This place is great! The view from our room 317 is amazing. We can see the beautiful park, totem poles and the river. Saw a few fish caught from our deck even. The cloud bar is great. If you don’t have time to wait for a seat outside, inside is pretty great too. Don’t be in a hurry for your food. They’re not fast, but you have a beautiful view to look at while you wait. Try the pear sidecar. It’s really good!

We really enjoyed our one night stay in a room facing the Columbia River. The hotel provides blankets to use while sitting on the balcony, a nice touch. Our room wasn't ready at check-in about 3 pm so we enjoyed walking along the river path that passes by two parks. The property is reminiscent of the Pioneer Inn in Lahaina, Maui, Hawaii paying homage to the community’s namesake, John Kalama. We started with a drink at the Cloud Bar on the top floor (socially distanced). Later we had dinner at the McMenamins Pub which was good. Next morning we had a great breakfast, again at the Pub. Only down side with the room was that there wasn't a luggage rack or good place to put a bag. I look forward to visiting again.

The hotel is very interesting, lots to look at. However, the room didn’t have coffee or bottles water and no fridge, which was not a big deal for one night. If we were there for a few days it would have been. There are lots of cobwebs in the restaurant which were apparent when the sun came in. The dinner food is nothing to write home about, and in my opinion, overpriced. Breakfast was the best and well priced. Loved the spot on the river, even though the noisy trains ran all night next to the hotel, the interstate next to trains. In more sensitive to noise than most. The bed was pretty standard and Didn’t like the blanket.

Room Tip: If noise bothers you, get a room facing the river. Might be better than side and back rooms.

Uh-oh.... new habit alert! We checked in to the Kalama Harbor McMenamins today to celebrate a big event. Our server was Koryna and we truly appreciated her delightful manner and efficient service. When we arrived there were only a few customers. By the time that we left it was busy, busy! Koryna didn’t miss a beat! She kept the food and beverages flowing with a smile on her face the entire time. My Husband has the burger of the month (which had peanut-butter on it) and he ate it so quickly I didn’t even get a picture of it. I had the Aztec salad and it was good! We shared an order of pretzel sticks with cheese and they hit the spot. I had a hot buttered rum and my husband had the hammerhead beer. We purchased our passports today, and meandered around the hallways for a while, taking it all in. We were able to find two secret rooms, one with a secret room within a secret room, which we thought was really cool. We can’t wait to return!

Check-in. Inexperienced front desk clerk. Store (Market) - Staff person responded to my question about the different IPAs "Read the description on the cans." Very rude and only interested in her phone. Room - Very dark. No closets. Bathroom had no place for toiletry bags. No instructions on how to regulate room temp. Cold in January! Called front desk for assistance. Assured someone would assist. Never appeared. Dinner - Had each of the entrees. Short ribs - 4 stars/Fish & Chips - 3; Seafood Past - 2. Server disappeared after they arrived. Was told late she ran room service which is busy during Codid. Had to go to the bar to get beverages. Plates not cleared - I put them on an adjoining table.Bill was paid at the bar. Room Service Breakfast - Two different eggs benefict. The Hollandaise was a mess -"It tastes like Cheez-Wiz" Check-out - Problems. Charged for the dinner that was paid by gift card and cash the night before. Manager involvement. Lengthy delay. Turns our dinner bill was run on computer system which different than the lodge. Was eventually given a bottle of wine "for your trouble." After writing this, I changed my rating above to Poor.
