If I was rating in the category “you get what you pay for” this is a 5 star hotel! COVID has really changed the ability of hotels and restaurants to interact and serve their customers. Coming from the Midwest, with no reference to the Tacoma area, my search for location and price led me to select LaQuinta. Is the surrounding area great? No. There are no restaurants in the vicinity I would visit. So, dining at the hotel was a decent option. I enjoyed the servers, especially Barbara: The food was actually great and reasonably priced.
What a great place to stay! I booked through Booking.com but accidentally booked a day early - I was road tripping up from California to my new home in Washington and only needed one night - but I was able to call and talk to a very helpful person who cancelled my reservation free of charge, set me up with a new one for the correct day, and advised me on how to make sure Booking.com wouldn’t charge me and to confirm the cancellation with them (which was a huge pain in the butt, but that’s hardly La Quinta’s fault!). When I arrived late the following evening, the person working overnight at the front desk was extremely friendly and kind, and the check-in procedure was quick and easy. I was traveling with my cat and all I had to do was sign an extra form and we were good to go. The guest room was nice and 99% clean except for a small black stain on the sheets, probably only several millimeters across, and a barely visible pink stain on the red and white patterned rug. Also, there was a large spider, but I don’t think that’s the housecleaning staffs’ problem. Easily taken care of! Evyerthing else in the room was in order, the bed was comfortable and there was good seating and the TV worked fine, no dead pixels or weird colors or anything. The bathroom was a bit small but only because I was having to keep my cat locked in it and get in and out of the door without her escaping. For the cost it was very reasonable. The bathtub was quite large for the size of the bathroom and the shower head was high enough for my VERY tall wife! No problems with key cards or elevators, and I was easily able to get help with my luggage on the way out in the morning, the bellhop even taking the luggage cart out to my car in the parking lot and helping load it into the car! She was very careful with my cat, too, as we had the cat carrier on the luggage cart, she kept a hand on it at all times and made an effort to make it a smooth and easy ride for the kitty. Overall a fantastic experience and the staff are just wonderful!…
Terrible location. Bum city just a corner away. Room had fecal matter in the bathroom next to the toilet and on wall. Staff switched room for us and that was smelled significantly of urine. We ended up leaving and going elsewhere.
I stayed at this hotel because my dog and I were attending a dog show nearby. The property was sold out with lots of dogs and families with young children. The staff was attentive, friendly and efficient. The facility included a large lawn area, with trees, where dogs could relieve themselves (sadly a rarity at other hotels). My room was spotless along with the hotel lobby. The 7 story building had only 2 elevators, yet they were easily able to handle the full house. Food service was still limited, but I enjoyed take out from the on-site restaurant. Although the hotel is sited next to I-5, the rooms are so well insulated, there was nothing to interrupt a good nights sleep.
Very clean and inviting place to stay. Super easy access to interstate. Parking was free and I felt safe. Staff was helpful and everyone was very nice. The lobby was clean and kept very neat. Elevator was clean and fast. Our room was very comfortable and clean, sheets were soft, quiet for great sleep, room had a great view, and bathroom was clean as well. I would stay here again and recommend LaQuinta to anyone that stays in this area.
