My partner and I stayed at Holualoa Inn for our honeymoon, and it truly exceeded all our expectations. From the moment we arrived, we felt completely at peace and welcomed. The inn itself is nestled in a stunning location, surrounded by lush greenery and panoramic views of the ocean—it felt like a private paradise.

Our room was beautifully designed with attention to every detail, blending luxury with a cozy island charm. We especially loved the huge windows that let in so much natural light and allowed us to wake up to breathtaking views every morning. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and the little touches like fresh flowers and local coffee made us feel spoiled.

The property is absolutely gorgeous. We spent our days exploring the gardens, lounging by the pool, and soaking in the hot tub at sunset. There’s a sense of serenity everywhere you go. The breakfast each morning was incredible—everything was fresh, local, and prepared with care and with the worlds famous KONA coffee!

The staff were kind, attentive, and went out of their way to make our stay special. They gave us wonderful recommendations for nearby beaches and restaurants.

Holualoa Inn was the perfect balance of relaxation and adventure. Its location made it easy to explore Kona and the Big Island, but we honestly loved coming back to the peace and quiet of the inn at the end of the day.

This is one of the best places we've ever stayed at. The Lodge is so peaceful and tranquil, with gorgeous lush grounds and stunning views. The staff are so so helpful, welcoming and friendly. The breakfasts were out of this world and very vegetarian friendly for us - fresh fruit from the Lodge followed by something else delicious like French toast, huevos rancheros, crepes. They also serve coffee from the farm.
We brought our 8 month old and were provided with a pack n play (for a charge) and high chair.
Coffee and tea is available throughout the day, and you're given a little home baked afternoon tea treat daily too!
There is a kitchen with a fridge, blender, microwave, cutlery, glasses etc.
There is a non heated pool, hot tub, plenty of sun loungers, and lots of comfy seating inside.
The sunsets are out of this world.
Nearby there is a cafe and kitchen/bar, and lots of art galleries and boutiques.
You're a 15 minute drive from kona, 30 from the airport.
The rooms were spacious and you're provided with filtered water daily.
They will provide recommendations for itineraries too.
We will treasure our memories here and hope to be back.
Cannot recommend this place enough! Mahalo.

The Holualoa Inn is inspirational for its location, amenities, and service. It is now our new favorite place to stay on the Big Island of Hawaii.

You will find this small Inn about 1400 ft in elevation above the city of Kailua-Kona, far from the beach, the large hotels and condos on Ali'i drive. plus the hordes of tourists and cruise ships in downtown Kailua. What you will find are awesome views, impeccably landscaped grounds, comfortable rooms, and a gracious and helpful staff.

We rented the one-bedroom cottage that was separate from the main building that was like a slice of island life from a dream. It came with a complete kitchen including a French press, coffee grinder, and a generous supply of whole bean coffee from the estate. The bathroom is small, but enough for two people to share. We especially appreciated watching the sunset on the deck in the oversized chairs.

You will hear the sounds of the invasive coqui frogs starting at sunset and ending around 2am. You will either enjoy or hate these tiny but intensely loud creatures. Ear plugs are provided in the room.

I can't thank the staff enough for cooking a special breakfast every morning that conformed to my diet. My wife said the fresh local tropical fruit was delicious, but it is off-limits for me.

Highly recommend. But be sure you get a rental car that has enough horsepower to climb the steep roads that bring you to this retreat.

Aloha Gerald and thank you so much for taking the time to write this thoughtful review. Is was our pleasure to host you and your wife for your mid-winter getaway and is rewarding to know we are now your new favorite place here on the Big Island! Our Darrell Hill Cottage is ideal as guests have full access to the Inn and amenities, but get to return "home" to a private oasis, fully stocked and comfortable. Much mahalo as well for raving out our delicious and healthy breakfasts. We take pride in our chefs' abilities to accommodate all dietary requirements, and I will be sure they know how much you appreciated the care they took. We hope to welcome you home again in the future, and we'll be sure to keep a place for you at our breakfast table. A hui hou kakou, Kathryn and your Holualoa Inn Ohana

Gorgeous setting. Meticulous gardens full of exotic, local flora. Set 1400 ft up the side of a mountain, which allows for spectacular views of the ocean and town below. This estate has a pool, hot tub, washer/dryer, significant and meaningful art installations, free parking, shared refrigerator (designated sections), TV room, and about 10 guest rooms (most at the main building - the inn). Daily breakfast prepared by a chef with locally grown ingredients exceeds expectations of a typical B&B. Always delicious and unexpected delights.

Usually a nice breeze, cooler temps at night (daytime is still 85+ while we were here - wished for A/C a couple times). Used pool to cool off. Typically rains around 3-4pm daily. Fall asleep with the windows open to the sounds of nature and wildlife (some invasive frogs are loud!). Amazing sunsets. Well appointed rooms, comfortable beds, luxurious sheets (you’ll want to buy), and warm afternoon cookies. Beach chairs, snorkeling gear and beach towels available at no charge.

Staff is very friendly and helpful. Great recommendations for things to do and places to eat. Available when needed but not over bearing. 15 min to most places downtown. Windy roads which get a little tricky in the rain and at night.

Great for anyone seeking solitude and luxury without the pretense. Recommend 2nd floor facing ocean for breeze, view, and minimizing sounds of other guests.

We appreciate your kind words about the friendly and helpful customer service you received, your comfortable room, and our beautiful property. A lot of love and work goes into maintaining our property and providing the best possible experience for our guests. It's so rewarding to know when we hit the mark! As a bed and breakfast, it's our pleasure to provide luxuriously comfortable beds and delicious breakfasts. We're glad you enjoyed our variety of dishes showcasing local ingredients like our lilikoi French toast, banana pancakes or tropical huevos rancheros. We are proud to have earned your recommendation and hope to host you again on your next visit to the Big Island. Until then, aloha and a hui hou!

The Holualoa Inn check all the boxes my wife and I were looking for in a relaxing five night vacation. The Inn is a 30 acre property, extremely quiet and isolated a few thousand feet on a mountain overlooking the Kona Coast. There aren't that many rooms and while we were there it was primarily filled with adult couples. Kona coffee and fruit trees are located all around the property and we were encouraged to eat any of the ripe fruit. The staff was outstanding!!! Everyone was very friendly, helpful and went out of their way to make sure everything during our stay was absolutely perfect. The food was exceptional-breakfasts were all great along with the special lunch that was prepared for us after a private yoga session. We asked them to make us sack lunches a couple of days for our excursions and they were fantastic! (the veggie wrap was terrific). All in all my wife and I found The Holualoa Inn to be a perfect place for a relaxing stay.

Wow, I knew from looking at the pictures of this B&B that it was going to be lovely but nothing compares to actually arriving there. The innkeepers were all so kind and accommodating. I don't think I've ever felt more welcomed at a hotel.

We asked if we could drop our luggage off at the desk early on our check in date as we were going to volcanoes national park and they generously and kindly accepted our request and even moved our luggage into our room prior to our late arrival. We arrived back at the inn late that evening and saw the most beautiful starry sky, outlook over Kona, and the ocean in the background. It was glorious. The view from the inn night and day is indescribable. The inn is so quiet and calm at night I had the best night's sleep ever! That being said, I would not recommend children or loud partiers to this inn. It is purely about relaxation and recuperation and everyone is mostly quiet and respectful.

The beds are so comfortable, I'm still missing the amazing sleep I had while there. Our room had a king sized bed a tub/shower, and a outdoor private hot tub which still provided great views overlooking kona and the ocean. Our room was called the coffee cherry room.

The breakfasts every morning were incredible! Started the day off with some delicious freshly ground and brewed Kona coffee grown on the plantation, followed by the freshest orange juice I've ever tasted and a yummy fresh fruit plate, all grown on the plantation or gathered from local farms. The breakfasts changed every day, but they were all incredible, healthy, and unique.

For lunch & dinner the innkeepers can give you recommendations in Kona which is about a 15-20 minute from the inn. We rented a car, but we also Uber-ed one night and found it easy to get an Uber there and back. There are also some small snack shops and stores within walking distance of the inn.

We were able and encouraged to explore the entire place. We were even allowed to take and eat fruits that we found. I love to do yoga and the inn supplied yoga matts as well as beach towels and beach supplies.

There are so many positive things about this inn, I think I could write a whole book. I am so thankful we got to spend a portion of our honeymoon and the only con about this place is that we couldn't stay longer! We will definitely return in the future.

Mahalo nui loa for choosing Holualoa Inn for your Big Island honeymoon celebration and for posting this beautifully written rave review! Holualoa Inn was created for relaxation and romance and we are delighted you had the opportunity to indulge in both! The night sky here at 1,400 feet above sea level is indeed a marvel - we even have a telescope for guest use - and we do encourage our guests to explore our 30 acres filled with beautiful tropical fruits and flora and, of course, our 5,300 Kona coffee trees. We wish you all the best for a wonderful first year of marriage and hope to welcome you home to Holualoa Inn again in the future. Ho'okahikahi ke aloha, Kathryn and your Holualoa Inn Ohana

My husband and I stayed here for six nights and were so sad it wasn’t longer! The grounds are just breathtaking and very well kept, breakfast is incredibly delicious (and you get that Kona coffee!), innkeepers are all so friendly and helpful, the bed and room was comfy and lastly it was just a peaceful place to be! We felt very at peace during our stay and cannot wait to go back! If you are looking for a place to go that is away from the resorts this is it. It’s also magically 15 minutes away from just about everything. Hot tip - get barbecue from the food truck up the street - so good!
