We knew that we had found a special place to stay when we first arrived, with a warm and gracious welcome left for us by the staff. Ohana House is well-furnished (recreational equipment available! great kitchen that in many ways is better furnished than our own!). The central location worked well for us, as it is a short drive to anywhere on the island and close to a number of great restaurants. A nice beach park is almost directly across the road, and we walked to it almost every day of our monthlong stay. The photos don't do the house justice, as it feels larger than I expected. We are definitely hoping to return.
Fern grotto was our ideal get away on Kauai! From the moment we arrived we fell in love! Every amenity you could think of was there for us, and Paul was the best host we could’ve ever asked for, so kind and friendly always greeting us and asking us about our stay. We especially loved access to the kayaks and beach going amenities! Would easily come back just to stay here again it is absolutely wonderful!
This collection of quiet cottages located riverside near kapa'a makes for a great retreat. The cottage was generously appointed for all my needs and extremely comfortable. The grounds are well kept and there are bikes and kayaks available. Highly recommended !
This is an immaculate property. The buildings are older but have been updated quite a bit inside. We stayed in Coco B, which was immaculate inside. Paul, the proprietor, goes out of his way to make sure everything on the property is perfect - very responsive and accommodating. We arrived to a few beers, water, and sweets in our fridge and a handwritten note that was customized for us, which was all so unexpected (but made the 22 hours of traveling worth it!). The fact that this property provides kayaks, SUPs, beaching gear (and I mean ALL beaching gear), and bikes/helmets for complimentary use makes the price well worth it. We were able to bike to breakfast, to a park, and check out some of the local sites on bike, and then used the other complimentary items to snorkel and hit the beach. We kayaked the river and hiked to secret falls and it was so nice to literally enter/exit the river right on property (we were exhausted). There are also plenty of sitting areas throughout the property, so even if the place is fully booked, it never feels crowded. During our trip to Kauai, we stayed here and at a fancy (and more expensive) resort. Fern Grotto Inn was hands down nicer and closer to the things we wanted to do, even if it didn't have the ocean view. We wished we'd just stayed put and are already talking about when we can make it back. …
I loved the Fern Grotto Inn. It was perfect and so much better than a resort. The room had so many thoughtful touches; i felt very welcome. I took the kayak up the river- truly stunning views. So much fun! I'd stay there again in a heartbeat.
