Riverstill is unique in that it combines several rare characteristics. There are no artificial sounds or sights; it is all natural - no TV screens, monitors, ringing and dinging telephones, and not even a radio playing in the background. Nothing digital, no mobiles and no Internet. Then, the natural beauty and tranquillity of the grounds itself with a touch of uniqueness as each of the cottages is different and has its own story. They have in common that they are super functional, adequate, and clean. The third characteristic is Jacques and Louise's presence and hospitality - the difference between arriving as a first-time guest and becoming a member of the Riverstill family is, at most, 15 minutes. There are numbers you keep, and the conversations are unforgettable. Then, Riverstill is an exciting place; walk around and ask questions, as there is a story behind everything.
The last point, and it might be personal to me, but not, is that I never dreamed in my sleep at Riverstill. Either I am sleeping very deeply, or my mind is at ease.

It is a beautiful location and the river is lovely to swim in. It is so peaceful and the owners are very hospitable, even sharing access to their herb garden. The farm dogs are friendly and provide a relaxed feeling of security. The cottages are homely and rustic and rather than cold and luxurious in atmosphere. The owner's metal artworks, the paths along the river and labyrinth all add a particular charm.

We went to Riverstill with our 3 doggies for a breakaway. The property is absolutely stunning, with lovely trails to walk along the river. The owner of the property was very friendly and accommodating. His dogs are all very well-socialized and often accompanied us on our walks. The chalets are well-equipped and comfortable. This is definitely a place that any nature lover must visit!

We spent 2 night, 3 days at Riverstill. This is our second stay here - on the banks of the Groot Marico River. The rustic cottage fronts onto the riverine vegetation and the sounds of the African bush envelope one day and night. It's good to cool off after a day on the road in the river and to appreciate the clear sky and stars at night. Jacques was very hospitable and able to answer our many questions about the flora and fauna - and more. Thanks for a wonderful stay.

Riverstill is a world on its own. I went there for peace and tranquillity in my own cottage deep in the African bush, and found it in abundance. Set in large gardens, the rustic cottages are comfortable and surrounded by natural bush teaming with birds and wildlife, at the edge of a river. The surprising element is the sense of community at Riverstill, generated by the warm hosts and an eclectic gathering of artists, philosophers, musicians and academics drawn to the farm. This is a getaway with heart and soul, definitely one to return to.

Need a break, need to get away, need to relax. This is where you go, again and again and again. Oh, and your dogs will love it too. Jacques and Louise are fantastic hosts, and just as relaxed as the venue. I just love this place. The place, the people and the river, it just keeps drawing you back again and again. Would advise using a bakkie, or at least a vehicle with ground clearance as a few hundred meters of the road to get there may be a bit rough. Your porche won't make it.

Untouched rustic beauty in the bush are the first words that come to mind. The 5 stars are for the peace and tranquility, our hosts Jacques and Louise and the lovely, simple accommodation. The fact that it's pet friendly is a big bonus, although the cottages are not fenced in for pets. The river is a short walk away from the cottages, which are decorated simply and have their own unique identity. Having said that, the bed was really comfortable, fantastic shower, everything you need in the kitchen. Pretty view from the verandah and cool with all the trees in the heat of summer. This is not your "typical" 5 star city equivalent of a glam establishment but rather a place of peace and serenity, which resonates more with me, hence my 5 stars! Loved our stay and we'll be back to try out an experience in another cottage.

The world needs to know about Riverstill. Not only is this river front farm a quiet nestle under huge trees, but they have the best host AND event better dogs! We've been returning there for years. And it won't ever stop. See you soon again <3

Our only complaint is that we did not find Riverstill 20 years ago, but we will be making up for it in the future. We loved the friendly dogs, the welcoming and generous host and the fantastic birdlife. The accommodation is clean and comfortable while rustic and charming. The vegetation and birdlife in a tranquil environment were the highlight.

The lack of outside ablution facilities makes it not possible for camping. If you are however considering camping during weekdays there might be open units available of which you may then use kitchen and bathrooms. The cost will be R150 pppn in this case.
