YOTEL San Francisco is in the heart of the downtown Mid-Market district, flanked by both the financial district and City Hall. The hotel is only a short walk from the famous Powell and Market Cable Car turnaround. Komyuniti is YOTEL's signature "third space" located on the mezzanine level above Mission Control. The multi-purpose area is a co-working space with device charging stations where you can hang out and recharge, informal meeting space, and private 'phone booths' for conference calls. Smartly designed to maximise available space, our rooms feature the award-winning signature YOTEL SmartBedTM, which glides from a sofa to a fully flat bed at the touch of a button. Every detail of all our rooms has been carefully considered, from the desk and work lamp to the adjustable mood lighting and refreshing rain shower.

YOTEL San Francisco garners praise for its friendly and attentive staff, who ensure a secure environment around the clock. While its central location and modern amenities like a gym and luggage storage are appreciated, opinions on value diverge with some guests finding prices reasonable and others frustrated by unexpected fees.
The hotel's cleanliness and contemporary design receive commendations, though the vibrant atmosphere is dampened for some by the noisy surroundings. Rooms are noted for their cleanliness and modern tech, but their size and privacy levels receive mixed reviews.

Detailed Reviews
Yotel San Francisco has to be one of the best hotels I have stayed in ever. From check in to check out the hotel staff could not have been more welcoming and helpful with requests and questions, the check in process was easy and fantastically designed.
The room was fabulous and well appointed for the short stay with a great view on to Market Street and an extremely comfy bed and nice pillows. The facilities were spotless and free tea/coffee was readily available in the lounge as was ice and water on each floor for beverages.
Would like to also mention how fantastic the staff are at this hotel, Alex at Senior Mission Control Manager went above and beyond when I had to check out early and was fantastic with his service provided.
This hotel is a must visit when planning a trip to San Francisco, highly recommend!

This motel is fun and definitely an easy place for younger crowd/ couples/ people who don’t mind that there’s no door separating bathroom. It’s super clean, but for us they changed the room we had booked and there was an extra $30 fee to pay for “facilities” which we didn’t know about until we checked in on these tablets that took incredibly long and malfunctioned along our check in process. Overall, the place was good. Maybe like a very upscale hostel

I don't post reviews often but I was very pleasantly surprised by Yotel. I was in San Francisco for a conference and while all of my coworkers were complaining about their lodgings, all I could do was say how impressed I was. The facilities are clean and modern, sound proofing was excellent, and the bed was very comfortable. Soem complain there isn't a separate room for the the bathroom but the toilet and shower both had their own doors in my room.
From a front of house perspective, I will say that Royce is one of the best people that I have interacted with at a hotel. Friendly, professional, and knows his craft. I can't give him enough kudos on his approach to his work.

Hi, What wonderful feedback! First, allow us to thank you for trusting YOTEL with your care during your conference-going experience. We work hard to be a cut above the rest and your comments make it clear we achieved that end. Thank you for noting specifically how much Royce’s professionalism added to your visit. He is a stand-out member of our all-star team that will be glad to hear your positive remarks. It would mean a tremendous amount to one day share our unique property with you again. To that end, we hope you find yourself back in San Francisco soon. Cheers, The YOTEL Crew

The redeeming feature of the stay is that the hotel and room had a nice minimal feel to it and was exceptionally clean. However, for the price you pay to stay here, I would expect more than just a clean room. The room is quite small. My girlfriend and I are small people and we packed very lightly. Having two bodies and two backpacks in the room felt cramped. The toilet provided no privacy as it was out in the open. A sign on the mirror wrote "for your privacy, please close the windows." This meaning, if you left the window open there was a full view of you using the toilet or getting out of the shower from the other hotels. Outside the hotel, it is located in a great location near popular sights, but plenty of homeless make it feel unsafe walking anywhere. The closest parking garage is also pricey and is still a few blocks away.
The towel warmer and nice staff were probably the only good things about the hotel as it was when we stayed.

Hello Carlos, We work hard to be forthcoming about our hotel’s efficient take on hospitality and apologize if you were caught off guard by your cabin’s size despite those efforts. Please know that we are proud to offer several larger units to guests that prefer spaces sized in a way that is more reminiscent of traditional hotels. To that end, we welcome you to explore our premium cabins and suites online before making your next booking as we think they might better accommodate your tastes. We hope you will give us the opportunity to treat you to a better stay upon your return to San Francisco. Cheers, The YOTEL Crew

In a few words - Don't do this to yourself. Especially if you are a business traveler. You will regret it. My first room was tiny (walking into the bathroom) only to be offered another room if I was willing to pay more money. First room also had steep stairs leading to a lofted double bed - ceiling 3 feet above it. Staff was unwilling to help. Poorly trained. Just don't do it.

Nothing prepared me for this experience. I stayed during the week of JP Morgan conference for $740 per night. The room was tiny. A toilet, a shower and a bed. Imagine putting a bed in a bathroom. It felt like sleeping in a jail cell, especially starring at a concrete ceilingg. No closet or drawer, no chair, barely some space to stand. Definitely not for a sharing since you can’t go to the bathroom.
I was offered a vertical room which was not much better since you sleep in a tiny space above the shower.
The room was very clean and the staff very nice. They offered a refund if I didn’t want to stay but there was nothing else available in the city center on a short notice.
Overall, one of my worst experiences. I am very surprised by the positive review. It might be worth it if you save significantly relative to the area. Otherwise, I can’t imagine anyone enjoying sleeping in a bathroom.
The image is panoramic and is a bit misleading. It is a single square room. It was difficult to take a picture. The 2nd picture is the concrete ceiling above the bed.

Hello, Our team appreciates you choosing to join us during your conference experience and thanks you for your feedback. We understand that our hotel’s take on hospitality is unique in comparison to what you might find at more traditional establishments. We work hard to communicate what makes us different online in an effort to ensure our guests know what they are getting. Please accept our apologies if, despite those efforts, you were caught off guard. As you noted, we did our best to present you with alternate options but room inventory across the city was limited. For future reference, our hotel does offer several spacious suites which we think would better support your tastes. We welcome you to explore them should you do us the honor of joining us in the future. Take Care, The YOTEL Crew

We have stayed at other Yotels and have always enjoyed them. If you aren’t familiar with them be aware the rooms are smaller but they do utilise all the space. We were staying for longer so upgraded to a corner room which was larger so if space concerns you I’d definitely recommend to upgrade. The rooms really do have everything you need and are clean and comfortable. My only criticism would probably be there being no fridge in the room but there is a free ice and water machine outside the lifts so this helped.
The main consideration when booking this hotel is the location. Firstly I’d say I’ve never felt more safe when inside a hotel. 24 hours a day you need your room key just to access the building and there is always security in the lobby too. The main issue is outside the hotel. We were aware of the issue of homeless people prior to our visit but it wasn’t really what we expected. There are large groups of people at all times of the day, it’s almost like a community. Now I will say that at no point did anybody bother us at all, and we walked around at all times of the day. You will however see very apparent drug use, the whole area can be intimidating if you aren’t used to that type of environment. In all areas of San Francisco this is evident, not just outside this hotel so no matter where you will stay you’ll experience this but it’s definitely more apparent in this area.
In terms of getting around the location is great, walking distance to some attractions, the train to the airport is just outside the door and the trams/underground really accessible.

The hotel is close to the theater, within walking distance. Perfect for our needs to see the show at the Orpheum. Located next to BART station for easy transport to airport or East Bay. The staff was helpful in finding a restaurant for dinner, also located within walking distance. This was important because we did not have a car with us..

CONS: The location of the hotel was really sketchy - across the street from a row of homeless and a ton of them would congregate at night especially. If you got back late at night, you had to make sure you were getting off a bus/car/train close to the hotel... you didn't want to be out on the street in the daytime but even moreso at night. One thing that didn't seem to work was the thermostat. Every once in a while a cold fan would start running even though we didn't have it on. Couldn't figure out how to fix that, and figured it was just part of the hotel's ventilation itself.
PROS: Check in was easy, staff were friendly. Price ended up being less than what I booked online, so that was a nice surprise (about $50 less). I stayed with my boyfriend and the rooms were small but they were just what we needed. Space was clean and tidy, room had a heated towel bar and the bed could be moved upright or laid down. Having an ice/water machine on each floor was a bonus and was nice because I didn't have to worry about drinking tap water or going to buy a bottle of water, and could just refill my reusable one. TV was a smart TV, took a bit of maneuvering but it had chromecast so you could watch anything from your phone.
Other notes: No parking available.

Thank you for staying with us at the YOTEL San Francisco. I am pleased to hear that you had an enjoyable stay making use of our amenities and clean facilities. Our location is prime during the day and does in fact become more of a challenging area during the night, which is why we focus on maintaining security on premise 24/7 to ensure the safety of our guests and staff. Unfortunately our hotel does not offer on site parking however the garage we recommend is walking distance away located at 33 8th Street. We hope to see you again!

I found this hotel through my British Airways booking. It’s right by the Market Street BART station which was very handy! The hotel is very unique and cleverly designed throughout, from the lobby, the communal areas to the rooms themselves. They’ve utilised the space well. I had a Sky Cabin and couldn’t fault it. Plenty of hot water, brilliant lighting (which is rare). They even crammed in an ironing board and safe. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The lobby area was well presented too. I’d definitely recommend this hotel.
