homeless in the area. We were able to walk (0.7mi) to the beginning of the cable car line so that was helpful; especially because the cable cars were free for the month of August. We rented a car and I’m glad we did. Used it to go to Muir Woods, Golden gate park, and other areas of the city that weren’t on the cable
Car line. Parking in San Francisco is a nightmare. The hotel was able to offer us parking for $25 a night because we stayed for a week.

We spent two uncomfortable nights here. When we arrived about 4 p.m. the room the clerk gave us keys to wasn't ready. The room is very tiny, had a strange slope to the floor and there wasn't even a chair let alone table. The tiny area where there is a fridge (the smallest I have ever seen, very shallow, and it wanted to tip over when I opened it) and a coffee maker (only decaf pods supplied which was odd) had no light overhead. The walls are paper thin and we heard every thing from the next room including whole conversations and someone blow drying their hair at midnight. I have never been in such a noisy hotel before.You expect to hear sounds from other rooms from time to time but not to feel like you are actually in the other room! But the worst problem, however, was that the room was very hot on a cold winter's day. We slept very badly. The air conditioner is very loud but you shouldn't have to use it in the middle of winter. There are two windows but they open onto a tiny enclosed space with windows of other rooms very close by. The bathroom fan didn't work. The sheets had some stains in one place that looked like mold that didn't wash out. Not sure why bleach wouldn't have gotten rid of that. The only plus is that it's a good location and there is parking on site. The bathroom lighting was good but there was no shelf to put items on. The hotel is expensive as is much of San Francisco. A much better option would be an airbnb where the owner cares about offering good service.

Really cute 36-room boutique hotel located in SoMa.

The styling is retro chic, the hotel is very clean and well kept, great location, great stay rates, and parking was easy (esp. for San Francisco standards). Their attention to detail in adding little things (snacks in the fridge) to make your stay better was amazing.

...but the greatest thing about this hotel is the staff. The gentlemen at the front desk (I counted 3 during my stay) were kind, attentive, and accommodating especially when two exhausted travelers walked in to their lobby too early for check-in.

One piece of constructive feedback- bigger and fluffier bath towels. But in no way did it impede me from enjoying my stay nor did it overshadow any of the other great details of this place.

Big thank you to the team here. Will def stay here again.

Whit Signature Hotel, it all comes down to how much you pay for your stay. We got a really good price and therefore, couldn't complain on the downsides. Location is really central but the neighborhood is shady with a lot of homeless people (honestly, they are everywhere in SF). There was a strange smell on first floor and in the room which made it unbearable for us to stay in the room that were assigned to us when we checked in just past midnight. The next day, it had somehow improved but I suspect it was only some odor neutralizer they used but hey, it kind of worked so we stayed in this room anyway. Last (second) floor didn't stink as much. At first the bathroom door wouldn't close, the toilet wouldn't flush, the cooling unit (AC) didn't seem to work. They promptly addressed these issues and everything worked ok. The breakfast (bread, oatmeal, yogurt, wrapped danish, fruit juice, coffee, tea) is scarce but does the job. Oh, and the room had the most comfortable bed I slept in in ages.

Like every beautiful city, our neighborhood is not entirely devoid of the homeless problem and as is rightly acknowledged by you in the review, homelessness is quite a prevalent factor in cities like San Francisco. But we assure you that they are harmless and the area is generally safe as it's trusted by a vast majority of travelers. We also apologize for the disconcerting smell that did defile the initial stage of your experience at our property. We'll look into the very source of it and do our best to ensure that this does not bother our guests again. Our staff would be pleased to learn of your high praise! We're still looking into expanding our breakfast selection as it's only been a short time since we resumed the service after a long gap due to the global pandemic. Parking was $30 but first come first serve and parking garage only hold about 10 cars. Breakfast is cereal, some pastries and coffee. No elevator so be prepared to walk all luggage
up the stairs. Overall wasn’t terrible.

The property was very clean. The owners/management team were very friendly! I thought that parking was included in the nightly rate, but it is not. It is an additional $30. The garage is gated overnight. My bed was super comfy and the room is small, but was stocked with a coffee maker, mini fridge, iron, hair dryer, etc. This hotel is a great option for a quick stay for better value than most SF hotels!

My friends coming to visit me at the hotel were concerned about parking. They were happy to find out that Signature has a private garage on premise with overnight parking available. No expensive valet or parking tickets to worry about!

The lobby and guest room was clean and well organized throughout the stay. Tasty breakfast and other guest-friendly amenities made the stay at Signature SF like home for us. Not to mention the central location with everything/everywhere at your fingertips. I definitely recommend this hotel and will plan another stay at Signature. Thank you!
