Whaler’s Cove is in such a prime location it is hard to beat for a great stay on Kauai. What’s really great though, is the management and staff capitalize on the location, keeping the gardens lush and inviting. The pool is a dream! We’ve stayed hear annually for more than a decade and are always happy with our stay. What a wonderful thing to wake up to the sound of the ocean each day. Sunsets are on prime display from the property. The best!!
We saw other 'swanky' places on Kauai, but none had the proximity to the ocean along with huge balconies for viewing the sunsets. In fact, we spent much of our time enjoying the views from our balcony, including eating three meals a day out there. Sometimes we saw surfers and divers. The first day, we spotted whales. Later, dolphins. We felt like Walers Cove was ALL OURS, because it's been built in a way that allows for plenty of privacy. The evening 'star show' was incredible since there's no light pollution. Couldn't have been better.
This is my second time to stay at Whaler's Cove Resort. The first was 1993. I expected to return sooner, but life happens. I fell in love with the resort then and it lived up to my memories on this return trip. We stayed in a second story, 2 bed 2 bath Ocean view condo. It was very nice with great amenities. The highlight was the view off the lanai, which was beyond amazing. The grounds were beautifully kept. The management was pleasant and helpful. I have nothing but good things to say. It was hard to get dinner reservations, even though I started looking for them 3 weeks before the trip. That turned out okay, as we got takeout and ate on the lanai about half the time. That was very nice and a better view than almost any of the restaurants had.
Unless you want to be crammed in with wall-to-wall development on Kauai's South Shore, this should be your lodging selection. Upscale 2BD ocean front condos just North of Koloa Landing. And reasonably priced compared to the whacky pricing everywhere else (if you book directly from the on site management company). Within walking distance of the Kukuila Shopping Center and Beach House Restaurant. Have only experienced true ocean front condo lodging in Hawaii twice and the other was Puamana in Lahaina. Really special. Thank you to Marianne and her staff!
I visited Whalers Cove twice this summer, once in June and then in September. I loved it so much I decided to return! The property is stunning, tucked away in a quiet residential and oceanfront location in Koloa (Poipu area). The condo's are large and beautiful and are oceanfront or have splendid ocean views. These truly are luxury condos. The value you receive by staying at Whaler's Cove far outweighs staying in a small hotel room for the same price at the local oceanfront hotels. The pool area is quiet and empty on most occasions. If you want action and entertainment for yourself or your small children, a hotel might be a better option as this is peaceful, quiet, and non-stimulating, well except for the beautiful ocean views and sounds! The office staff is lovely and helpful and we spoke many times to the grounds crew who maintain the property meticulously. Really, if you are outgoing with the staff, they feel like friends or family. You can walk or drive to Kukui'ula which is an outdoor shopping and eating area where many of the top restaurants are located. Don't be fearful of going to Kauai even though the governor is suggesting to not visit Hawaii. I'm a bit of a rebel and didn't let the "suggestion" from the gov deter me. Once you go through the safe travels process online and arrive in Kauai, it feels mostly normal. It's all the things we are used to on the mainland, wearing masks indoors, distancing, etc. It in no way dampened our enjoyment. You don't need to wear a mask at the beach or outdoors walking or running. Just be sure to make car rental and restaurant reservations in advance. If you can't find a car through a rental car company, use Turo. Go to Kauai and stay at Whaler's Cove, you will be thrilled!…
