This is my go-to escape from the daily grind when I need a break from my routine life in San Francisco. The rooms are very quiet with a spacious feeling because of the unusually high ceilings. If you have access to the American Express Fine Hotels and Resorts program, this hotel is an easy choice to make. It's beautiful, classy, swimming pool is great as well as the dining, both in the atrium and the bar. Scott at the front desk deserves special mention. I stay here regularly, but Scott remembers my name, remembers my preferences, and really understands how to make people feel special. It's mainly because of this kind of service that I constantly promote this hotel to friends, family and coworkers when they're in town.

We stayed here for a staycation within the Bay Area and had a great time! I have visited the hotel for conferences and events before and always enjoyed its character. It was fun to stay and enjoy the property’s amenities and location this time. Check in and out were smooth, as was valet. The lobby, atrium and public areas have a lot of historical character. Brunch in garden court makes for a beautiful setting, food is good too. Make sure you have reservations. The location is great for walking to Embarcadero and visiting the Ferry Building. We enjoyed the pool twice and guests were staying respectfully distanced during the pandemic. It was very enjoyable the first visit. However. The second visit, there was a group of teen girls who were screaming and splashing around very loudly and obnoxiously. The voices echoed and was very disruptive. Their parental guardians left them there, disturbing all other guests at the pool. We left because of their noise level and behavior. This was the only flaw in our otherwise enjoyable visit.

Price- for two nights, I paid $675.70 for a standard King and I think this is considered a good deal. ($300 a night + the lovely fees and taxes.) I was okay paying this amount, because I was anticipating more of a luxury experience. Location: in the financial district. Plenty of restaurants and shops nearby. Best part was the BART is a two minute walk from here and then a straight shot to the airport (and other places, of course). However, I did find myself leaving this area of San Francisco more often than not, which is a big reason I’ll stay elsewhere next time. Check in- very easy and very friendly service Pool/ gym area- the lady handing out towels was one of the nicest people I’ve ever met. 5 stars for her. Really awesome to enjoy the indoor pool and especially the jacuzzi. Beautiful area and nice perk. The gym was good enough. Room- stayed in a standard room. Really nice, but nothing too memorable. Felt like a typical hotel room with maybe a slightly more elegant touch with moulding and decor. The bathroom was very tiny. Like difficult to get inside and then close the door. It was nice and clean, just very small. Toilets were heated with a bidet. That’s the main standout luxury element of the rooms. No view either- Just the buildings. Lobby- well, stunning. The picture that captures your attention and aides in your desire to stay at this hotel doesn’t fall short, but it’s not enough for me to return. Breakfast area- the lobby is split in half. Front area for hotel guests to lounge/ work and the back is the restaurant. While waiting for my boyfriend to return, I wanted a coffee. I was told the only way to get a coffee was to get a table, but they wouldn’t let me because I didn’t have my vax card on me (in my phone and my boyfriend had my purse). So therefore no coffee. But I was able to sit on the front side of the lobby (just a few feet from the tables) while I waited for him. The ladies talked at the host stand and I just found it odd that I couldn’t grab a coffee to go and charge to my room. That’s a lot of money a night to not get a coffee. I understand and respect the rules, but still feel I should have been accommodated. Final thoughts- yes, the hotel is beautiful, but if you’re not getting an upgraded room, it’s not worth it. Yes, the lobby is stunning, but if you’re in San Francisco for vacation, then chances are you won’t spend a lot of time there. If you have no problem spending that kind of money or you find a good deal (and it’s in the area you want to spend time in) then I think you’ll have a great stay here. But if you’re splurging for a luxury experiences, this place might fall short. 4 stars because I can appreciate what this hotel has to offer to the right guests and it meets my most important requirements- Safe & clean.

It's always great to stay at a nice hotel but get the benefit of having great service to kick off your check-in. Scott at the front desk walked me through every last detail of what was available during our stay and was a great pleasure to deal with. Getting off on the right foot made everything else seem like icing on the cake. Spend as much time in the atrium as you can when you're there - it's beautiful.

Stayed over the busy Christmas week. Arrived at the hotel around 4pm and the front was busy. Got out of our Uber and were asked if we needed help with luggage which was a nice touch. Looked like several people drove as the valet was quite busy. Was directed to the front desk which had 3 people working and a line of about 4 so we did not wait long. My SNA did not clear (Titanium member) which was a bummer but did get King Deluxe Room which was huge on the 8th floor. Was warned that breakfast required reservations but I had the concierge book for me every morning already. The Marriott breakfast benefit was a credit for each morning. Elevator requires key card. Room had 2 large windows with a view of Market Street. The room was very spacious, but a smallish bathroom considering the size of the room. Bathtub with bidet. Housekeeping left us 2 conditioners and no shampoo which they fixed the next day after we left a note. Housekeeping came every morning and they were very friendly. Bed was very comfortable, plugs by the bed, plenty of water bottles, empty fridge and electronic safe. Small desk. No complaints about the room.
