We loved this wonderful little taste of 20th century Hawaii! For less than $90 a night you get a CLEAN room and KIND staff. Often historic places can be “iffy” but we would definitely recommend staying here - on the 3rd floor. The ocean view is beautiful. Everything is screened

I've been here twice in the past year with a friend and we get an ocean view room on an upper floor with 2 beds. The property is old, quaint and charming. The views are absolutely stunning. The front desk and hotel staff are very efficient and friendly. The rooms are a little

I live in Hilo and stay here whenever I come to the Kona Coast. I have been here dozens of times. If you want something fancy, don't come here. But, if you want a place with history and warmth and good food, this is the place. It's clean, it's comfortable, it's inexpensive.

I can't answer your specific questions but debated the whole shared/not shared bathroom question with myself before booking to stay 2 nights in December last year. Given the prices are so reasonable I decided to go with the private bathroom. Probably if you need to ask then it is worth the extra cost :) I had a room on the second floor. The bed was comfortable (quite firm). This is a super place to stay, the people were lovely and the breakfasts are delicious. PS I am 64.

"All the floors are nearly the same with the same view - but the 2nd floor is on the same level as the restaurant/ front desk."
"The Japanese room (315) is most expensive but large and interesting...corner top floor."
