This was one of the more affordable accommodations on Kauai at $200/night. Room was clean, beds comfortable, hot shower and central to locations we wanted to visit. Downside: it is older and small. The window air conditioner sounds like a plane taking off, but glad we had ac. I wore earplugs and ac noise was tolerable.

We stayed here 2 nights and had a wonderful experience. The staff are amazing and Ron, the general manager, is a true gem. If you get a chance, ask for Ron to “ talk story” with you. You can find out the history and legends of Kaua’i along with seeing many interesting artifacts. You will also hear about many fascinating sites to visit during your stay. We learned so much about Kaua’i and the Hawaiian islands. Ron was entertaining and very knowledgeable and kept us engaged and interested. Hotel room is vintage, is very clean and has everything you need. We were able to drop our suitcase off early and explore the island the day we arrived. Lots of people here from different European countries during our stay. Great food options a couple blocks away and the brewery even has 4 ounce sample sizes so you can try several of their different beers in one sitting. Thanks Ron for imparting some of your knowledge to us. We loved our stay and hope to be back again. Mahalo!

The room was comfortable and there’s plenty of hot water. Glad we got a bigger room this time as the small one we went to years back we could hardly move around in. Nice to have a fridge, hot plate and microwave. So loved the free history presentation of Kauai offered by Ron the hotel manager. Be sure to meet the hotel kitty “Mango” he is loving and adorable.

Aloha jgrogan from Colorado! Quaint, charming and cozy, that describes our little property here in Lihue, 5 minutes away from the airport. Did we mention convenient? Also, we offer different types of accommodations from Studios, units with kitchenettes, full kitchens to 2 bedroom units with living room and full kitchens. One unique aspect is that we share the history and culture of the islands to those who are interested at no charge. Many of our guest enjoy this sharing because it brings the island to life while visiting the various scenic sites that the Beautiful Garden Island has to offer. Again, Mahalo for staying with us and look forward to your third visit to the Kauai Palms Hotel!!

My stay here was wonderful. A comfy bed, TV, fridge, and clean linens/towels were provided along with free WiFi and fresh coffee each morning. It's not a fancy chain hotel, so if that's what you're wanting, then this review is not for you. What this hotel lacks in luxury, it makes up for in spirit, and if you're looking for a place rich in culture to stay, then look no further. Chickens walk about the property. The hotel cat Mango may come sit on your lap or beside you while you sit in the lobby. Palm trees and a gorgeous view of the mountain surround this quaint little hotel. But the highlight of the stay has to be the "talk session" that the general manager Ron does free of charge anytime you have a couple hours to spare. I say hours because once he starts delving into Kauai's rich history, all you will want to do is listen for more. He is so knowledgeable about the history, and he also has curated a small but impressive collection of weapons, tools, hooks, and other artifacts with information that can be found in the lobby to look at while you sip your coffee. If you stick around long enough for him to go through his binder of information, he will unlock the case of artifacts and let you touch or hold them while he tells you more about them. This experience was one I was not prepared for, but that I am eternally grateful was provided. Ron is very generous and will not take money for his talks, but he just wants people to learn more about the island and spread the culture and history they have learned from him. I hope this review helps you decide where to stay. I have no regrets choosing this hotel, and when I come back to Kauai, I will surely stay here again! Aloha!

Aloha Ana! Thank you so very much for the wonderful reviewl. As you mentioned, we are a quaint property that offers comfortable and clean accommodations on the Beautiful Garden Island known as Kauai. We are vintage and offer reasonable rates in comparison to our competition. We share the history and culture of the island with our visitors so that places visited come alive and your island visit becomes more relevant. Historically, we were a "oral" tradition until the early 1800's, when the Missionaries introduced the alphabet. We are now utilizing written with orad, to share the rich heritage of the islands.....and it is free. Again, thank you for visiting and we look forward to your next stay at the Kauai Palms Hotel. Mahalo!

Ok, I booked this hotel and then noticed all of the negative reviews. I was a little nervous as I showed up and realized it's in a residential area. (Its not the Hilton or some fancy resort of that is what you are looking for) However, I have no idea why there are so many negative reviews! This place was great! I got a single room (rm 17) it had a gigantic king size bed, plenty of room, it was super clean, with a refrigerator and microwave. The staff was very friendly and provided great service. I had a flight issue and ended up needing to check in early. They did everything they could to accommodate and get me in as early as possible. I enjoyed my stay and will definitely be staying again in the future. And I highly recommend ignoring all the mediocre/negative reviews, and giving them a stay. Very easy access to the airport, food, coffee, gas and groceries. So, definitely check them out! Thanks a bunch, Kauai palms!

Aloha Jessica and Mahalo for your review! We do stress cleanliness for Housekeeping and customer service for the Front Desk, for these are very important tenets in the hospitality industry. We are a vintage property and do our utmost to provide reasonable rates in comparison to our competition. Rates on the whole are a little higher on Kauai versus the other islands, as we are known as the Beautiful Garden Island. Yes, we are centrally located in Lihue, midpoint between Kalalau and Waimea Canyon and approximately 5 minutes from Lihue Airport. Being in LIhue, there are a number of reasonable eating places which we recommend....eat Local. Thank you for staying with us and we would look forward to your next visit!! Mahalo!

Aloha Ontario Traveler from the Beautiful Garden Island! The room you booked without A/C is our least expensive room at $165.00 per night. With taxes, it is about $200.00 per night and in comparison to other hotels, we are one of the most reasonable. Unfortunately, accommodations on Kauai are more expensive in comparison to other islands. The exchange rate from Canadian to US dollars did not help the situation. For future reference, the majority of rooms have air conditioning, which most visitors opt for since we are in tropical paradise. Upon your next visit, we would be glad to place you in a room with a/c. For those who would like to prepare meals, we have rooms with kitchenettes and full kitchens available. Again, thank you for staying with us and I would look forward to assisting you securing the right accommodations on your next visit to the Beautiful Garden Island. Mahalo!

It's an extremely charming little hotel. Felt like a true escape from the bustle of city life, and didn't have the industrial feel you often get from big Sheratons/Hiltons/etc. Very helpful staff, excellent location (to the airport, beach, restaurants). Clean, decent-sized room, A/C worked like a charm. Will 100% stay here again if/when we come back to Kauai.

Kauai Palms is a mom & pop hotel in Lihue. We stayed for two nights at the end of our week long visit to Kauai. Our room was clean and well maintained. The ac worked well and there was a small refrigerator. We did not have much space but had no need to spread out as we basically just slept at the hotel. The shower did have good water pressure and the towels were nice and soft. Check out and check in were easy and communication was very good. There’s a nice coffee truck around the corner and we heard good things about the Saimin restaurant and Kauai Brewing Company, both close by.

We needed an airport hotel for an early flight out the next day. This place sounded great, but was not what we expected. The room was shabby, needing repairs. The shower drain apparatus was loose. There was dirt in the corners of the bathroom. The office has limited hours, closing at 8 pm. No airport shuttle. No alarm clock for that early flight. The place is a motel with exterior doors. In fairness, the bed linens were clean, the bed comfortable, and the Wi-Fi worked. There is a Chinese restaurant within walking distance.

Aloha Charlotte, it was great to hear that "the bed linens were clean, the bed comfortable and the WIFI worked." That you enjoyed one of the dining places that are in close proximity of the property. In regards to the drain cover being loose dirt in the corner, we met with the Housekeeping Manager to walk thru the unit for we pride ourselves in offering clean accommodations. On our website, we post our office hours as 8am to 8pm and we do not mention shuttle service. Our room pricing is reflective of this, for we consider our room cost very reasonable in comparison to surrounding properties. We do apologize that we did not fulfill your expectations and assure you that in regards to the room, we will provide clean accommodations. Please contact me, and I will personally assist you on your next visit. Mahalo, Ron
