This place is located on a really beautiful spot where you just can sit on the veranda, relax, enjoy the loving breakfast (which Michael made) with a view over the coast and sea. Having a shower in the lava-shower was great! The shared bathroom is comfortable and easy to use.

I really can't add much to the other wonderful reviews posted here. Everything you read about the views, the beauty of the place, the comfort, the great breakfasts, and so on, is absolutely true. We have stayed here many times and are always looking for a way to return. Best of

We had only one night after a business conference at Waikaloa. The location is quiet, but with amazing views. We were greeted and shown around briefly but thoroughly. The host offered us a dessert and juice out on the porch, which we shared with beautiful geckos. Our room

This was our second stay at this property and I’m a bit horrified that I didn’t take the time to review after our first stay, as it is what made us return. We spent a week on the Big Island 5 years ago and a stay here was our most memorable part of the trip. When returning to

Wow. My significant other booked Ka'awa Loa without my input (I usually have to vet the accommodations beforehand - LOL), and he did really well! This place is really something special - unlike any other place you will ever stay. It is remote, secluded and gorgeously

The guys that run the place treat you like house guests. There is food out to choose from some hot some cold and they make eggs to order. They leave cake or biscuits usually homemade out in the kitchen all day to help yourself and make drinks.

We stayed in the large suite when we were there last week. If you stay in the other rooms in the main plantation house you will have to take a shower in the very nice private showers in the backyard; they provide towels and high quality bathrobes. I'm not sure whether these standard rooms include an ensuite toilet & sink or if those are shared. Check with the owners at 808-323-2686. Phoning is the best way since they don't always respond within 24 hours to emails. Also, FYI, we spoke to a number of couples who were staying in the regular rooms when we were there and all seemed quite satisfied with the accommodations. This is a great place to stay.

Aloha the cottage has screens on the ocean side for airflow and keep it cool & dry, glass on mountain side to keep it warmer at night which cools when air flows from Mauna Loa
