My husband and I love the Diamond L, the horses, the rides and especially Carolyn and Gary. It doesn't get any better than this and the food is always great. Wonderful recipes and fresh ingredients. I had a peach there in the breakfast cobbler the taste of which I have not had in years. Fresh berries, fresh meat , eggs, everything you would expect to find on a ranch in the Black Hills of Wyoming. The scenery on the rides is breath taking. (from Wisconsin driftless area farm)

I have vacationed at the Diamond L Guest Ranch repeatedly over the last seven years because it is always a wonderful experience. The location is the best, scenic, quiet, and with varied riding trails. The horses are wonderful. The facilities are rustic but clean and comfortable. The food is plentiful and tasty. The owners, Gary and Carolyn will do anything possible to ensure that you have the best that they can offer. I have taken many friends to the ranch over the years who have enjoyed their time at the ranch immensely. This is the place to go for great riding, beautiful views and a wonderful place to relax.

A vacation at Diamond L is always first on our list! The hospitality, vistas, surroundings and recreation are second to none. When we want a getaway, it is hard for us to unwind, but always easy to do just that at the ranch. We are able to forget about all of our stresses, worries, etc and just take in the fresh air, ride, eat, sleep and hang out. Gary and Carolyn are two of the kindest people and best hosts we´ve met. All in all, a perfect vacation spot.
If you are looking for loud nightlife or trendy, this is not the place. If you want to unwind, enjoy the outdoors and riding as well as two down to earth, lovely hosts, this is the place!

If you are looking for a place to kick up your feet and relax, enjoy the great outdoors and reconnect with your family, I highly recommend the Diamond L Guest Ranch. My family and I first visited on our way to British Columbia during the summer of 2002. We enjoyed ourselves so much that we have gone back every summer since to enjoy the restful, hospitality of the ranch. Each day begins with a delicious ranch breakfast to be followed by trail rides through the Black Hills. Every level of rider is accomodated without comprimising safety or comfort. Upon return from the morning ride, luncheon is served. The afternoon is spent at your leisure and after a hearty ranch dinner, you are back on the trail. My favorite rides are those in which the sun begins to set as you ride through the fields. Everything around you has a pink and orange glow and far off in the distance, you can see Devils Tower. At the end of each evening ride, you have dessert and play games, sing songs or just enjoy the pleasant conversation of your hosts. Gary and Carolyn Luther have always gone out of their way to make us feel at home. Carolyn has accomodated dietary restrictions, watched my son so I could go on rides(before he was old enough to go himself), and kept the lodge and cabin impeccably clean so that we could enjoy our vacation to the fullest extent!

We didn't lodge here. We just went on a trail ride. The hostess was very patient and funny. The horses were very well behaved. We walked for an hour in the surrounded countryside. It wasn't too hot. It was actually quite lovely. A nice diversion for city folks.

There are snippets of time and places of peace that we all long for in the dark days of winter and the stressful days of traffic, work, and a hectic pace...The Diamond L Guest Ranch is one of those places for me. 2011 will mark my 10th anniversary of going to the Ranch. The people, Gary and Carolyn, the horses, the views, the stars at night and the sense of God's glory that surround me in this setting keep me coming back, year after year... 2011 is definitely going to be another one of those years....I count Gary and Carolyn among my dearest friends and the Diamond L Ranch as my own private piece of paradise.

Our family has visited the Diamond L Ranch several times and we have loved it.
The owners have been wonderful hosts for us and we have loved riding with them in the Black Hills Nat. Forest with its spectacular views. Our children have enjoyed helping out with feeding and grooming their well-mannered trail horses. The relaxed atmosphere has provided a place where we can rest and re=energize.

Had a wonderful time at this ranch. I stayed one week, with my 15 yr old son. The rooms were very spacious and clean. The food was wonderful! We had a lot of control how far we wanted to ride each day, one ride was to a beautiful lake...we got to bring a packed lunch and sit by the lake and eat. The location was great... we were tucked in the mountains. But with only a short drive we were able to go see Devils Tower and, we also drove to Mt. Rushmore. I loved the horse that I got to ride, but they were all nice horses, and there is a horse to fit everyone skill level. Definately a great ranch, and I hope to be able to visit there again!!!

I'll admit to being a repeat visitor to the Diamond L Guest Ranch. I return regularly because the rides are amazing - the views and variety of trails makes for a great trip! Also, the owners, Gary and Carolyn, make everyone feel right at home - they try very hard to be accommodating to everyone, whether you are a solo traveler like me, or a family with young kids.

The place is rustic in feel - it is a guest ranch - but the accommodations are comfortable, the food good and the owners lovely. I'd highly recommend the Diamond L Guest Ranch to anyone who loves good horses, scenic wonders, and a quiet place to relax.

A good, safe layover for folks traveling with horses is provided. However, the proprietress of this property does not seem to enjoy guests and we felt that the hospitality was lacking and rigid. We did not feel like welcome guests at this property, although the spartan room accomodations were clean, the food was subpar.
