My boyfriend and I stayed here for three nights in January and it was truly an unforgettable experience. Svetlana and Lee are true artists with what they have done to this place, everything about it is special from the way they treat guests, to the breakfasts, to the impeccable way the property and rooms are organized. If you’re looking for a real Hawaii experience and for something with a bit of personality mixed with luxury, this is the place to stay. Their warming hospitality and great conversations are unlike you can find anywhere else. We can’t wait to come back!

The view from our room was amazing. It’s a gorgeous home!

The drinking water and fresh fruit is amazing here. They grow most everything possible.

The drive up to the home was hard to endure, as I have a back injury...although beautiful.

There are no locks on any outside door. They leave the community door open that is the entrance all night. Even though it’s very remote location I would have felt better being able to lock the slider door by the side of the bed.

They did one load of laundry for me which I was very grateful for. Two week trip so I was literally out of underwear! You cannot do your own laundry. One load maximum.

The wife makes a beautiful breakfast and it is required that you eat with them at their table with the other guests at a precise time or let them know in advance that you will not be there. We did NOT get offered “to go” food the morning we needed to leave early.

Bring your own coffee or tea as it is not supplied for you. But they do have a community kitchen that has kitchen utensils and a coffee maker and water boiler etc

I made some mistake of leaving wet towels on the floor ? and the wife was very upset at me and yelled at me one night as we came back late. The husband is very kind and tried to compensate for her outburst as he pushed her back in the house and closed the door behind her yapping at me.

They WANT to enter your room every day and check on things.

You must pay attention to all the rules and requests if you want to keep the owners happy.

This place was magical. The farm itself is so full of life of all kinds and obviously lovingly cared for. The room was clean with everything we needed. The owners, Lee and Svetlana, are warm and interesting people to spend time with. We were traveling during covid, and so were the only guests in the house per their choice. We spent good times during breakfasts conversing about everybody's daily plans, weather, volcanoes, recommended island activities, local restaurants, world events, cats, chickens, organic farming, etc. There was also quiet time during breakfasts as we ate the amazingly flavorful, fresh and unique-each-day meals. I don't usually take pictures of my meals and send to people, but I did here.

Lee and Svetlana generously offered all the beach gear we could want, a tour of the farm, useful advice about almost anything when asked and detailed directions to the place (including curves, bumps and dips in the challenging Tobacco road). We love that they have hydro and photovoltaic panels, a water catchment and filtration system and are all organic.

We stayed in the Halawai room and the view (through the super clean window) was just as the pictures show. The linens weren't "perfumed" just freshly clean. The bed was comfortable and the air cool as the little chirping frogs lulled us to sleep.

I can not say enough good things about this B&B!! The view from our room could have been cut from a Travel & Leisure magazine, the memory foam bed was super comfortable, the secluded farm location gave off the most relaxing vibes and the daily breakfast was our favorite meal of the trip. I highly recommend staying here to escape the business of resort hotels without compromising amenities in any way. It is also located near one of the most amazing snorkeling locations in Hawaii! The hosts, Lee and Svetlana were wonderful - provided many recommendations on what to do during our stay. I hope to come back here soon.

Our stay at Aloha guest House was the highlight of our Hawaii trip. Lee and Svetlana are the most gracious and attentive hosts and went above and beyond to make us feel at home. Their home is beautiful and is situated on a lovely fruit plantation at the top of a rural road in Captain Cook. The views of the ocean are spectacular, you will not want to leave your room or the house. The drive up Old Tobacco Road is an adventure best suited for a 4 wheel drive, although we did manage it in a Mini Cooper (not recommended though). You WILL need a car for the time you stay at Aloha Guest House. The rooms have all the amenities you will need to feel comfortable.
There is nothing like starting the day with a scrumptious organic homemade breakfast prepared by Svetlana accompanied by Kona coffee and organic fruit platter from their garden. Definitely ask Lee to give you a tour of their plantation so you can see all the fruit plants and trees. Lee and Svetlana are very knowledgeable of Big Island and helped us plan our itinerary. We stayed for 4 nights, but felt it was not long enough to truly experience the wonders of Aloha and Big Island. We can't wait to plan another trip to Big Island and we will definitely be booking another stay at Aloha Guest House! :)

We had a great time staying at the Aloha Guest House. Everything from booking to arriving and our actual stay was seamless. The room was beyond our expectations, and watching the sunset from the bed was exactly what we wanted on vacation. The location was great to get in and out of Kona for diving and driving less than 10-15 minutes for some great hikes and snorkeling in the area. The breakfast was superb, and you can tell real effort and planning went into it from Svetlana. My only regret is not taking photos of the amazing fresh fruit we had every morning. The best fruit we had between the two islands we visited were all from Lee and Svetlana's garden. Lee and Svetlana join you for breakfast, allowing you to ask any questions or get tips on activities to do during your stay. Would definitely stay here again on our next visit to the Kona area.

My partner and I stayed at Aloha Guest House for a week this past March and could not have been happier with this decision. Lee and Svetlana were wonderful hosts and the spot was absolutely beautiful and relaxing. Do not be dissuaded by the road or the distance off the beaten path -- that was one of the best parts of this spot! We were away from everything with incredible views of the ocean. From our bedroom we could watch the ocean, the sunset, and at night see all the stars in the sky. Incredible! The only sound you hear is the sound of tropical birds chirping and the frogs at night. You look out and there's not another building or human in sight.

As foodies, one of the most special aspects of our stay here was the location on an organic fruit farm that Lee and Svetlana have beautifully manicured and use to create their amazing breakfasts each morning. Every morning we would get an incredible assortment of fruit, many of which we had never had before and some of which are only grown on Hawaii. This would be served alongside a fantastic creation by Svetlana with everything totally homemade and sourced from their farm. Best breakfasts ever!! (I can also attest that after a week of being there, no breakfast was repeated AND, even if they had been, I would have been excited to eat it again!)

Lee and Svetlana are also kind, generous and did everything they could to make our stay perfect. Our family was staying nearby and Lee offered to take all of us on a tour of their fruit farm. Two hours learning about everything they grow and the stories of turning what was a field into a farm.

I have already recommended friends and family stay in this spot if they ever go to Hawaii. And I highly recommend you stay here too! I sincerely hope to be back one day!

(Also they have snorkel gear, coolers, boogie boards, chairs and anything else you could need for the beach! A major plus!)

We were in the Kohala room, and we looked down 1500 feet and three miles to the seacoast, not a building or a human being in sight. The sun set, and the sliver of new moon rose, through our huge picture windows, and the sunshine next morning crept in from the ocean and up the lower elevations. We could see the coast line, with the Pu'uhonua o Honaunau National Historical Park at the edge of the Ocean. What a view from our bed!
Lee and Svetlana are wonderful hosts, Lee provided an introduction to our accommodations, including the well stocked shared kitchen area, and Svetlana prepared spectacularly good breakfasts each morning, featuring organic fruits from their orchard, excellent home-made breads and egg dishes, and Kona coffee from a neighboring organic farm. They were delightful companions, and gave us lots of helpful hints on local sights and restaurants.
First timers take note: the road up to Aloha is extremely bumpy, but carefully managed is perfectly fine. The second or third time is a lot easier!
We hope to return!

Without hesitation, I can say that the Aloha Guest House provided my wife & I the best accommodations of any trip we've taken in the last decade. The breakfasts on this organic fruit farm (& local organic Kona coffee) were some of the best meals we had during our week on the Big Island--hands down the best bananas we've ever tasted & the variety of fresh exotic fruits was exceptional. Lee & Svetlana's recommendations to their favorite restaurants & hikes also served as our other great meals & experiences during our visit. For travelers who want to get off the grid in an hospitable home with an epic lanai view & eat the best foods in Hawaii, rest on a tempurpedic mattress after a long day hike & snorkel, the Aloha Guest House is your best bet.

Our room overlooked the ocean, exactly as pictured, from the 1,500 feet elevation. Several things make Aloha Guest House special and unique. #1 is Lee and Svetlana's personal touches. Imagine a different creative and tasty breakfast every morning that includes exotic fruits from the B&B's own garden, orchard, and free-range chickens. Svetlana prepares it and Lee describes it. The setting is five acres of grounds - gardens, flowers, and an orchard of varied exotic fruit trees. Lee is happy to tell you about each one. Even the chickens seem happy to greet you. The roms are quiet, well-appointed and comfortable, and there is a large porch with large, nearly invisible screens. Because of the elevation, there is no need for A/C. The B&B is at the very end of a long, winding road that has bumpy dirt patches. We drove up it carefully in a convertible. We always felt welcome upon arrival. One of the Big Island's best snorkeling beaches is nearby in Captain Cook, the Kealakekua Bay State Historical Park. Captain Cook is away from the hubbub of Kona, and has some nice restaurants and wonderful Gypsea Gelato.

Aloha Trekkor, This is Lee from Aloha Guest House. It is 40 kilometers (25 miles) from the airport to our guesthouse. Depending on traffic, it is a 50 - 60 minute drive. Many of our guests arrive at night and I supply very good directions. The last mile is up Old Tobacco Road is a climb and a bit bumpy.
